alder wood has more bright sound than the mahoganny.

my guitar has mahogany, ive tried basswood guitars and alder.

depends on many things...the wood isnt the only factor that will make the difference. i mean the wood+pickup combo is really important. maybe the dimarzios gonna suck in darker woods like mahoganny...but in basswood they;re pretty awesome

anyway..would u recommend that guitar for shredding/sweeps and generally lead guitar? looks good

@ThrashTilGrave Yeah, it also depends on the quality of the wood, not just the kind.

Yeah, the neck is really thin, some may like it, some not, I enjoyed it... But a huge part in how a guitar feels is how you set it up... Anyway, yeah, I definitely would recommend it, at least for me, it was very comfortable.

@Bobby59 Beats me! My old guitar was ash, now I have Basswood and a Mahogany with Q maple top. To be honest, I prefer the tone of Basswood. At least on this guitar, perhaps because Ibanez uses only the best woods for Prestige series. I never thought it made much difference, if any at all, but it does, its mostly about how the guitar feels, and thats what I like about it the most. I still wanna try alder... But generally, there is no bad wood, just that some are better for some purposes...
