  • The first kid barely even looked at it!

  • NAH, JODIE WAS LOOKIN FER NEKED CHIX

  • They are making movie based on this?! wtf? How can you make movie out of that? Come on! It's just device to view still images! What's next? Ipod Touch The Movie?

  • @Patrick19833 really? interesting. where can i read about this movie?

  • My mom worked for GAF in Portland OR back in the early 70's so i got every GAF toy months (or at least weeks) before it hit the market. I was in heaven!

  • The scary 70s! ^_^

  • LOL I half expected Jodi to pass that Viewmaster along to Hannibal so he could look at some 3D pictures of fava beans and a nice chianti *slurrrrrp*

  • @pbanta62 LOLOLOLOL

  • aw jodie sounds the same thats quite scary a little girl with an adult voice...

  • wtf....

  • why does jodie foster have the exact same voice she did when she was 12? freaky.

  • Hey i got the View Master from 1942 =] can some one tell me how much it worth?? Thanks

  • GAF Viewmaster ... old memories.

    Fantastic video.

  • Henry Fonda 1905-1982

  • Thank you very much

    God Bless you.

  • wtf

  • Is the third kid "Peter Brady" ?

  • @yourpalsteve I was thinking the same thing! Looks like him!

  • VIEW MASTER RULES!!!!

  • It isn't Chris. It could be his younger brother, David.

  • lol smart little kids

  • From México... I had one, miss it

  • ! ! ! A great educational value ! ! ! ha ha

  • Did they also make a "sit on the table" style projector with the same kind of slide reels?

  • I miss viewmasters.

  • Foster is a good actress. But she isn't particularly attractive, mucn less pretty; and she has no sex appeal. . That makes her difficult to cast, at least in films that most moviegoers will willingly pay $10 or more to see (depending on popcorn, soda, candy etc.). Her direction of "Little Man Tate" was OK. It hardly suggested significant directing talent.

  • @GJNCA that is not Christopher Knight.

  • Ha! I knew Foster was a corporate sell out! Proven at last. The money most have bought a lot of skateboards.

  • @enemysprout Maybe the parents took it for themselves.

  • Sorry, Christopher Knight was born in 1957, which would make him fourteen when this commercial was made in 1971. The boy in this commercial is not fourteen, and if you watch episodes of the Brady Bunch from 1971 you will see that the two are not the same. The makers of this commercial obviously knew the Peter Brady character was popular at this time, he was the most popular of the boys on that show, and probably hired a child who resembled him.

  • No, it's not.

  • The boy just before Jodie looks like Peter Brady from The Brady Bunch.

  • Jodie was adorable. She's a superb actress. She's as great as Meryl Streep!

  • Channels invite you to paradise

  • She's actually 9 here.

  • Old viewmasters and reels are awesome. HDTV does'nt even look this good.

  • I also remember Mr.Henry Fonda promoting a Talking

Viewmaster viewer..I wonder if anyone here at You Tube

    has that tv plug?

  • @143AC Jodie Foster and veteran actor Henry Fonda

  • i'm confused

  • I found this youtube video to be highly instructional!

  • and of great educational value

  • hey, we need a black girl in this commercial, ya know to be politically correct and all that. yeah let's get her in here, but make sure her face is covered the entire time.

what was up with that? it looks so deliberate.

  • I noticed that

  • @manetoys BWAAhahaha, yer comment cracked me the hell up! Some middle aged white guys made the commercial, and so the editing shows the racial bias of covering the black girl's face the entire time.

  • Joe Foster was a genius even at 5!

  • Cute commercial. Jodie is hilarious. At least the black girl had a line!

  • Why was the Black girl's face covered up with the ViewMaster the whole time? We could see the other kids' faces!

It's definitely not Mike Lookinland (the kid looks nothing like him), but he does look like Chris Knight. I went to IMDB and it said Chris was born in '57, which would make him 14 around the time this commercial was made, so I don't think it's him, either. The boy in the commercial looks too young to be 14.

  • That is Knight. I can tell by the voice/speech patterns.

  • Some of the best kid dialogue this side of Barney!

  • There's a resemblance to Chris Knight. But he had darker hair and didn't have blue eyes....still doesnt most likely !

  • The kid in the blue T-shirt - is that Mike Lookinland ("Bobby Brady" from "The Brady Bunch")??? I initially thought it might be Christopher Knight ("Peter Brady"), but on second glance, I'd almost lay bets that it's actually "Bobby Brady"...

  • Jodie Foster was an angel and prodgy

  • thats class

  • Pinkeye!

  • I've heard of the 70s!

  • I've heard of the 70s!

  • w00t!

  • hahaha again.

  • Wow that was educational. Thanks Woot.

  • Boo Hoo! I never had one!

  • Loved the Viewmaster. I had Snoopy and the Red Baron.

  • Lovely! Such a smart little Jodie!

I enjoyed this, just as much as the Coppertone ad.

  • I wonder why Henry Fonda was doing ViewMaster commercials.

Li'l Jodi already oozes professionalism. Odd how some kids are just like that their whole lives.

  • "Okay, we'll hire a kid of another ethnicity other than white...but we're not showing the kids face dammit."

  • Didnt anyone spot the young Brady Buncher??

  • I did, I did!!! Young Peter Brady!! LOL

  • Great Job..you get an official 70's style "FAR OUT"!!

  • Thank ya, thank ya!! :)

  • hahahhaha!! young jodie is so fun.

  • Are you watching, Uncle Mike? I remember you doing your impersonation of Henry Fonda saying "GAF."

  • yeah i remember! im still trying to find chatter and coco the clown!!!

  • I looked for them, along with Bernie Brothers and the Two Ton Baker. Can't find a thing. Also, looking for Jack Brickhouse and Lou Boudreaux during "The Tenth Inning" show after that LONG Cubs game back in 1977 when they brought in Larry Bittner to pitch. Brickhouse and Boudreaux were hammered, leaning against each other and laughing. I'd love to see that again!

  • ottlake, that wasn't the 23-22 game was it?

bittner! haven't heard that name in years, how about pete lacock? manny trillo? thanks for the memories.

  • that first kid looked into it for a split second, HOW DO YOU KNOW ITS INTERESTING SONNY?!!!

  • I ate his liver, WITH AN AWESOME GAF VIEWMASTER... Oh the innocent 70's.. when all middle aged men still wore those then geeky sweaters.

  • ohh my god is she jodie foster!!! lol she was talented at that time too

  • I wish I'd never let go of my GAF Viewmaster. They don't sell them anymore & the 3d effect was authentic.

  • je je nice memories back to my mind.OK. sayonara my friends.

  • She really is an intelligent and talented

    lady!

  • lolllllllllllllllllllll

  • Extordinary?

  • my mom worked at the GAF factory in Portland, OR in the early 70's & me & my sister got all these things free before they even hit the shelves. isnt that Peter Brady?

  • No it isn't.

  • Yup that's definitely Chris Knight of "Brady Bunch" fame. How about that?

  • No it isn't.

  • Dummy's right, it isn't.

  • jodie, always the brainy kid. :)

  • Yeah, I wanted to smack her, then, too :D

  • lol why? For being too smart?

  • For having a veil of smugness about it.

  • It's sad how stupid people resent smarter people, rather than respect them.

  • alright , i'll give you that you got funny in a head lock Maj.

    ;D

  • So, I don't get it, that guy shot Reagan over this? He was crazier than I thought.

  • Yeah, but who remembers the GAF "Talking" Viewmaster? I do because I had one.

  • I had a GAF Talking one, too! It had a plastic grooved disc hind the 3D pic one that 'talked' while you squeezed the button+ looked at the 3D pics. I had one of the 7 Wonders of the World and a 'Partidge Family' episode. Unfortunately, I forgot to take out those D batteries and they corroded so it wouldn't 'talk' anymore+ I couldn't put new ones in the slot. It's first place I saw Henry Fonda so for a few years I'd see movies and think 'it's the Viewmaster Old Man!'. LOL Thanks!

  • I ruined a lot of toys in the 60s with those mofo batteries that would turn into the blob, damn-it!

  • education value? 5 years later she played a hooker in Deniros Taxi Driver movie?

  • Jodie Foster was ALWAYS a middle-aged cigarette hag. Creepiest kid actor in the history of movies . . .

  • she patterned herself after your mom

  • Is the first kid the kid who played "Butch" on Nanny and The Professor?

  • The first kid only looks at it for 1/2 a second.

How can he critique it so suddenly?

  • I had the viewmaster and I remember I had reels of Huckleberry Hound and I think Yogi the Bear and some more and it was in 3-D.

  • jodie foster and henry fonda have such similar acting styles in their movies. she accords a similar respect that he did. i remember that commercial well actually and dearly oved the viewmaster. as students at davis, my friend who is now a media professor at depauw university reconstructed the reels to insert her own footage taking full advantage of the funkiness and gee i just thought it was fun!

  • I wonder if they have the same taste in women.

  • fonda's way more alpha...than humanly possible:D

  • Is that Chris Knight?

  • close but no. There's a clip of him from That 70s show if you want to see what he looks like now.

  • Wow! Her voice is EXACTLY the same! Thats.... kinda creepy.

  • Of course nowadays the Viewmaster's seems to be more on the fun/over-commercialized side than the educational aspects it once had back then (you hardly see too many reels getting sold of locations or places to view besides cartoon characters).

  • I got one x-mas of 1967. it came with a Yellowstone National Park and and I forget what else... maybe Popeye, lol.

  • I always wondered what "GAF" stood for, or what they were. By the 1980's it was simply "Viewmaster" from then on. GAF also I think sold Super-8mm cameras and projectors that would playback sound recorded on the magnetic tracks on the film.

  • Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqR1C-lwAk8

GAF made alot of stuff... including this weird one... GAF vinyl floors: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBQuT0s1tNk

  • hahahahh that is sooooo cute. jodie is the cutest

  • Oh my gosh, Jodie was such a cutie when she was little.

  • I can't stop watching her part... "OF GREAT EDUCATIONAL VALUE!"
