its funny you are saying all this without reading the book. its awesome it shows that it is possible to get to a place where you can get out of poverty. May come to this country with even less than what he had and they survive without forever living on gov support.

I am delighted to learn that the American Dream is still available to english-speaking, middle-class, COLLEGE EDUCATED WHITE boys who go slumming. This boy is sick, stupid and lacking emotional and economic depth. How many women worked at those construction and furniture-moving jobs? When you hurt your back on those jobs, that $5K you saved the first year is wiped-out. While your back is mending, you will not be paid, and medical bills will pile up since those jobs don't offer health insurance.

I think it is very interesting that most who respond have only negative comments to make. I notice that none of them have tried to test their own abilities in the same fashion. I guess it's much easier to denigrate the efforts of others. Hats off to you Adam. I hope your ARE able to parlay your experience into cash. You earned it honestly.

A good contrast to this is Lawrence Otis Graham's book about volunteering as a busboy at an elite country club. Graham, who is a Harvard educated attorney, and black, and has about fifty I.Q. points on Mr. Shepherd here, does not have a positive experience, to say the least.
The funny thing about Shepherd is that he does not even see what a leg up he's already gotten from mommy and daddy. The world would chew this kid up and spit him out, if he had to make it on his own from day one.

Yea, everyone should come out of the womb and stop mooching off their mother and father. Humans are so dependent it makes me sick. They have to be cared for for the first 12-13 years of their life. WTF! Join my facebook group: YouTubers for letting infants rely on themselves from day 1!!!
