Love that sound and those chords at 1:55. Would you mind if I sampled it? I have a serious addiction to making music and would love to do something with that. Awesome synth. My hope one day is that I will have the opportunity to buy this beast.

Hey! -- I'll bet you get a lot of chicks to come up to your room to see you play this thing, right? -- "Would you like to cum up to my room and watch me do an organ solo"?
@flyyourkite95 you should look for other types of synths this on isn't very suited for your style of music. but to answer your question, no the poly evolver can do a lot a things you'll never be able to do on a P08 and there are bit less things the P08 can do and the evolver can not... For your music you should look for a type of synth called workstatons
Hey, I finally got my Poly Evolver, and I'm lovin' it. Just wondering: Is the very first patch you use a preset? Because it's pretty much my favorite sound. Ever.
really nice, it sounds way better than my virus TI i must say, if i had bigger budget i would buy something like this plus some other things that will make it fully versatile
Almost every synth is good for any kind of sound. You just have to know how to program it and use the right octave which can always be set, even on smaller keyboards or even desktop models or via your DAW.
hi gtechture, i just purchased a poly evolver keyboard, and at first it was awesome, however im finding i wish i had got the prophet 08 instead, as i really want some lush soft pads. It was probably a bad idea but this is my first real synth and im hoping that my lack of programming skills is the reason i cant get these pads out of the poly? Before i sell it and may later regret it, could you confirm that it can't don't lush epic pads or if it can give me some settings? Kind Regards
This definitely is not the synth for the lush pads although its possible. Pads are my favorite type of sound and i spend most of my time playing them. The P08 is actually much better for slow evolving sounds. The absolute worst part about the Poly Evolver is that the filter envelopes do not always retrigger with slow attacks and the sounds get ruined with sharp attacks. Ive considered trading my PE for a PO8 but decided to keep it and save up for a used P08.
@Gtechture i will probably do the same, but i dont know if i can wait till january to get save up. Have you got any idea to get a least a decent pad out of it?
I think it is more than capable of making a decent pad. The trick will be setting the up the filter envelope. Try Program 20 on Bank 1 called Classic Sawtooth. Try these settings for the filter and Filter envelope: 80 attack 99 Decay 20 Sustain 99 release. Filter: Cutoff 18 Resonance 76 Env Amount 37. This should create a very resonant pad where you can really hear the filter working. Let me know how it goes. I think the PE would benefit from one more note of polyphony.
@cprostudio The PE lacks in some areas (not so good a filthy b-line and rich pads for eg) it has plenty that makes up for that. I like that it often surprises me as I'm very much a sonic explorer. It's possible to get nicely evolving sounds out of it, but you need to put a bit of time into programming the modulation to make good use of the mod and pitch wheels, and the key pressure - the later being particularly good for switching between two extremes within pre-set parameters. (more >)
...If you throw an envelope generator or three into the mix it is possible to grow some pretty extended sounds that remain interesting for a while. Not exactly what you're after I know, and there is a richness deficit, but if you push the outs through a small/decent analogue mixer (I use a cheap-ass Behringer 12 channel for my synths) and a bit of thoughtful production, you should get close to what you want.
But I guess it depends how much of a stubborn perfectionist you are though... :)
mhh evolver or not to evolver ... prophet or not to prophet ... poly evolver or not to poly evolver ... maybe all three? I don't know :(

I'd say Virus. You'll get better sound and value and its more pleasant to play. The DSI stuff is cool though.

It doesn't matter how many other modern poly synths I listen to, this one is just the best. It just has an amazing, amazing sound quality.
I'm getting one within the month, and I'm so pumped to twist some of those knobs.
