Singers don't "steal" a song. It is called "cover". When Chris tomlin used God of This City he had permission to use. Read the BMI or ASCAP notice on the song insert.

Jon is singing this song in the video. This was when our church (New Life Church) recorded "I Am Free", the CD. It was the most fun I've ever had! My husband and I were exhausted after worshiping and dancing for over 3 hours. LOL

Jon Egan of the Desperation Band wrote "I Am Free," and originally recorded it on their "From the Rooftops" CD. Newboys copied it developed their own version

idk. With worship songs, whoever wants to steal it can have it. For example, bluetree wrote god of this city, chris tomlin stole it. Brenton brown wrote everlasting god, chris tomlin and lincoln brewster stole it.
