I wouldn't be surprised if it was all staged. There are so many "reality shows" out there - man vs wild Bear Grylls an example is fake and all staged. That's how the entertainment business works - to entertain. Good to wake up to reality people

Also, they do a whole entire episode explaining behind the scenes and it says on the man vs wild web page about it and how the work
