I have to say the more that I look at old school drum corps, I tend to like it better. It seems like things in old school drum corps as with in this videos and between the 70s to the mid 90s shows seem to be much deeper.
Man, are those alternate 6's and triple strokes, or 32nds at 0:11? It sounds like 6's but I am seeing the triple stroke roll being led with the right hand so I'm thinking those are 32nds in between those triple stroke rolls. Either way, it's clean and representative of a long bygone era. This is the real deal.
Yes! That's Paul Siebert at the anchor snare position. IMHO, the best there ever was or ever will be. I had the distinct privilege of working with Paul in the middle and late 70's. I was the Caption Head for the Imperials and he was the snare tech. I miss him. And I know that the drum corps world is a better place for having known him. Thanks for the Green Book!!
The first time I saw Rob was at a individual contest in early 1970 in Santa Ana Ca. He took first place. He put on spectacular show. I think he was 13 at the time. Great snare drummer.
AMEN,Friend. Those SCV Drumlines Weren't Just Amazing, They were in the Middle of a 3 year reign in Which the DRUMLINE was UNDEAFEATED in over 50+ shows From 1973thru 1975
Now THAT.... is some stick control.

This is so freaking awesome! When the cymbals are hitting near the end, I can't help but smile. Gotta have it blasting to get the full effect.

This was during the Bob Kalkoffen reign, right? This line was unstopable back in the day. I used to love watching them!

Yes, during the reign of Bob.

Is he still alive? If so what is he doing today? I was in Casper in 76' and he was there but I haven't heard of him since.

Thats Rob Carson at middle snare he was one of the BEST

That is not Rob Carson at center! It is Paul Siebert who passed away, unexpectedly, November 2007.

The warmth and fullness of the 70's drumlines are still inspiring. Brings back great memories in DCI.
