It's not an original Il Cannone Guarnerius.Doesn't look like it, doesn't sound anything like it either. Can be easily identified by it's colour and the presence of a chinrest & ebony pegs.
@Anthonyissactsang chinrest and pegs have no relevance in identifying a violin. They are changeable parts and old violins often have had these parts replaced.
@zaxmania I'm comparing, identified in comparison. The original cannone don't get change unless it faults cause to preserve closest to it's original state. plus, not many people gets to play the original. You must be at the museum to hear it (if lucky) or be in it's featuring concert.
That playing is so unspeakably terrible in every respect, and the echo in that hall is so large that it is impossible to say anything about the instrument. It SOUNDS hair raising anyway!!! I am having ear cancer now!!
bad. il cannone has a white nut and the body is very dark in colour. this looks like my first violin. it was only $300. fake. plus i've seen il cannone in Genoa. this is wrong.
is this seriously the il canonne? that is hard to believe... because that violin still has its original Baroque fingerboard, and the color of the violin on the vid is different... and the sound is different too... it is not the il cannone
@stradplayer614 Paganini's violin, the famous Guarneri del Gesù from 1743, was to undergo restoration for the accessories and the set-up, that is, the accessory parts most subject to use (fingerboard, pegs etc).
The violinmaker in charge of conservation, Bruce Carlson, assisted by his colleagues Alberto Giordano
and Pio Montanari presented the City of Genoa with a proposal for the work of replacing these accessories a few years ago.
I know he played every note, the problem is that there are too many notes!! One over there one over there, plus the notes he is playing!!

After Paganini's death (1782--1840) the fascination evoked by his personality
focused around his famous violin made in 1742 by Guarneri del Gesu of Genua.
With regard to its great sound he called his violin "Il Cannone".
