Obviously they are both going in reverse or else there would be no strain on the motor. If the Snap on was in reverse and the IR was forward, they would be spinning the same direction. They are spinning opposite therefore they are both in reverse.
I use two of these over the past 4 years. have only had to replace the trigger switch $60 and the little anvil rings that hold the socket on the end on each of them. I work in a salvage yard and let me tell you what>> old nuts and bolts ain't got nothing on newer fords "blue glue PLUS galvanic rust". I call it Blrust. Lots of Blue locktite and dissimilar metal corrosion. You will find this TRUE test in the torx 50 bed bolts of the late 90's and 2000+ models of ford trucks. Youtube THAT!
@Elrrick, a good friend of mine I worked with at Performance Dodge had an IR half inch impact pushing over 1000 breakaway torque, a charger came in for some tire work his impact couldn't bust off the lug nuts, so I let him use my Snap On impact pursuing only 750 break away torque. My gun took them right off with ease. Hence the motto, "Snap on, there is a difference."
tool people KNOW impacts have more tork in reverse, and of COURSE here the Snapon is going in reverse. So where is the one where the IR gets to go reverse vs. the Snapon forward, HUH?? Buncha BS....
@MitsuEclipse06 Damn straight! Mac rules. My shop is back on the Mac trucks route after him being down for about 2 months. I've got a shopping list ready to go! haha
My home made RINKY- DINKY 3000HD solar power kung fu grip break away chuck multi task with a cup holder on the side will take on any of the drill on there best day. Bring it on. Call now and I will ship two for the price of one.
Anyone else notice that the strap on in this video is in reverse? Everyone that has used an impact much at all should know that they are more powerfull in reverse than they are in forward. Don't believe me? look at the specs and all of them have a higher brakeaway torque rating. Show me a video of these two guns but this time let the IR go in reverse and see what happens. Bet we never see that video.
@roblee841 if u notice, start the video at 10 seconds. the IR gun is in reverse to start. the snap-on gun starts in reverse and out powers the IR gun. thats why it looks like the IR gun is going forward.
@laukc7085 It's people like you that have more money than brains that buy the over priced snap-on. If you knew how to use an impact gun you would be able to tell that the IR is in forward the whole time. The operator doesn't change the direction of the IR, it starts turning backwards due to the snap-on turning backwards. Every impact gun I've ever used has a higher torque rating in reverse than forward. Doesn't matter if it's air, electric, or cordless.
@laukc7085 It's people that don't know what they are talking about that blow their money on ever priced snap-on products. Learn which direction to turn a bolt to loosen it or learn how an impact operates before making another comment on this post to keep yourself from looking completely stupid. The IR starts in forward and the operator never changes the direction. It changes direction due to the snap-on, which is in reverse. Change directions! Like I said before, We won't see that video.
@roblee841 so your blind and stupid. what direction does the IR gun start rotating? counter-clockwise. what direction do you break bolts free in? thats right, counter-clockwise. so the IR gun is going in reverse too. if thats too hard for you to follow, think about this. if the snap-on gun is in reverse and is facing the IR gun which is in forward, they would both be spinning the same way. if they were spinning the same way, the IR gun wouldnt be smoking at the end. think before you speak.
I'm on the fence regarding the Matco MCL18IWVS 1/2 " ballbreaker, vs the Milwaukee 2663-22. The Milwakee has slightly higher advertised working torque spec--450 vs 425 (no "break-away" torque listed for the Milwakee) It's way
cheaper, lighter & smaller than the Matco. If a gun is too bulky to get in on the fastener, it's purpose is defeated. Milwaukee warranty: 5 years to Matco's 1, although Milwaukee's is only for mfr's defects.
(CON'T) Milwaukee also makes a 3/4" gun rated at 525 (!) ft lbs of working torque. It's actually shorter than the Matco & weighs the same. The Matco kit, w/1 battery, 1 charger & 1 gun is actually $10 more than the Milwaukee's 3/4", gun, plus the 1/2" gun, plus 2 batteries & a charger. Then again, is Milwaukee overstating their torque rating? Is Matco? Aside from the "put-down" type remarks here on youtube, I haven't heard anything negative re either gun. Any real world examples out there?
I have the same IR tool. I tried the SnapOn before I made me purchase. The snap on has the same working torque (155 ft/lbs in reverse) but uses a nickel cadmium battery and that was the deal breaker. With batteries installed, the SnapOn gun weighed about twice as much as the IR. The IR uses lithium batteries. I have been using my IR IQv battery and tools since 2006 and it still works like new. No NiCd battery from any major manufacturer has lasted me that long.
Matco 18v lithium mcl18iwvs 725 lb rev., 425 lb for. I have one; better than any snap-on including ct6855 at the same exact weight w/ battery(6.8lbs.). I would love to see a detailed review on these two guns. Another gun to look out for is milwaukee hd18hiw. Ir is not even close as far as torque. Research dumbasses. But ill put any gun up against my matco. Now shut the fuck up!!!!!!!!
I'm so sick of this "which impact can overpower the other" test that doesn't mean anything. How about you actually test the performance of the tools, like how quickly they crack bolts loose, how long the battery lasts before charging, how much it can tighten a bolt, etc. Anybody who uses tools like these knows the actual performance of these tools in a shop varies between them far more than their specs on paper.
This Vid Is Bull Shit!!!!!!I Had No Problems W/ My IRs....Even When Snap-on Has To Copy IRs Designs For Blue Point....MAKE UR OWN GODDAMN GUNS FOR CRIST SAKE!!!!!!!
yeah i agree its total BS. ive never done that with an impact to get a job done. snap on makes world class tools but they are greatly overpriced. its kind of like a pizza delivery guy thinking he needs a caddilac to deliver pizza. it would be nice but its extravagently unnecessary. i have over a ton of tools where i work (litteraly) (including box)) and its because i dont waste money on king of the hill BS instead of getting everything i need to get the job done well.
true but snap-on are god i had both and snap-on lasted longer and im in the heavy duty equipment game the hardest game in the world that is apart from being in the AIRBORNE that is not the QUEER MARINES prrrfff AIRBORNE EASY MY ASS 1 2 3 4 I WANT TO JOIN THE MARINE CORE QUEEERS !!!!
1rst off. In real life u would never hammer on anything for 5min with an elec impact wrench. the I.R spinns the snap on backwards the hole time.snap ons makin them selfs look bad.lol
i think they dabbed a'lil bit of oil on the contacts... LOL really cmon guys these tools arent meant for bs like this. its for fastening/removing nuts and bolts W T F...
Ingersoll-rand claims that their impact wrench is the most powerful. It is not. That's why Snap-On made this demonstration video. Yes; the Snap-on gun is more expensive. It is also better. Just like a mercedes is a better (and more expencive) car than Skoda.
sorry to say snap on makes some pretty good electric impacts. 1/2 inch electric will rip apart mostly anything in are shop. if it cant you you better just go get the 3/4 air impact
What a bullcrap this comparison is! First, the two guns have to be rated at the same torque, rpm, power and others to be fair. If you put a 300 lbs torque wrench against one that is 600 lbs torque, the 600 lbs is going to win every single time. How cheap can Snap On to even make this video. This shows how cheap they are...
Crap-On... overpriced bullshit! If you got more money than you know what to do with.. buy Snap-On... If your a workin man like me and got a family to support..IR!
I had my Snap On CT4850 for close to 3 years before the NiCd battery started to fade in run time. Instead of buying a new 2.4Ah battery ($100+), i had a local shop (Batteries Plus) rebuild the battery pack using 4.6 Ah NiMH sub C cells. Thats almost double the run time with a BETTER battery chemistry. Now my gun REALLY rocks. The best this is that a rebuild service cost me roughly $50.
This is not a fair fight! of course the snappy is going to smoke the IR. These guns are in different leagues. IR 350lbs and the snap on 650lbs. Its just a marketing video. NOT a fair fight!
I have to say this "Snap On is definaatlly the best tools on the planet, Snap on cost quite a bit more than second best, You guys that dont like snap on are just poor bastards that dont want to spend the money for the absolute best tools. I used to by snap on excusiveley, but i dont anymore unless they are the only one that has what I want, but i still believ they are the best!! Hands down!
@tbonejackone Dont think so , i have a milwaukee and it has no chance against the snap on 4850 , the only thing better about the milwaukee is that it has the lithium iron batterys and not ni-cad , and i think snap on did copy the milwaukee better battery connecting design ( apart from it wont fit on both ways ) as the early snap on design was crap and made the terminals drop off on the older guns
I've used milwaukee and snap on's 1/2 inch 18 volt rechargable both running nicad batteries, fully charged, Im a snap on fanatic, but have to say I'll be sticking to milwaukee for power tools, better torques, longer battery life and a slighty better value.
LoL. I love these video's. Snap-On is giving a good "show". They know how to sell their tools. "Snakes". I've been to 3 tool shows and their all the same. Telling these kids "their" the best. When they're comparing old Matco and MAC tools, and putting it up against their latest and greatest. It's hilarious.
Just FYI SNAP ON DOES NOT MAKE THEIR OWN AIR TOOLS!! THEY DO NOT HAVE A MANUFACTURING PLANT FOR THEM. IR AND SUNEX ANT CP WILL MANUFACTURE TO THEIR TOLERANCES BUT THEY DO NOT MAKE THEIR OWN. THEY HAVE NEVER HAD A GOOD IMPACT YET AND IVE SEEN THEM BRAKE IN MY SHOP 50 TIMES INCLUDING MY OLD ONE. IR WILL SMOKE THEM IN THE AIR TOOL WAR.
Booh.Matcos lithium Ion is 725 lbs of break away torque. snappy only 630. The tiny little secret here is even air impacts won't turn Snappys backwards because they have a 1 to 1 ratio on there anvil. Torque a fastener down to 725 lbs and snappy wont touch it. Matco will brake it loose in two seconds no comparrison. Turning it backwards is like a snake oil salesman its not apples to apples
@novasja400 your full of shit I will put my snap on tools up against matco anyday. first of dahnear makes your hand tools same company makes craftsmen and KD. You torque angle torque wrench is KD you want $500 for it and you can buy it from KD with the same warranty for $260 matco is a fucking scam.
@novasja400 A trick I used when I was in the tool business was to take a 1/2 drill and put up against a impact. The drill will turn the impact backwars everytime and damn near brake the guys hand with the impact. The drill has tourque at the hit of the trigger and the impact does not. Then the first time the impact anvil slips the hammer the drill will turn it backwards. "SNAKEOIL" SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
oh this is such bull shit. The snap on gun costs over $500+ where the IR is half the price, and they are not even in the same power group, the snap on Is 650lb and the IR is 350lb of tourq, this is a bulshit demo for marketing, there comparing apples to oranges. booo
@gemydaloot This was a demo on how much better the snapon gun is compared to the IR. there was a big hype about IR and other guns trying to say its better and stronger than the snapon. so snapon stepped it up and did this video. they also made other videos with other guns against the snapon. I have the snapon cordless gun and wouldnt trade it for anything unless they made a better one, so therefor it is a great comparison. try both and see for urself
@gemydaloot They all do it so what is your point matco, mac and the rest of them do it hell matco will not even let an open debate on a youtube vidieo. Atleast snap allows and open debate.
@gemydaloot I do believe the new ct6850 Snap-on is rated at 620 breakaway torque but 400 max output. not sure but I'll ask. so today it is apples to apples. today's IRW360kit is around $490.00 at 360 ftlbs . pretty close to Snap-on $555.00 at 400 ft lbs
@cesmegi1 damn you are a retard why dont you learn how to say "the snap off is a pos that i have to bulk up (just like the dealer) and say "breakaway torque" WTF is breakaway torque any way? do you mean reverse torque since thats what it is.
@cesmegi1 uh ive never seen it.yeah some douches make vids of it but ive never seen a real ir vid that says "breakaway torque". breakaway torque isnt even real torque.you only get that amount if youre lucky
i got a dewalt 36v and it rocks, i used to have a snap-on but the battery's were junk,i bought i don't know how many before i said fuck it. + the dewalt was 75$ cheeper
Lol the battery life in mine is decent but i dont know what you mean about the small bolts, anything under a 10mm bolt and mine just shears the thing in half without any problem
Well it does cost over $600. Oh and it comes with only one battery. Also a battery cost around $200. Also when that 1 year warranty is up on your Matco ask what to do then? I was told that I was SOL from the dealer. Snap-on all the way.
Its not always about torque, a friend of mine has the 1/2 in 1000 torque Ingersol Rand impact and I have the Snap-on XT7100, twin hammer 700 torque. He couldnt get a lug nut off with his gun, I let him use mine and it came right off. He said he wants a refund.
Say all you want the Snap-on ct4550ho is the best cordless impact gun I have ever used. I/R sounded like plastic on plastic hammering. My snapon is a real Tool. Metal guts
Both guns where set at Reverse, and Even then the IR got a head starts, then the snap on comes in and stops it dead and starts turning it without a problem
the non snap on ratchet gun is better if you have a look the non snap on gun is turning clockwise and the snap on anti clock wise, wich means the non snap on could not out strength it..
Obviously they are both going in reverse or else there would be no strain on the motor. If the Snap on was in reverse and the IR was forward, they would be spinning the same direction. They are spinning opposite therefore they are both in reverse.

@novasja400 your full of shit and have no idea what your talking about!
HunterCO1 1 year ago
Booh.Matcos lithium Ion is 725 lbs of break away torque. snappy only 630. The tiny little secret here is even air impacts won't turn Snappys backwards because they have a 1 to 1 ratio on there anvil. Torque a fastener down to 725 lbs and snappy wont touch it. Matco will brake it loose in two seconds no comparrison. Turning it backwards is like a snake oil salesman its not apples to apples
novasja400 1 year ago
@novasja400 your full of shit I will put my snap on tools up against matco anyday. first of dahnear makes your hand tools same company makes craftsmen and KD. You torque angle torque wrench is KD you want $500 for it and you can buy it from KD with the same warranty for $260 matco is a fucking scam.
HunterCO1 1 year ago
@novasja400 A trick I used when I was in the tool business was to take a 1/2 drill and put up against a impact. The drill will turn the impact backwars everytime and damn near brake the guys hand with the impact. The drill has tourque at the hit of the trigger and the impact does not. Then the first time the impact anvil slips the hammer the drill will turn it backwards. "SNAKEOIL" SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

best 450 bucks i ever spent

Best wrench. Own it. Use it everyday. Nothing compares cordless impact wise.
72Chevelle944358 2 years ago
oh this is such bull shit. The snap on gun costs over $500+ where the IR is half the price, and they are not even in the same power group, the snap on Is 650lb and the IR is 350lb of tourq, this is a bulshit demo for marketing, there comparing apples to oranges. booo
gemydaloot 2 years ago 42
@gemydaloot This was a demo on how much better the snapon gun is compared to the IR. there was a big hype about IR and other guns trying to say its better and stronger than the snapon. so snapon stepped it up and did this video. they also made other videos with other guns against the snapon. I have the snapon cordless gun and wouldnt trade it for anything unless they made a better one, so therefor it is a great comparison. try both and see for urself
dorism1225 1 year ago 2
@gemydaloot They all do it so what is your point matco, mac and the rest of them do it hell matco will not even let an open debate on a youtube vidieo. Atleast snap allows and open debate.
HunterCO1 1 year ago
@gemydaloot wrong dipshit that is IR's badest gun they don't have anything to keep up with snap and that is not snap ons fault now is it.
HunterCO1 1 year ago
@gemydaloot hey bro what u have to look at in the price is the quality of the battery. with crap-on ur not getting crap.
davidlee98052 1 year ago
@gemydaloot I do believe the new ct6850 Snap-on is rated at 620 breakaway torque but 400 max output. not sure but I'll ask. so today it is apples to apples. today's IRW360kit is around $490.00 at 360 ftlbs . pretty close to Snap-on $555.00 at 400 ft lbs
cesmegi1 1 year ago
@cesmegi1 damn you are a retard why dont you learn how to say "the snap off is a pos that i have to bulk up (just like the dealer) and say "breakaway torque" WTF is breakaway torque any way? do you mean reverse torque since thats what it is.
robby844 1 year ago
@robby844 IR also promotes there Impact with " Breakaway torque" What's the big deal?
cesmegi1 1 year ago
@cesmegi1 uh ive never seen it.yeah some douches make vids of it but ive never seen a real ir vid that says "breakaway torque". breakaway torque isnt even real torque.you only get that amount if youre lucky
robby844 1 year ago
@robby844 that's true... it's on the initial first couple hits. that's why I included output torque on my post.
cesmegi1 1 year ago
@gemydaloot can you show me a better cordless impact wrench? if not i suggest you shut the fuck up!

@gemydaloot oh comeon i dont care about which is better i wanted to see a good drill smoke >:D

And that is why Snap-On is number one. The only downfall is your tool bill.

i got a dewalt 36v and it rocks, i used to have a snap-on but the battery's were junk,i bought i don't know how many before i said fuck it. + the dewalt was 75$ cheeper
dewalt23293 2 years ago
I got one and hate the battery life. Wish I got Dewault or Milwaukee
I don't really think it puts out the torque snap on claims either it struggles with lots of light stuff and can't even snap small bolts.
Then again my snap on guy is a bastard he may have sold me a reject or something
arabrockerman 2 years ago
Lol the battery life in mine is decent but i dont know what you mean about the small bolts, anything under a 10mm bolt and mine just shears the thing in half without any problem
wwwNooBcom 2 years ago
Well mine does after i got the battery replaced. XD i love it now
arabrockerman 2 years ago
ive got one and its a beast!

Matco's new Infinium kills this gun by 120 ft lbs of torque!!!!
glunner 2 years ago
Who makes that new matco gun? I know matco sublets alot out, I wonder if it's a makita
hink9 2 years ago
its an IR like alot of Snap-on air tools are
lovemym16 2 years ago
Sorry, Snap-On makes all of their own air and cordless tools. It is Mac, Matco and Cornwell that has IR or CP make their air tools.
farmerx2x 2 years ago
Well it does cost over $600. Oh and it comes with only one battery. Also a battery cost around $200. Also when that 1 year warranty is up on your Matco ask what to do then? I was told that I was SOL from the dealer. Snap-on all the way.
mister2nr 2 years ago
Its not always about torque, a friend of mine has the 1/2 in 1000 torque Ingersol Rand impact and I have the Snap-on XT7100, twin hammer 700 torque. He couldnt get a lug nut off with his gun, I let him use mine and it came right off. He said he wants a refund.

Say all you want the Snap-on ct4550ho is the best cordless impact gun I have ever used. I/R sounded like plastic on plastic hammering. My snapon is a real Tool. Metal guts

IR is nothing but plastic.

Seriously?!?! "nothing but plastic"?? I'm going to have to vote that one a big Thumbs Down
ZZR12oo 2 years ago
Both guns where set at Reverse, and Even then the IR got a head starts, then the snap on comes in and stops it dead and starts turning it without a problem
wwwNooBcom 3 years ago
the non snap on ratchet gun is better if you have a look the non snap on gun is turning clockwise and the snap on anti clock wise, wich means the non snap on could not out strength it..
pocketlife 3 years ago
you chat shit the snapon is stronger because both tools are in the strongest setting which is reverse/anticlockwise setting
jaggafeen 3 years ago 7
@jaggafeen if both were going anti-clockwise... they would travel in the same direction.
