Ok...I was wrong. Wikipedia doesn't say anything about it being capable of a barrel roll, but there are plenty of youtube clips out there to back me up!!
In the end I'm just glad that U.S., UK, Israel, Australia, etc. are allies because I've been fixing these flying tanks for almost 5yrs and I'm glade I'm on the giving side not the taking.
Saying they were designed by the British or Japanese would be like saying a 1989 Toyota Camry was designed by the U.S.A. because it was assembled here and has left side drive. To anyone who wants to disagree everything I said can be found on Wikipedia. If your going to start a pissing contest at least have your facts straight!
ok....@Dragonfloe the AH-64D can do a barrel roll too. @everyone saying this is a British design, This is one of the many designs of the same American Airframe. almost all of the American Allies(that actually fight with us ie: Israel, UK, AU, Neitherlands, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Egypt, and a handful of others. Japan, and the UK have their own company's building theirs from kits sold to them by Boing with modifications to accommodate the needs of their respective buyer.
And my RAF friend he currently serves at Odiham ex Wittering and Marham the Harriers are being sold to the United States they were heading to India they currently sit in the hanger at Wittering not doing anything just waiting to be sold. To bad the Americans will say the Harrier is there`s no way true the Harrier was British design and first VTOL. Us British invented some crazy technology sadly being replaced by the F-35 :( Harrier still comes first in my books.
@specops1991 Yea they are manufactured in america. But not all are american designed. First lets look at the harrier. It was designed by the brits. So just because it was built in america doesnt mean that america designed it.
@specops1991 They dont make harriers anymore buddy. They stopped making em before Boeing bought out McDonnel Douglas. So just like the F-15, it's a McDonnel Douglas aircraft.
@andrew19k alot of american military hardware really isnt american. The US will sell Allied countries plans on how to manufacture the helicopter then the country that bought it will build it and add any other small details they want.
@xwar Errrr actually thats a British built Apache, Westland Apache to give its correct name.It has Rolls Royce engines, giving it 35% more power than the American varient. And if we're going on about Aircraft of yours we use (even though this Apache has probably never been anywhere near the states!) then may i add our Harrier....which you purchased from us and gave it the title AV8.
@xwar Right Well your marine corps are obviously fans of the Harrier. Also your F35 would not exsist without it, and while im on the subject of the F35, thats 50% American and 50% British anyway. The Canberra bomber you brought from us because at the time it was the highest flying plane ever. You made changes to it also. i could go on and on about Aircraft you have purchased from us, even down to the TSR 2 which your goverment paid us to stop developing because it put the F111 to shame!
@Saxonsoldiers Erm you forgot to add that the P51-D (arguably as we love the Spit) was the best aircraft of WII. Why? It was produced to a British design specification (we know what we want) and although ok with the American Allison engine, it became GREAT with the British Merlin 61 engine with its two-speed two-stage supercharger and propeller from a Spitfire. The Brits also added their own bubble canopy and this design was incorporated into the revised American bubble canopy making the P51-D.
@Saxonsoldiers It doesn't matter how much power the engines can produce. The power limit on the aircraft is the drivetrain- nose gearboxes, driveshafts, and transmission. idk if the westland has those upgraded as well, but fyi...
@MrMichael510 you need to do 4 years in the army air corps but that would be refuling the air craft and maintanace then you can apply for the training but only 98% of those who sign up pass good luck mate and you have to be 16
@stargate2416 the youngest military service age in any western military ( ones that have the apache) is 16 it takes at least 2 years in the training helicopter before they will even let you near an apache, 16 plus 2 is 18 you are 17, you are 1 year too young , even if you were born to fly and had amazing skills as soon as you entered military service
@stargate2416 uve managed to prove my theory on the majority of people on here who claim to be in the military are actually little fat ginger kids.....
@stargate2416- 100% bullshit. ok so how many buttons do you need to press to start an apache up? and how many if you need to take off in 15 mins? tell me that "fly boy" you fucking wanna be. and how many targets can an apache aquire at once?
@stargate2416- 100% bullshit. ok so how many buttons do you need to press to start an apache up? and how many if you need to take off in 15 mins? tell me that "fly boy" you fucking wanna be. and how many targets can an apache aquire at once? you have to be the dummest person i know. claiming you fly apache... 1 in 60 pilots get to fly this beast and your just a little shit that claims fly's the most advanced chopper in the world at the age of 18. well done mate... prick
@prouty111 o before you can even get near one of these you have to fly lynx... so that means you were flying lynx at the age of 12... takes 10 years to even be close to one of these.
@prouty111 It's actually pretty simple to start an Apache... One knob, one button, one switch, and one lever... And it's no different if you need to take off in a hurry; you may just need to leave a few things for in-flight. ;)
@stargate2416 Your 18 years old, you do not fly these -
also, the apache is the most advanced attack helicopter. One in about 50 good pilots even get the CHANCE to fly these. As for you being 18 - I doubt you are even in some sort of military organisation. If you are, you are probably an army/navy/airforce electrician, plummer, ect... I am a blackhawk Crew chief and admit - i will probably never fly one of these. I am also in Australia, so i am definately out of luck.
@stargate2416 What a lier call of duty does not count. Real life combat is so different to computer gaming. Some of my friends are still fighting in Afghanistan not coming home for Christmas. Yet there`s you claiming you an Apache pilot? What a total bullshitter.
No question. those new British engines give the apache some serious endurence. Westland and rolls Royce allison build the best rotar engines in the world. That's why we use them on the V-22 osprey and several other airframes
nice vid. i went to this when i was in cadets. it was awesome. harrier dropped a 1000lb bomb a couple a miles away from where we were watching from, could feel the vibrations through the ground.
