Why do some folk insist on posting negative comments on youtube? I'd just like to say many thanks for making this video. I'm thinking of buying a Stanford at the moment (I love my Taylor 310 for its tonal balance and playability but it lacks bottom-end balls). The side-by-side comparison with a 'known quality' guitar (and the quick changeovers) is very helpful. Much appreciated. And both guitars sound pretty damn good to me!
Spyle, shut up about China in every guitar video please...you obviously don't know as much as you like to think to. Try to guess where Stanfords are made..
Keep buying Chinese and Korean....better to support someone in a Foreign country than our local craftsman. I go down to 7-11 and find some guys who will do some construction for pennies on the dollar when compared to Americans. Until Americans agree to work for less than minimum wage I'll keep buying foreign.
unreal, martin and gibson should be ashamed of themselves, and many other companys as well...You dont have to spend alot of money to get a great acoustic these days... remember that old comercial, better coffe a millionars money cant by... Or the great brett farve : you can pay more but you wont get more... Martin and gibson you all suck..I hope you both fold!!
@dmoss74 Actually both were tuned. With Youtube videos it may be hard to tell as the low bitrate makes everything sound like Hell....... The "point' (20 seconds) was so that there wasn't a long gap between hearing one, then the other. I tried using editing software and making a better video than this but the audio and video were out of synch after it uploaded. So this crap video is what you get! I don't see anyone else uploading Stanford vs Martin videos and there are plenty who own them.
Ya, the D35 has lighter standard bracing. Standard has heavier scalloped........ A better comparison would be an HD28 but I didn't have 1 to borrow for this at the time.
I wish Youtube had better audio. Both sounded pretty nice. I do prefer the Stanford myself though. Love the wider string spacing and neck contour of the Performer line......
I'll make up a new demo so you can change your mind! LOL. Just kidding...... The audio on this site stinks. I barely use Youtube to post anything anymore. It destroys the audio quality every time! :(
If your going to say you're demoing a Martin. Then I think you should actually use a Martin in the video.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
learn how to tune a guitar before doing something like this. and wtf is the point of going back and forth for 20 seconds at a time?

The Martin has stander bracing, and the psd sounds like it has scaloped bracing. I'll still take the Martin.

yeah the d35 is Standard not scalloped at all. and still sounds better with more deep bass.

stanford sounds like a true bluegrasser martin sounds muddy these imports are tearing up these high dollar guitars
roehrw 2 years ago
Ya, they keep getting better and better. For under $1K there are some imports that are just exceptional now......

depends on which song. Actually, if you listened to the video without looking you'd have to have quite acute hearing to tell much difference.
I looked at the pickguards, but showing the headstocks might help differentiate. I only peeked up when I heard something that really stunned me.
As a Stanford owner....i'm biased!
BJ1047 2 years ago
the spd is not as sustained, and is muddy on the bass, not close to the d35 martin usa wins again

Whow great sound.........it's big Martin sound.
Why did you tuned the Stanford to E flat.
I search a good Martin D-28 copy is this the right guitar?
What do you think about Bluridge Guitars?
I have heard the Stanford PSRD - 28 realy great deep tune.............!
folkman62 2 years ago
I think both guitars were tuned to E in this demo, but sometimes I tune down for vocals.
ryzz71 2 years ago
How much does the Stanford PSD-28 cost and where can I get one?
retro198908 2 years ago
Used or have to import one from The company in Europe. The guy who carried them in the US is probably not getting any more unfortunately.
