Cos it is interesting to know that when Britain was developing, it had the highest tariff rate in the world; then when Britain had strong enough industry, it opened its markets to free trade - that is only when it had a powerful enough industry to compete with the outside world. And nowadays we enforce free trade on developing countries, when we in our infancy of a nation protected our industries. Seems like kicking away the ladder if you ask me...
