Hi, I'm thinking about adding a sump/refugium to my 29 biocube and I'm wondering what supplies I'd need (skimmer, powerhead, piping, and the sump itself). Who did you have make your refugium and what're the dimensions of it? And how did you arrange the overflow and return in the back of the biocube? Sorry for the 20 questions, thanks.
As for the skimmer on a nano sump, I would recommend a in-sump skimmer similar to the one in this video. The tunze 9002 would be a great choice b/e of its small foot print. The piping can be made out of PVC, the size depending on the size of the bulkhead. Simply drill the back of the cube and install the bulkhead. As for the sump, you can easily make one out of some acrylic. Just cut the pieces, weldon them together, and use a router to trim up the edges. Then all you need is a return pump
Just wondering if you had a problem with your skimmer filling the cup with water really fast when you first set it up? As I have just set up my new nano doc 9002 and the bubbles shoot up and overfill the collection in like 5 min. I know skimmers need to run in but to fill that fast is kinda crap. Tank is only a week old and the only inhabitants are two bio colourd chromis and of cours live rock and sand.
awesome setup, small and easy to run. love the peacock too. had a smithii mantis for almost a year and a half. to bad the peacock will for sure out grow a small cool set up like that. but as for the skimmer, how has it been? looking to get one just woundering.
Where did you get the mantis?
