people need to stop fucking BITCHING about Dragon Rising, im at mission 10 of 11 in Dragon Rising, so far i've spent a good 8+ hours just in the singleplayer, and i still have 300+ custom maps, made by the community to play AND 2 DLC campaigns to finish and the game is HIGHLY enjoyable and very tactical. If you want balls to the wall realism, i wont deny that ARMA 2 is the best, because it is, but seriously, just because it's the most realistic doesn't mean Dragon Rising 2 isn't any good.

MW 2 is an arcade shooter, in FP2, you need to give your squad orders, sometimes it's better to go stealthy and stay undetected, and you can call in airstrikes, mortars, and other various assistances form your army, and the environment is DESTRUCTIBLE.... Atleast you can enjoy playing Dragon Rising instead of spending 2 hours trying to figure out how to go prone like in ARMA 2.

Here's an idea: Instead of releasing trailers that are completely different from the final game and let everyone down with false claims about how "large scale" your game is, why not actually make a game that lives up to the trailers? There would be better reviews and more sales that way! Also, get back with Bohemia Interactive. Neither ArmA/ArmA II or Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising live up to the original Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis.

It looks like its a 20 foot grass distance. Like so if you were doing a versus match and the other person thought they were hidden in the grass you would be able to clearly see them. that is a huge problem.
this game has some bad things in it but we have to give it creadet for what its good in, i mean the amount of time the spent geting the lighting right and on making the hole island acessable to us is just briliant. plus im in the airforce and my mates in the army dont use any games for combat situations we just have compatitions on these things ot see which corps is better, with out killing each other in real life
Get ARMA 2 and install it's sound and particle mods if you want a realistic full featured military sim. The guys that made Operation Flashpoint 1 made ARMA 1 and ARMA 2 they did not work on Flashpoint 2 as Codemasters didnt like them.

Well considering its based on ARMA 2, (( Pc Version )) which is a Virtual war simulator which the army is using to train soldiers for certain situations. I Think its more for the people trying to find a realistic and tactical first person shooter where as COD contains a large amount of 12 year olds running about spamming and screaming down their mics
Im in the army and we do not use these kind of games to simulate real life combat. We do use a weapon simulator which replicates the firing range as per weapon specialized in a particular MOS. Thats all tho. Our combat related training is hands on and in some cases of room clearing exercises we use live ammo.
ArmA2, OFPDR and other 1st person shooters are just video games. VBS1 and 2 are different and very new to military and how we train. these simulators are not used maintstream...meaning not every soldier will have the opportunity to utilize this training aid. VBS2 is not played as a video game but used as a combat simulator which is run by a moderator or instructor. each mission is run as would be in real life and ends after each situation for AAR. so to answer youre question. no I didnt forget.

I suggest you go to codemasters community forum and search for the clan Miaclan.. They r running DEDICATED server for ofdr.. That's not a dedicated server. That's a copy of the game running on a server.

I've owned OFP1, VBS (was a beta tester with complete package), ArmA1.
I know what it takes to configure a playable dedicated server. I understand that it isn't possible to get the same level of tweaking from a game client running on a "server".
I know that dedicated servers are the heart of any OFP community. I understand that until there is a developed OFP2 community the models will be overly complex and the maps limited in their design & creativity.
Without dedicated servers there is no community. There will be no community maps, no fixed models, no compiler with advanced AI for the map maker etc.
VBS was basically OFP with the community stuff..... Without the community OFP2 will be dead inside 2-3 months.
Jsut because a game isnt released with dedicated servers has nothing to do with the game, no dedicated servers doesnt mean no servers at all.. There is always a way around things that are not implemented into a game, such as the script to run DEDICATED server... Stop misleading people into believing something that isnt true, if you want to comment about something, get it first..

MrPCPerformance is right, there r clans out there running dedicated servers using the script, from what i have seen they aint that good, but they r out there.. And yes a patch is coming soon which will enable DLC 1 of those will be to run dedicated servers without the script....
U can better Buy Arma II cause codemaster made this game crap. No simulation at all just pre scripted stupid arcade gameplay. It Sucks Balls. Codemasters doesnt know what sim means. I have a good PC and an xbox 360, and i was going to get it for PC, it being cheaper, and i could fully experience the potential the game has to offer, but i've ordered it for the xbox, as i see playing it co-op with my good friends to be more important than slightly enhanced visuals. There are many of us console gamers that play, and want to play really strategic games, we are not all Master Chief's running around with shotguns

I disagree. there are plenty of console gamers who like milsims so by releasing it for consoles allows easier access for those who don't have or cant afford a high-end PC to run them. Nope, it is not made by the same company. "Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis", "Operation Flashpoint: Resistance", "Armed Assault" and "ARMA2" are made by Bohemia Interactive (bistudio[dot]com). Only the first two were published by Codemasters, but NOT developed.
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a different story. It has no connection to original OFP, only that Codemasters holds the licence to the name. So there goes this epic fail. They even don't have the know-how BiStudio has.
This game looks bad ass can"t wait to play it tomorrow. As for it being better than Cod I will have to wait and play it. All first person shooters will be compared to Modern Warfare till someone knocks it off of its number 1 spot. I can't wait for this and cod mw2.
operations Flashpoint 2 and CoD ae to diffrent things , one involves teamwork , play patoince , communication , the other involves . This is a Training Sim not a game. Ive seen 1000lb bombs people slumping over after getting shot this is as close as you can get to real combat. One shot one kill flesh wounds can kill you if not attended too. I'll be interested to check this out. For what I see we may have many Cherries that will not know what to do and the real solders or real good gamers will have to root out the untrained sofa warriors.

CODEMASTERS IS NOT RELEASING DEDICATED SERVER CODE!!!!
They have completely dropped the ball, the product is dead, they aren't developing it, there is effectively no multi-player.
This comment will be removed when codemasters respond positively.

Mryellow123, i think before you comment you should do some research, there is a dedicated script out there for op2.. Also codemaster have released a statement saying a new patch and dedicated server patch are on the way... Again i say, before you comment do some research

I suggest you go to codemasters community forum and search for the clan Miaclan.. They r running DEDICATED server for ofdr.. Codemasters is working on the patch for DLC that will be released in the next few weeks...

That's not a dedicated server. That's a copy of the game running on a server.
Not even in the same ball-park as a proper server process. Definitely not a reason to buy this game, definitely not an indication that a good community has any chance of growing.

I've owned OFP1, VBS (was a beta tester with complete package), ArmA1.
I know what it takes to configure a playable dedicated server. I understand that it isn't possible to get the same level of tweaking from a game client running on a "server".
I know that dedicated servers are the heart of any OFP community. I understand that until there is a developed OFP2 community the models will be overly complex and the maps limited in their design & creativity.

OFP games require a healthy community.
Without dedicated servers there is no community. There will be no community maps, no fixed models, no compiler with advanced AI for the map maker etc.
VBS was basically OFP with the community stuff..... Without the community OFP2 will be dead inside 2-3 months.

Jsut because a game isnt released with dedicated servers has nothing to do with the game, no dedicated servers doesnt mean no servers at all.. There is always a way around things that are not implemented into a game, such as the script to run DEDICATED server... Stop misleading people into believing something that isnt true, if you want to comment about something, get it first..

MrPCPerformance is right, there r clans out there running dedicated servers using the script, from what i have seen they aint that good, but they r out there.. And yes a patch is coming soon which will enable DLC 1 of those will be to run dedicated servers without the script....

U can better Buy Arma II cause codemaster made this game crap. No simulation at all just pre scripted stupid arcade gameplay. It Sucks Balls. Codemasters doesnt know what sim means. Look at grid and dirt, beatiful games but soo simple everything is Arcade! Codemasters Arcade games Suck and so does OF2!
ARMA II sometimes is buggy but a lot more simulation is involved.
I hate i bought this shit game. Every game that comes on console to is crap.

I don't think console gamers or PC gamers should be stereotyped. I have a good PC and an xbox 360, and i was going to get it for PC, it being cheaper, and i could fully experience the potential the game has to offer, but i've ordered it for the xbox, as i see playing it co-op with my good friends to be more important than slightly enhanced visuals. There are many of us console gamers that play, and want to play really strategic games, we are not all Master Chief's running around with shotguns

I disagree. there are plenty of console gamers who like milsims so by releasing it for consoles allows easier access for those who don't have or cant afford a high-end PC to run them. I agree that the people moaning expected something fast and arcadey but those of us who want a realistic console combat sim shouldn't be left in the cold.

PC games have a lot more to them, deep RPGs, flight simulators,strategy games,complex RTS games, other simulators,management games, PC gaming has always ben more aimed towards the more time consuming and complex games, they still have the easy pick up and play games but the main atraction with PC gaming is its wide veriety of genres, console gaming has alwaays been pick up aand play arcade games and the average console gamer is a lot younger than average PC gamer. big difference.

Nope, it is not made by the same company. "Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis", "Operation Flashpoint: Resistance", "Armed Assault" and "ARMA2" are made by Bohemia Interactive (bistudio[dot]com). Only the first two were published by Codemasters, but NOT developed.
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is a different story. It has no connection to original OFP, only that Codemasters holds the licence to the name. So there goes this epic fail. They even don't have the know-how BiStudio has.

operations Flashpoint 2 and CoD ae to diffrent things , one involves teamwork , play patoince , communication , the other involves . Well been a dick camping in corners , and been a highter , more experanced playing then the others . Operation Flashpoint is like compairing a apple and a dog , too diffrent types of shooters the games are. Im hoping OF:2 will we good so all the long time CoD4 fans/ noobs will go away and a i can have some interesting action packed gameplay.

This is a Training Sim not a game. Ive seen 1000lb bombs people slumping over after getting shot this is as close as you can get to real combat. One shot one kill flesh wounds can kill you if not attended too. I'll be interested to check this out. For what I see we may have many Cherries that will not know what to do and the real solders or real good gamers will have to root out the untrained sofa warriors.
