@Winglets68 spike looking thing That come off the winglet?? lol... there are 5 "endings" at the wings to day... the classic ending like on the 777-200 and 737 classics. Wingtip fence like on the A320 family,A310,A300 and A380. Sharklets that will be mounted on the A320 family soon. Winglet/Blended winglet like on the 747,A330/A340/767,737,757 etc... and Raked wingtips like on the 787,767-400ER,777-200LR/300ER.. wingtip fence and winglet are 2 quite different wingtip "endings"
@Winglets68 Airbus A380 do not have winglets... but wingtip fences.. the only airbus having winglets are A330/340... A320 family will come with sharklets soon...
@OjojoHK Most A380s take off with more or less only 80% power. But when it carries heavy load, it's set to at least 90%. When both Rolls Royce and EA GP engines are set to full power, the noise level is the same. You've just never heard GP7000 engines on full throttle before.
@raykrislianggi but rolls royces engines always gets that horrible and painful roar on your ear, like on the 747s, a330s, a380s, and they do not produce as much thrusts/power when compared to GE or P&W engines with no as good fuel efficiencies plus, what i am saying is that Rolls Royce engines has too much engine design flaws, i have never seen GE engines exploding or leading to a disaster as often as rolls royce enignes.
@OjojoHK You've obviously not been looking in the right places. Do some research on the PW4000. That's had more problems than any RR engine. You are also wrong about power outputs. All three companies have similar outputs depending which aircraft they are powering

You know, if you think about it - imagine how much aerodynamic lift that wing is producing....That is one immense lift force! Given an aircraft that can weigh almost one million pounds at MTOW.
@jeffhardycool007 GE90 only wins in term of power. Noise level is still way above RR Trent 900. Despite that, both engines are designed for different classes, so actually there's no comparison.
Put it simply: from the back (economy) it's quiet, from business/first class it's loud. I could swear the Trent 800s on the 777 and the GE90-115Bs on the 777-300ER are a lot quieter than this (not considering the fact that the A380 has four engines)
Still amazing Rolls-Royce Trent 900 sounds :) 5/5

TheTrucker302 3 months ago
@Winglets68 They are calle "Wing Fences", SIlly. They are the same desing as on the A320 Series,A300,and A310. The A330/A3340 have a "Winglet".
mrmoerder 3 months ago
@mrmoerder Nahh, the fences are those little spike looking things that come off the winglets
Winglets68 3 months ago
@Winglets68
No. This is the correct info you can see on Wikipedia.
Winglet - on the 747-400 and A330/A340
Blended winglet (taller) - 737-X00WL, A320neo (sharklet), optional on 757 and 767
Wingtip fence - on the A300, A320, A380.
