  • @loopingstaruk 240p

  • @loopingstaruk put it on 240p!!

  • awwwggghhh it was great but now i can hear nothing:(

  • awsome thumbs upp!!!

  • somehow a performance like this where he's almost crying confirms the gone passion about music..

nowadays everything is about the show and setup..

you don't feel the artists spirits, passion and feelings anymore .. at least not often..

    this is simply amazing

  • i think he has to finish his business!

  • wow i love how emotional he gets, the song must have some connection to him emotionally, true song writing here

  • @ecoindie7 i thought the bass player wrote the music

  • @jeromerocks123

actually both the bass player and singer wrote the song, but the fact is that he must have had some emotional connection because of the emotion he puts into the song.

  • why was he crying?

  • OMG..! Check 3:43...he wants to cry!! lovely song

  • good voice. it went way better than i've expected it at the beginning

  • Ohne Ende geil! Unerreicht, genial, eigenständig, ausgereift, harmonisch nahezu perfekt. Die Band ist Luxus!

  • Pretty much a UK version of INTERPOL! Originality is indeed dead i think. Good song though. And b4 anyone points it out,Interpol do indeed sound like the uk new wave sound of the 80's.

  • @legniak1 they're better than interpol. The modern joy division more electro. Better than ova standard british indie bands

  • @meakins8 better than interpol? you are a retard

  • there are two songs

  • at 1:50 it looks like he wants to cry....he is such an emotional lyricist even if he isnt emotional. I LOVEEEE this band :D

  • they are amzing live! when i went to see them i didn't want it to end, as good things should never end.... they always do though...

  • I saw these guys live last night in Glasgow and they blew me away.

They were absolutely awesome. They played every song off the album live and 3 extra songs. Brilliant.

  • @H3WMW

They were mind blowing last night, they have improved so much since this performance.

  • Yeah i saw them at manchester apollo back in november.

They also played 3 extra songs then called taxidermy and you still love him

i think the other was a cover though

  • I do cry everytime I hear this wonderful song

  • seen them twice allready and looking forward for rock city!

  • i love them i wish they can come to CANADA more offten :D

  • my love of 2009? White Lies

  • Best New Band of 2009

  • tied with The XX i think, but yeah, def top 2 refreshing sounds this years

  • i thought joy division too, but i watched an interview and they said they didn't listen to them.

  • yes. Everyone who wears black clothes is influenced by johnny cash...

  • Johnny Cash influence - black clothes

    joy division - sound

    Oxford student - mannor

  • the joy division influence is evident

  • what is the name of the other song ?

  • Death :)

  • its called 'Death.' Very nice.

  • They rocked like hell at the Coldplay concert in the Netherlands on the 10th of september

  • same here, the were awesome at werchter

  • I saw them at Werchter and since then I am just in love so fucking awesome

  • where about did you see this live and where excatley?

  • Comment removed

  • amazing

  • I agree

  • Is it weird that his voice reminds me a bit of Jim Morrison's?

    They're both bloody brilliant!

  • In the description of the video it says that 'Unfinished Business' is 'White Lies' debut single, when it was actually 'Death' which they have recently re-released. : )

  • No, they released 'Unfinished Business' in Spring 2008 sometime and didn't release 'Death' til Autumn.

I remember because I went to see them in May 2008 and the only song of theirs I'd properly heard that wasn't a demo was 'Unfinished Business'- but, yeah, then they re-released 'Death' sometime this summer.

    Fact. Look it up.

    Jools Holland is no mug!

  • hahaha i just like it at 4 minutes jools introduces them as LIES. i loooove this band sooo much best new band this year!

  • Haunting, but brilliant

  • amzing band 10/10

  • they are pretty good.

    it sounds like interpol.

  • dare so unreal so glad saw them at oxegen

  • i thought he said westlife

  • this was in 2008, right?

  • It'll be very interesting to see what they do next. I suspect that their next album will be better than their first, because they may start to display some originality. I don't mean that in a spiteful way, but you must admit, there is a plethora of bands that have been 'borrowed from' in their first offering. They are clearly talented, considering their age. And I think that they can deliver something that doesn't automatically harp back to the eighties and Interpol.

  • White Lies has got very good, deep lyrics.

Their lyrics are like poems. For example in their song 'Death' the last paragraph. When you don't know that this is from a music group, you'd probably say it's from a poet. It's just beautiful, that's a good conclusion I guess.

  • shady 5500 i think its just u dude. His voice is orginal and raw. Raw talent like this is by far more entertaining and inspiring than pop star shit who are note pefect and dare i say boreing

  • here here my good man!

  • i saw them last week on Rock Werchter and i like them better live than on cd

  • I really like white lies but is it just me or is harry mcveigh's voice just not very good live?

  • Erm, it's a bit different nowadays (due to a lot of touring) but his voice really can't be faulted on the basis of this performance because he was actually spot on all the time.

  • i love white lies!!

  • me too!

  • please dont refer to Joy Division as mainstream shit

  • mainstream shit? shut up you underground kid

  • good comment A+....Maybe some day wen u finish autistic school u will be able to construct a sentence

  • say whatever you like lol i think both of them are kickass anyway

  • to say more, i dont understand ppl talking shit about mainstream music. its also good! indie groups are of course awesome too tho ;P

  • Mainstream....mmm... I don't know, anyway what's wrong with mainstream, the beatles are the most mainstream band in the world and they are bloody god

  • you fucks are just blinded by a new band that has a fresh sound but interpol is a better band even though their last album was not as great as the previous ones but turn on the bright lights was the best album to represent the post-punk revival movement. and jpac07 you're a dumbass joy division is just a big influence on interpol you don't see interpol uaing a lot of heavy sort of funky bass that joy division uses so shut the fuck up.

  • joy division are the best, but interpol just sorta ripped them of :/

  • I love Joy Division, Interpol, Editors and White Lies.

  • why are you all talking about interpol your watching white lies not interpol . enjoy the music or bollox

  • Anybody that has anything bad to say about this band is just a hater. Simply said. This band is so epic it hurts.

  • interpol is not shite they are great band and besides editors are a better band than white lies even though i like them.

  • interbollocks as i like to call them xD

  • All you fags dissing Interpol. Screw you! ;(

  • interpol are shite tbh. this lot are quite good. I like this song and death not sure about the other tracks though mmm

  • wooooooooooooow

  • Dam they sound even better live :)

  • His voice sounds better on cd, but this certainly has got its charm. (y)

  • who gives a pint of monkey spunk!? at the end of the day, there awesome, talented, and have a big future ahead of them... so just enjoy it!

  • They havnt copied Interpol, they just have the same influenses from the 80s bands.

For the sake of it, Interpol doesnt have very original sound, they have taken their whole sound from The Chameleons.

  • love his voicee!

  • Comment removed

  • What's up, Interpol?

  • haha you must be fucking shitingme

  • yo i love this song once again

  • one of my favrout song a love the book danny the chapoin of the world

  • what do you mean? is that book related to this song?

  • These guys are too good! :)

  • love the lighting

    perfect for the song!

    :D

  • Many people are critiquing this band, but I really like their sound Im a huge Joy Division fan and some complain that White Lies are bootlegging their style with a less successful result, but I see it as homage to the late band rather than just a rip off

Plus, every musician copies from their favorite bands scripts!!!

  • lol i agree wolf mother got the same slack from critics about being led zeppelin i say if your so extremist and militant that you cant appreciate music then just stay in your one sided mind set and don't listen to anything else and stop complaining lol

    ace band end off lol

  • Very well put, thumbs up!!!

  • In an interview in NME, harry mcveigh stated that he'd never listened to Joy division prior to being told that he had "copied" their sound.

  • so he puts on that voice does he to copy all these bands sounds. why not just enjoy a great new band

  • copied interpol hahaha dont be silly, just cause they sound a bit alike doesnt mean they copied them. i dont think interpol have even had a top 10 out of there 8 years of boring music! sorry you people annoy me, why come on a video you dont liek just to say something like that. pfff

  • Wow :-s poor Jacko they're so rude

  • holy shit!! that kid has a good voice!

  • What a fuckin band!

  • ME 2 !!!

    HARRY MCVEIGH !!!!!

  • I WANT HIM

  • Me too!

Join the growing line of admirers.

    Funny username... LOL

  • wigan....now thats depressing

  • I love those songs, their entire album is solid gold!!

  • the bass out of tune!!!

  • KNOB

  • Comment removed

  • there a proffesional band you cock, they tune their guitars how they want them to sound for that song.

  • ahaha thats stupid, but well lest me ask him

  • the bass is out of tune

    but they rockk!!!

  • Ohhh! just amazing!

  • THIS BAND IS HYPNOTIZING!!!

  • Comment removed

  • their best song

  • douche

  • His live voice is what drew me into this band

  • Is McVeigh playing an ES 300's series?

  • its a gibson es-335

  • Absolutely fucking amazing, brings tears to my eyes. I heard them for the 1st time on a Special on Channel 4 and love them.

  • great song but they played it a little fast though

  • White Lies, come to sziget festival in hungary <3

  • wise, wise very wise thanks, they're wonderful

  • Tiene una fusion de estilos que va desde interpol, radiohead, killers, coldplay ... que cautivan al oido

  • Iam 49 years, saw the cure live in paradiso amsterdam, when they first started so end 70s,saw White Lies in amsterdam this year in march,it remainds me off The Cure in the beginning of their big succes(still big fan)its not close to interpol or Editors(good band)

  • unaware, im a pretty big fan of interpol.

I would say that White Lies has something they dont, excluding the debut of Interpol this is the best Joy Divison sounding stuff in a while.

  • lol, you are a tool. interpol are american whilst white lies are british. they're like two completely different worlds... how can you compare one another

  • oh yea, i forgot music sounds differently depending on where you are, damn it, how silly of us. where your from doesn't dictate who you sound like or your influences, you choose them.

  • ok fair enough

  • I think where you're from does influence, even a bit... :S

Well, i'm not looking for an argument :D

  • TUNE

  • I LOVE WHITE LIES!!!

  • hmm, don't like the voice live??

  • soo fucking good!!! just listen to the guitarr

  • He probably has world's best pokerface

  • i really like them, and theyr soooo tight live, but the songs are so emotional and he just stands there.

  • His face is telling everything ;)

  • nahhh, his face only changes when he sings harder parts, other then that its pretty much -_-

  • The bass part at 1:55 is awesome, love the part where the camera zooms so you can see him playing, the bit where he brings the song back to the climax

  • new Ian Curtis =)

  • i like them but i think it feels abit unreal singing about death and shit when they're pretty young and used to be a happy go lucky indie band

  • aha they replaced kiss with dance one part of the song.

  • WHITE LIES

    band of 2009!

  • ma stai zitto frocio

  • non mi discriminare!

  • ma fottiti bastardo

i froci non possono esprimere pareri

  • Deathmthe second song sounds a little bit in the beggining like Heroes from Bowie

  • im sorry but their not really like bloc party. their more like joy division or interpol, a gloom band or something, very good though :)

  • They kinda sound like arcade fire,ra ra riot

Anyway if they sound kind of similar

All of this bands are amazing, really talented

  • think they sound a lot like them, but you forgot Editors

  • I quite liked Editors, but I think these blow them, especially vocally. Someone on another video said they're like the new romantics meets Joy Division, that's the best description I've heard so far :D

  • I meant blow them away ^

  • Going to see them here in NY on the 27th with friendly fires. Friendly fires are one of my favorite bands....but i also like these guys so this concert is going to work out quite well.

  • awsome band, they were awsome live at nme

  • interpol editors great bands

  • i love them, increadible album!!! every song is just.... woaa
