  • I remember getting on board and learning how to secure the ship with ropes.

  • I really like this cool, laid back tour of my old boot camp areas...

    different music, too...

    Well done!

  • I finished my breakfast, and upon exiting realized my platoon had already left the grinder for the barracks without me. In a panic, I retreated to one of the admin. buildings and inquired what I was to do as I wasn't sure if my ass was gonna' be in a sling for brain-farting my platoon exit. The MP just directed me to go to double-time back to my barrack and everything would be fine. I returned to my barrack to find that noone even realized I was gone.

  • Interesting vid, though for some reason just cannot remember engaging in any training on "the Recruit" ship. I spent my boot-camp assignment there back in 1979.

I remember the bridge from one side; admin., medical, logistics, chow hall, and it crossed over to the barracks side. One morning I got confused, got up from my seat in chow hall to do something (?) and returned to wrong bench / table (everyone looks alike).

  • this video brings back old memories thanks for uploading it

  • Thanks for the tour. Went through Basic there Sept. - Dec., 1962 and returning to San Diego first time next month (Sept '09) for ship reunion. Will be touring Liberty Station then. P.S. I could have used some audio narration or subtitles. I didn't recognize very much.

  • Thanks for the tour. I was there in 1966 and while it is very different now it still looks familiar. Especially the Recruit.

  • Beautiful area..
