i have a hatchling reverse okeetee corn snake, and he went from his usual colors to his shedding colors. I have never seen him shed and I am excited, but a day later his color returned to normal......any advice?
well it's a bit of a problem but it's not gonna kill him all u need to do is get a tuber-ware box and fill it with a kinda moss from a pet shop then get it wet but squees the water out then put him in for half an hour but put air hole in the box
I have a ball python but the last couple times it has shed it hasn't all come off in one piece and it has taken it a while to get all of its skin off. Is this a problem?
i got a problem my snake turned white i guess it was his time to shed....but after 2 days or so it turned to its normal colour but it didnt shed ..... do i have to be worried ? also he seems to be very lazy these days all he does is stay where i placed his heat mat all the time .... very urgent please comment back
@Kalkara92 No, it's not a problem. My corn snake does the same thing. Your snake will become cloudy, turn normal, then shed a few days later. Perfectly normal. :) (I know this comment is late ^.^;)
@TempterOfFate09 according to my book I just got (:3) it takes between 7-10 days to shed, so if it hasn't happened by now, give it another 10, just to be safe, before going crazy.
i fed my snake yesterday on today it started to have the blue eyes can someone tell me when its gonna shed or somthing this is my first time my snake gonna shed since i got it 3 weeks ago ty
Everyone talks about the blue eye phase but only snakes with black or dark colored eyes will appear blue during shed. If your snake has red eyes then in shed they will appear pink. If you snake has even lighter eyes like my first corn why has light pink eyes then in shed pink eyes look almost completely white. Other than eyes the snake has on overall faded look and if you feel the skin it reminds me of the snake wearing panty hoes lol. As in you can feel the loose skin over the snakes body.
Guys heres ho how to speed up snake shedding. Get a tuberware container, cut a hole in the top. Now put some terrarium moss in it and pour water until all the moss is wet, and their is a little water on the bottom (room temperature water). Put the Tupperware container in the cage and make sure it is low enough for your snake to get in there. Leave that in the cage, and moisten it when it gets dry. This is an amazing trick, respond to this message if this works for you!
i bought a corn snake around 4 weeks ago, and the owner told me he was going to shed the week i bought him but he still hasnt! should i be worried? my snake isnt acting ill he is very very lively!
dont be worried, snakes will often shed when it is time too, when he /she gets dull in colour you know its time. My Pyhtonic Fireayra is going in shed right as we speak. good luck. Don't worry too much
my uncle died and left me a male corn snake that is 6 ft long and 9 years old. ive never had a snake before. it lives in a 55gal tank with a heating pad under part of it, it has a water dish to swim in and drink from. but i dont know what else to do. do i feed it rats or mice? and how much, how often? anything else im missing???
lol owned ok here we go feed it a large mouse onece a week you know how big the pray item u need to feed it by the girth
(fattest bit in the middle of the snake) if the size of that should be the size food you feed it make sure when it is in shed make the tanke humid and give it a humid hide you will know it is in shed when it'seyes go blue or gray when its eyes clear he will shed within 24hours hope this helped :)
mines only got a little bit of skin come off. it been hidin in the wood chips and it aint been eating woke up this mornin theres 1 or 2 bits of skin in the chippins wot do i do is it about to shed.
i thought my snake was ill... for quite a few days its been in the cold area in its viv, and hasn't moved for days... just hiding under a log... normally it will just move all the time... but today i woke up to find it had shedded... first time i seen it
can u put a snake in an attic? except for winter ofcourse (my mother is very afraid of snakes so i hav to put it in the attic and care for it when im home and when she isnt watching)
My Moms Afraid Of Snakes She Doesnt Mind It In My Bedroom But If You Was 2 Put It In The Attic It Must Have A Strong Lid Locked Doors And Check Them Every Couple Of Hours And Making Sure No Other Animal ( Mice Rats ) Rodents Could May Get In And Harm Your Snake And Make Sure You Check The Temperature Of It Every Hour
Ik this isn't the rite video to comment but im going to say it anyways. you dont feed yur snake in its cage becuz then when you try to pick it up it will bite yur fingers becuz they're mistaking them for a rat.
no thats not true, you dont feed your snake by hand, you use a pair of forceps or tweezers to feed your snake inside the tank, this helps the snake settle and get the idea that his tank is the best place to be.
can anyone help me? my snake is only after shedding about 2 days ago and i noticed it has some skin left on its head. im wondering is this anything to worry about or will i need some help? can anyone help me ? thanks
Yea if yyou changing to live feeed when there young its ok, but I wouldn't once they get past the fuzzy stage. The snake wont be used to eatting live and if you put a hopper, or rat in with a snake thats used to eatting frozen the snake will prob. lose the fight. It won't be used to grabbing the mouse/rat and they'll get bit.
Only corn snakes that are raised on live feed should eat live feed. Most corn snakes you buy in a pet store are raised on dead feed and you shouldn't feed them live mice/hoppers/rats because there not used to killing there food. plus the mice/hoppers/rats will kill the snake.
There a shed spray you should be able to get at your local pet shop that sells snakes. You just spray it on the snake and it will help the snake shed.
wat i do for monty, my ball python is i let him craw or dip him in a warm, not not too hot or cold water in the sink, just deep enough tat it covers his whole body. and i juss put him there for like 2 -5 min. then put him back in the cage. yeah... ball pythons look really dry when u dun give him water when its shedding
My cornsnake absolutely HATES being put into a pillow case. It really depends on the animal...I suppose. I tried it once to transport him and he started to flip out. Now, I just stick him in my coat, and he's happy with that.
lol i know it sounds wierd but there is really susprising but the best way to handel or transport a snake is in a bag but just to be careful the teeth dont get caught... oh and btw dont DONT put a sheading snake in a small place EVER because each snake has a similar technique to shed and it does need space the best thing to do for a sheding snake is put it in a box with no other snakes and nothing in the box other than water and snakes get really agressive when they are sheding
1) Don't get the teeth caught? Why would the teeth be exposed in the first place?
2)I would NOT reccomend putting any snake in a box with just water. I don't know about your snake...but mine can't swim. Instead, when my (corn)snake Freya is having trouble shedding, I put a towel in a (rubbermaid or sterilite) container and put just enough tepid water in to wet the whole towel. Then, pop in the snake and close the lid.

a wet pillow case makes it hard for air to circulate - the snake will have trouble breathing in there!
it is great for transportation but come on...

just make sure your snake has water while shedding and a rough object to rub against for support and comfort for the snake!
