actually both the bass player and singer wrote the song, but the fact is that he must have had some emotional connection because of the emotion he puts into the song.
Pretty much a UK version of INTERPOL! Originality is indeed dead i think. Good song though. And b4 anyone points it out,Interpol do indeed sound like the uk new wave sound of the 80's.
In the description of the video it says that 'Unfinished Business' is 'White Lies' debut single, when it was actually 'Death' which they have recently re-released. : )
No, they released 'Unfinished Business' in Spring 2008 sometime and didn't release 'Death' til Autumn.
I remember because I went to see them in May 2008 and the only song of theirs I'd properly heard that wasn't a demo was 'Unfinished Business'- but, yeah, then they re-released 'Death' sometime this summer.
It'll be very interesting to see what they do next. I suspect that their next album will be better than their first, because they may start to display some originality. I don't mean that in a spiteful way, but you must admit, there is a plethora of bands that have been 'borrowed from' in their first offering. They are clearly talented, considering their age. And I think that they can deliver something that doesn't automatically harp back to the eighties and Interpol.
Their lyrics are like poems. For example in their song 'Death' the last paragraph. When you don't know that this is from a music group, you'd probably say it's from a poet. It's just beautiful, that's a good conclusion I guess.
shady 5500 i think its just u dude. His voice is orginal and raw. Raw talent like this is by far more entertaining and inspiring than pop star shit who are note pefect and dare i say boreing
Erm, it's a bit different nowadays (due to a lot of touring) but his voice really can't be faulted on the basis of this performance because he was actually spot on all the time.
you fucks are just blinded by a new band that has a fresh sound but interpol is a better band even though their last album was not as great as the previous ones but turn on the bright lights was the best album to represent the post-punk revival movement. and jpac07 you're a dumbass joy division is just a big influence on interpol you don't see interpol uaing a lot of heavy sort of funky bass that joy division uses so shut the fuck up.
Many people are critiquing this band, but I really like their sound Im a huge Joy Division fan and some complain that White Lies are bootlegging their style with a less successful result, but I see it as homage to the late band rather than just a rip off
Plus, every musician copies from their favorite bands scripts!!!
lol i agree wolf mother got the same slack from critics about being led zeppelin i say if your so extremist and militant that you cant appreciate music then just stay in your one sided mind set and don't listen to anything else and stop complaining lol
