Dude, groovy! I'm actually looking into the same bass, only the 4 string version. How does this bass play for you? I love the growly tone you're getting there - that's actually the tone I want to get out of it. Could you tell me the settings on the amp you're using, or is it a particular amp that gets you that growl? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to get some info and you really sound like you know what you're doing!
Hey bro thats a sweet sounding bass, did you order it or picked it up at a local music store. and are you using any pedal effects . man it sound really clear you can groove LOL peace !
For those of you who are worried about KSD basses the distribution has been taken over by D'Andrea and there are no problems obtaining customer service. I stupidly loaned out my one and got a replacement neck from D'Andrea within 48hrs from the US to the UK.. A sweet sounding Jazz bass, it out performs many J basses in the funk department. My main axe.
one of the reasons i play bass instead of guitar its my believe that its got a more relaxing, funkier, better, groovier, smooth sound plus theres more picking styles
hello, excellent sound and you play very good, I am about to buy bass lakland 5501 because it has very good neck, that so it is the neck of ksd? perhaps then it changes of opinion and it buys ksd.
Those verse fills are hot! Easily the best cold sweat groove I've heard...i am gonna try and figure out those 2 verse fills you did...the 1st fill sounds like 2 walk ups and sort of muted hammer on.
You are right, the neck is chunky and it's a big and heavy bass. I'm facing the same problem with a case. Asked lots of companies, no one has a case that big. Brooklyn Gear, the company that distributes these basses, doesn't even respond to Emails. That sucks. I'm going on tour this fall and will travel by plane, so I think I need to custom order a case for big bucks. Or leave that bass at home and get a lighter, smaller one with a case? Not quite sure...
Everything is stock on that bass. What you hear in the video is the pure sound of the bass with a little bit of compression. I play it in passive mode only cause I don't really like the sound of the preamp. Too boomy and clanky. I plan on installing an Audere preamp in the near future...
Thanks for the response. I also plan on putting in an Audere preamp. I had actually just got off their website when I first read your comment. Happy jamming....
nice playing but get into it a bit mate u dont have to jst sit there nd i like how u improvised a bit with cold sweat but sum of the main grovved sounded iffy also slappin very nice
KSD proto great bass guitars. I have one on order to add to my arsenal of other basses. Initially I was going to get a Fender but changed my mind after seeing and hearing the KSD.
Excellent. Warm tone with clarity. Not the "squeaky nylon string tone" that many beginners dial in trying to get midrange or escape the "mud". Your use of space on the James Brown groove and playing style is excellent.

I saw this bass on ebay in all black for 200$
just cuz the moron who owned it had a missing tuner head.
He shipped the bass with the string tied into the tuning whole.

Funky playing dude. I recently bought a lefty KSD705. I love it too but it's big and heavy. Can't find a case that will fit it.
