  • 6 people should stick to playing Flock of Seagulls covers.

  • to fast!

  • that was neat..... very good.. lots of time changes. I wonder what my music looks like transcribed, i cant read music but i sure can play!

  • Just a tad too "hot" with some clipping and distortion. Other than that, thanks for posting.

  • Hellow

    very interesting.

I hope that you have no propallid of copyright as partition?

  • This could be subdivided in a way less confusing than this - simple 4/4 and 3/4 signatures would suffice.

  • @brodie1600 Of course the eighth note would then be getting the beat rather than the quarter note.

  • I wonder if Tony Banks has seen this? :)

  • For the PDF Google this, it should be the first (firth :P) result:

"Firth (pdf) - Firth Of Fifth: Introduction"

What a great intro, I simply don't get tired of it.

  • I absolutely adore the 13/16 section. Sort of a waltz feel, 4 groups of 3 and then one extra beat right at the end.

  • The average time signature is 3/4. And the song can be broken into 25 measure phrases, if that helps to make sense of it.

  • There is no absolute time signature here, and no definite key either...

It could be B flat, E... you pick one ;-)

  • Thanks a lot for your downloads. I have been wanting to learn this for so long and it's difficult to do by ear. I can't read music so the MIDI file will come in very handy indeed! Thanks again.

  • I absolutely connot tell what time signature this is in.

I know it changes constantly. Could someone tell me?

  • @66richardson

If you watch the video in full-screen mode you will be able to see time signatures before each fragment, every times it changes.

  • @66richardson This song section should not be thought of in a time signature, it's a free form set of eighth notes in groupings of 2's, 3's, and 4's. It's easy to feel, impossible to count.

  • @66richardson hm... lemme see, 2/4, 4/4, 13/16 and 15/16

  • @66richardson Sometimes it's in 2/4, sometimes 15/16, and other times 13/16. The verses are in common time, though.

  • @66richardson the numbers eg 2 = crotches (beats) in every bar 4 = what kind of note represents beat.(4=crotches)

you will see two different numbers one on top of another at the beginning of the piece of music, and at every change in time signature. Does anyone know if this is copyrighted? or does anyone know a piece of music I could use 4 an animation dedicated the time signatures? please help.cheers

  • I'm surprised it isn't much different than when I learned it by ear. I had to play the record like a million times, but I finally learned it.

  • Thank you very much!!!!!!!!! I was looking for the scores for so long, and i didn't find it... Really, thanks a lot!!!

  • Thank you very much for posting this... Allthough I learned ithe piece by ear, many people have asked me if I had the sheet. I'll recommend this video.

  • ditto that on "playing wrongly for 30 years" ;-) Its a surprisingly tricky one to figure by ear...Thanks...this was great. And thanks to Mr. Banks & the Genesis team for writing some of the greatest compositions of the century...

  • For ring-tones you may use audio files (MIDI, MP3 and WAVE) that I uploaded. Click "more info" in information box of the video for the links.

  • Brilliant! This saved me a long time transcribing - I've always wanted to play this. My Dad is a huge genesis fan!

  • thanks. Fascinating to finally see the score with the music!

  • A better and more complete pdf file can be found by googling with the search string

'"intermezzo in C" structure and introduction', open that page, go to the bottom of the page, to a section called "Piano Introduction", there is a link called "Acrobat file".

  • Thank you!!! Especially for the PDF. This is a favourite of mine and it'll be glorious to finally be able to play it.

  • You are very welcome.

I am happy I helped you.

  • THANKS OrSoar: I have been trying to figure this intro out for about 2 years. I just played it correctly for the first time. Have you transcribed any other Banks material?

  • I'm glad you liked it. It was not me who transcribed the introduction (found somewhere on the Web) and no, I do not have any other Banks' materials.

  • @OrSoar I don't get it! the PDF file doesn't fit the video, in the video it seems to show more than in the PDF. Also it looks like some parts have been cut out of the PDF!! Am I just being stupid or is there something wrong? Please answere

  • where can i get the PDF file for this song?

  • You can find the link in description of the video. I will send it to you, anyway.

  • Awesome. Thanks a lot for the PDF!

  • ...and the coda??

  • >..and the coda??

...was taken from an anonymous MIDI.

  • To put what? The program or video?

  • Could do you put it on e-mule? thanks

  • You can get NoteWorthy Composer from the official site of the program: triple w.noteworthysoftware dot com. Sorry for the format of the link. Youtube does not allow to post links in the responses.

  • Thank you so much! You won't believe how much this helps me!

Do you know if there is a drum set option available?

  • You are welcome. No, I never worked with drums in the program. Visit its Web site: there are a lively forum and a lot of useful information.

  • Where can you download/buy a program like this? It would really be helpful with writing music.

  • Wow that's really great! Could I get a PDF file of that? I'd love to attempt it

  • See description of video to get the link to PDF file. It seems Youtube does not allow to post links in the responses.

  • Excellent - thanks. That's put me right on a couple of bits I've been playing wrongly for nearly 30 years!

  • Thank you. If you need sheet music I can send it as PDF file.

    Best!
