Hmm, how can he be sure he shot it in the heart, when it took off running, and took 5 days to find? There's another video on here that shows an elephant that only made it 50 yds before dying. That's more like getting shot in the heart.

Yeah, this is just dumb and unnecessary.. I'm pro hunt for food and pop control, but this is prolonged pain and therefore cruel.. Next he'll probably hunt a bluewhale with a bow..

Sorry guys, but this is just unecessary brutality. Hunting an elephant with a bow?! This poor animal probably just bled out and had to suffer. I'm not an hunter, but if i would try to hunt, i would choose a weapon that kills immeadiatly to make it quik.

Wer glaubt, dass er einen Elefantenbullen mit 50 Gramm Crabon und Broadhead schnell und effizient (waidmännisch) tötet hat keine von Jagd. Niederwild mit Pfeil und Bogen mag ja denkbar sein aber das Tier ist wahrscheinlich elendig verblutet.

Nach meinem Dafürhalten war das Tierquälerei. Kein Wunder, dass es militante Jagdgegner gibt.

I'm a fanatic archer, but I think it is not the right way to kill an elephant. The head shot with a gun can kill them in few seconds.Actually the best thing is  to let them to live.

I am sorry, I am just as big of hunter as the next guy, good god people, there is one MAJOR thing that I belive in, and that is, if you are going to hunt something do it with something powerful enough to do the job quickly and efficiently. There is no justifiable excuse for hunting a elephant with a bow.

@qazwas202 Sure there is... Its called "Real" Hunting. Using a gun. with high power projectile = impersonal and to easy. Bow = real, human power, 1 shot still equals 1 kill. im with your on the fact of Respect the kill. but the means dont have to justify the ends

I suspect that the bow shot was just a bit low, while the hunter may have hit the heart, it would have had better results if the arrow would have been through the big veins on top of the heart. A lung shot might have been more effective as well. Due to the heart muscle being able to restrict blood loss . I have read of this from hunters useing small cal bullets that lacked the capacity to expand and do max damage.

NO matter how you justify this (too many elephants or whatever) letting a huge animal like that suffer for who knows how long with an arrow in him and slowly bleed to death sux and so does this old fart..you need to feel the pain you inflict on animals when you rot in hell..

Actually, it is quite painless. I have killed elk and deer with my bow that did not even know they were hit. One looked up at the sound of the arrow hitting it and then went back to eating, not realizing that it had been killed.

if any of you idiots had watched the third video you would know why he hunted there. the park he hunted was overpopulated by 30,000 head of elephant that were destroying the habitat to the point of either you kill some to save the lot or they all die a slow and painfull death. and as for killing it with a bow to each their own, he stood as much chance of being crushed to death at the 35 yrd distance he took it at as he did of killing it.

Bummer, this is the benefit of a high power 416 dropping it where you shoot. The elephants are smart too they know to run into the protected park! He really should have counted on it doing that! None the less that shot must have been spot on.
