  • hands down my favorite band!

  • a punk band would be awsome to be in

  • So sad.

  • zero dislikes.. nice

  • 8 years later, they're still great

  • Seriously, One of the best bands to ever come out of the NW.

  • Seems like Adam channeled both Bob Stinson and Paul Westerberg in this performance, only a little less drunk.

  • just awesome band. Reminds me of the beat

  • /watch?v=DYZMIE6VDkQ

  • "Only the good die young" -Greg Sage of the Wipers

  • My favorite band along with the Replacements, both my biggest musical influences and, sadly, both gone.

  • @thrashin89 You don't live in the Bay Area, do you??? Because I've been looking for other people who are heavily influenced by those two bands, but almost no one in my hometown seems to know who the fuck they are! If you play guitar, bass or drums, contact me ASAP!

  • 0 dislikes.......atleast some youtube videos are safe

  • Its a shame they're gone

  • I love the voice of the singer.

  • these guys remind me of clorox girls, wish i could have seen them live

  • @asdqwezxc69 Iggy is way better than Cobain.

  • so sad...rip the exploding hearts

  • Oh come on this is so not the mainsteam garbagio that most of us listen to when it comes to punk or whatever its called. I wish they all lived.

  • I found Guitar Romantic in 2005 and listened to it almost everyday. I was totally blown away by this band. I wanted to see if I could find more music from them so I started looking around on the internet one day. I was really sad to find out that they only put out one record before their accident. You can tell from this record that they would have been a big in a few years. Every song on the record was good.

  • Damn did this bands music make me feel so alive. I was only 23 at the time, and boy was it exhilarating!

  • theyre in hell drinking a beer with the devil calling all you guys pussies right now.

  • great band. they went about a million years too soon. R.I.P

  • why do the best always die? John Lennon, Keith Moon, Jimi Hendrix, and the Exploding Hearts were amazing, now they're all gone.

  • Thanks for posting this. There fuggin rocked.

  • the nice boys are like rubbing salt in the wounds

  • I was so reluctant to watch this because I never got the chance to see them live, and as I guessed, they're just as amazing live. Man, the good ones always go young.

  • Saw them on new years 2003 they were amazing. Best punk band to come out of Portland while I lived here. Never knew em but it still brings a tear to my eye to see this.

  • what happened to them???

  • On there way back home to San Francisco, there van flipped over and its killed 3 of the 4 members. Terry Six and the manager survived

  • dude that sucks... these guys are awesome

  • @GDlespaul yes it duz, it hurts! i love sleeping aids and razorblades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tear jerking.

  • this is so amazing but bittersweet and awful at the same time

    RIP

  • where was the last show?

  • This is how we should remember them... the slashing guitars, the amazing songs, the white denim, the pink spray-paint. In our hearts; they don't get old, or grow fat... they won't break-up, or go bald. They are "perfect" in our memory. Sure, we lament what could have/should have been... that is natural, but be glad that "they" happened... be happy that they have left an amazing template for others to follow. Remember them and smile... and turn it up a lil' bit!

  • theyre so fucking talented. i love em

  • These guys had the power pop/ 77 style music going.. If you never knew it you'd sware they were an older band.. What a shame .

  • They could have been the 2000s power pop version of the Replacements. Damn shame...

  • @nycalling72 mmmm sorry man, these were (are) a really good band but there isn't nobody like The Mats and that one is exactly the reason: the Exploding Hearts could be a "power pop version of"(in my opinion they are more like The Boys, Buzzcocks...) but the Mats has not a genre, they are over the aesthetic and the styles and you can feel their same force and sensibilty along different albums... ;)

  • @nycalling72 These guys are waaaaay better than the replacements.

  • @megafaded69 Hah, I absolutely love both bands but you are high.

  • @drewblood Well, I get the argument on The Replacement's behalf, but Nirvana wasn't good enough to compensate for the negative effect they had on music.

  • @megafaded69 dumb

  • @megafaded69 nirvana had a negative effect on music? news to me.

  • @thatgibbyguy I guess you never heard Pearl Jam or Hole.

  • These kids would of been big as fuck if they didnt die, i love them so much. I always listen to their cd when i am at the beach, for some reason their songs sound so great at the beach.

  • it fuckin' deppresses the shit out of me knowin' they died 3 days after this was filmed.

    seriously the biggest dissapointment ever.

    they were sooooooooooo young =(

  • yeah, definitley.

if you like the exploding hearts you should look up the terry six interview about the crash and the success of the band.

he talks in alot of detail.

    google it.

  • i alreay did it was great

    deppressing as fuck though,

but it kindof brought closure kindof.

    i don't know

the hearts are my favorite band, and i'm pretty sure there gonna be for as long as i'm alive.

  • fuckin' rad rickenbacker

  • Listen everyone inspired by this! Pick up a real instrument not a stupid Rock band videogame one and start a band we need more good bands like this!!

  • The best comment I have ever read!

  • I agree, regardless, rock band is really fun at parties.

  • exactly, keep your local scene going!

  • @ZOMBIBLOOD yeah i think real guitars are actually easier to play

  • soo bloody cool

  • i cant believe they died. =/

they definitely had the 77 spirit

  • i love them <3

  • Hey, just curious- any Cute Lepers fans on here?

For those who don't know, The Cute Lepers are the new band fronted by The Briefs' lead singer, and they are very much in the same musical vein as The Exploding Hearts- a very similar blend of '77-style punk and Powerpop, with a similar punk/mod style.

Since The Exploding Hearts have sadly been taken from us, it's great that there are still bands continuing that kind of sound! Check 'em out if you haven't!

  • Cute Lepers are a great band and nice people.

  • Youre so right. Cute Lepers are fantastic!!

  • i went to one of their shows here, great people.

  • Thanks so much for posting these!

  • Wow...

I didn't think I'd ever see this band.

    I'm speechless.

  • soo freaky, three days later they would die.

    R.I.P

  • RIP <3

  • a band so gnar gnar, by all logic and reason should not die. ever. the exploding hearts were the epitome of bad ass. it shouldn't have ended so soon.

  • gnar gnar?

  • that last comment came out wrong sorry.

    plz forgive!!!

  • nice upload!!!

  • So grateful that this is up here! I only found out they'd been touring after their accident and never had a chance to see them. This is the first footage I've come across. Many thanks.

  • A FUCKING LEGEND.

  • just stop leaving comments

  • brilliant

  • i love these fuckers

  • what a sad and tragic story.

I always tear up at the part in "I'm a Pretender" where the lyrics go 'just won't cry cuz my life's goin' by,

i'll find someone before the day i die'...

    They were way too young....RIP

  • his SG is awesome

  • It was a Mosrite.

  • what a tragedy

  • holy fuck i never saw this! amazinngggg. the exploding hearts were fuckin great.

by the way, at the beginning i hear some from the casualties' "unknown soldier" fading haha

  • I didn't discover these guys until after the tragedy. Fuck! I love them. I bought their Guitar Romantic album and it rotates around with my old school punk and hardcore. Fucking love the Exploding Hearts, and it sucks I never saw them live.

  • fucking amazing.

    i love these dudes.
