Surge of thoughtweft will not save your creature in the first place. Nameless inversion would remove the Kithkin type from your skirmisher, making it a 5/-1, or a 6/0 after Surge has resolved. So no one would use Dark Banishing anyway.

You can cast instant whenever you have a priority, even when the stack is empty.

he means, you can only cast instants like, in response to stuff being put on the stack... he knows u can cast instants whenever u want... he means u cant cast other stuff, only instants, during the stack.
