Mirkwood archers need pretty decent sentries to stand any chance (unless you're playing against *shudder* Mordor). So in 1v1 rush battles you essentially have to get the archers (lvl 2 barracks) and sentries and silverthorn arrows (lvl 3 Forge) before they're that good, at which point Men's or Dwarves' infantry units have disintegrated your base.
Plus, I've had an entire battalion of MA taken out by one catapult shot. In no-rush, a well armed, micro-managed and mixed-up army can kill them off.
wow this game is wrong. there should be very few but very powerful elves like in third age total war. elves have excellent melee capabilities; like the high elf spearmen.
as soon as they shut down the servers they stopped selling the game in stores. That is so sad that a beautiful game such as this has to killed by the people who made it. Look at counter-strike for god sake its a decade old and people still play it, y can they do the same with the BFME games?

And they're very uncreative; usually they start out assaulting whomever is the closest to them (with that strategy). Playing teams with AIs I've actually had them attack my allies' resource buildings when they started out close to each other and completely ignoring mine.
Out of all different types of things that you could be what would you be out of these: Ranger, Warrior or Mage. Personally i would be a Ranger because you get bow cloak learn how to not been see, stealth throwing knives, hunting skills, ect.
Btw great video tip I already plan most thing for elves but I think you forgot to meation a few things elves can hide in woods and ambush the enemy forces..

Goblins easily can kill the elves because you just hit and run their resources for fucks sake. Then just get back attacking cavalry.. >_>

elves are just gay in this game, there is no need of strategy skill to play with elves at all: lorien archers + silver-horn arrows = end of the game. The bfme2 has 5 factions and 1 uber factions the elves. when i play with my friends on lan or online we usually ban the elves because we all agree there is no fun to play if we all know who will win. elves are the race that made to people who can not play or can not accept loosing. if i show the game to someone i tell them to start with elves

indeed but i took out a isengard player with three lighting fortresses by using glorfindel and his attack squad and ent spam behind his base needless to say not even saurman can stand up to the mirkwood archers with their upgraded bows
I like to draw my emeny into a straight pitch fight with sentries infront of archers this will usually cause them to bring in archers into the fight from their defences, then I circle round with a set of lancers, usually 2 battallions with glorfindel mounted to mop 'em up or they will bring artillery up to clear your sentries though the same tactic can be used. Then you can pull your archers back into towers with upgraded arrows and pull your sentries out to draw them into fire range of towers.
This guy is a total noob. Look around 2:30 when he summons the ents. He has 4 ents from the summon instead of 3. This means that this is NOT patch 6. Subscribe to my channel for better information because I'm beginning to do shoutcasts of bfme2.

low hp and light armour ???? we experimented with a buddy and we pitted 6 uruk batalions and 6 elvish battalions ( swordmen with no upgreats at all for both sides ) the elves OWNED them
@zombahkiller01 I agree with you. The test is fairest with 1 vs 1 and the uruks get to be on shield wall formation. That wasn't mentioned in the test but it is VITAL to have uruks in this stance. I think it would be a lot closer than "ownage."
but i'm being serious, the Noldor got their asses handed to them in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, the Grey Elves (the elves of Doriath) were never attacking, always ont he defensive, Gondolin got its butt wooped, Nargothrond fell, pretty much all the elf brothers that came over (such as Turgon, Fingolfin, Fingon) all died
Thingol (king of the Grey Elves) was the smartest; always play the defensive
2 Pikemens in front and 3 archers at the back is the proper formation.. and 2 lancers out there raiding around.. once ur vision see an infantry units, rush your lancer to them, if its a pikeman, dont go suicide.
and only if you had elrond at rank 7 to use his restoration to put glorfindel's blade of purty back to recharge.
but seriously, all rank 10 heroes on elves and all rank 10 on men = Aragorn use AOTD = killed all the elf heroes minus glorfindel until 20 seconds went by :S

are elves the only ones without proper siege units? aka Catapults rams and the like. I know the goblins only have mountain Giants but those work well on buildings and can be made while Ents can only be summoned.

no. gloorfindel and elrond and haldir can (as a trio) take down any fort cause of blade of purity, elrond's restoration which is heal AND recharge all special abilities, and haldir just has good melee. then after elrond heals/recharges everyone, glorfindel using blade of purity AGAIN. = fort down.
no...the 4 frontal heroes have swords and can take down structures much faster than legolas or thranduil. thranduil is good for garbage like custom helms deep maps or w/e. rank 7 elrond and rank 8 arwen and rank 3 glorfindel pretty much ensure a win. glorfindel blade of purity, all 3 of them + haldir attack the fort, low hp, arwen's heal, low hp again, elrond's restoration, use blade of purity AGAIN, and then arwen's heal AGAIN, and guaranteed win. use your brain...
@Favre4Eva4 not exactly. You are not giving enough credit to thranduil and legolas who are FAR superior to arwen. They just cost a lot but with proper micro you can pick off a rediculous # of enemy troops with them. Legolas has held of entire armies before. I was once mordor in a ffa on buckland and legolas and thranduil were able to hold off all 3 nazgul which is something that 2 arwens wouldn't have a chance of doing.
yeah, and when it comes to taking down a base, you gonna use thranduil and legolas? don't think so. get arwen at rank 8, elrond at 7, glorfindel at w/e, and haldir at w/e, and any base is down in minutes, army attacking you or not.
@Favre4Eva4 nay I have a different way of playing. Once you have thranduil/legolas at a high level then they can hold off practically any army. Then what you do is gain map control and build malorn trees everywhere. You go for upgrades instead of heroes. Once you get upgraded swords and maybe armor then you move out with lorien warriors and lancers. I'm not bashing elrond/glorfindel but I think that my way works very well too.
@Favre4Eva4 glorfindel has the lowest armor of all elven heroes, dying even faster than arwen under direct fire. learn these thingsssssssssssssssssssss. and its important to know that while in mythology, elves are greater than men, but in this game their str > men, their defense < men.

Yes? But all the battles were fought by elves... Dwarfs didn´t appeared too much. Men were too weak, too "young" in the world. And in the Silmarillion, Elves were too powerful, always was. The difference, is that in the third age of the middle earth, they were too few compare to men.
in the Silmarillion, they were not too powerful. the Valar just had so much love and affection towards them that they brought them to Valinor to see hte light ot the two trees, not becasue they were too powerful.
@PreTest04 because Arwen dies to quick. she is only strong with surrounded by other heroes. It takes like forever for her to get to level 10. Elves are nos strong people in physical man.

they are great. you go and take the buildings (fords of isen) and make it seem like your not by not giving them time to look, and then build like 3, send with warriors and lots of archers, they're gonna have troubles recovering

BFME2 is the only game I have ever owned both for a console and the PC.
The PC version is better in most respects, graphics (potential), control layout, and most of the "little" things in the game (on the xb360 it's hard to end figure out what army you are choosing on the selection screen).
However, the xb360 is better for leveling the playing field for those who's PC can't run BFME2 efficiently. xb360's are also less glitchy in general. PC's can have issues that effect your game.
@dontmesswitdasaints PC DEFINITELY. PC is much easier to navigate around the map and have more actions per minute. There are also more online player for PC than XBOX.
screw lorien (prob not spelled right) archers 3 mirkwood archer units with silver thorn arrows can rip apart a whole army with a good hero to give em that leader ship bonus
Mordor has some strengths, like Nazgul, Attack Trolls, and the Mouth of Sauron etc.. But their weaknesses a pretty crippling. They have no Cavalry, their early units are crap, they can't build walls (or wall attachments), and they take more structures to build and upgrade all of their units than any other army (6 in total, compared to the Dwarves 3).
Then again, I'm sure a good player can use Mordor efficiently.
I sent the game back to get the activation code but when it returned the first disc wouldnt work. only got to 1% load and then said that that one file about movies didnt work. Any help or can someone send me the first disc? Ill just mail it back when its loaded because i still have my own first disc.
I while back I posted a question on a 3 videos (Dwarf, Elf, Goblin Strategy) and asked youtubers to rank the Armies of BFMEII. I had some time to kill the other day, so I tallied all of the results from each page. 21 people responded, Here is the average rank each army was given:
1. Isengard = 3.05
2. Men = 3.00
3. Elves = 2.48
4. Dwarves = 2.43
5. Goblins = 2.24
6. Mordor = 1.81
1st = 5 points, 2nd = 4 points . . . . 6th = 0 points. I added up the points for each army and divided by 21.

The idea is playing with other.
I played many times with the computer, and the hurry way to win was the goblins.
Throwing goblins and blocking his unit production, when I was ready, I create a giant and blow up the base.

...Elves are great for defense at Helm's Deep. I set 3 AI's at the highest difficulty against me and I won because I used archers on the walls.

...it was pretty much the same as playing 1 on 1 against an easy in a straight forward map...

glorfindel, elrond, haldir, arwen, thranduil, legolas. arwen is mediocre, has low hp and the only good thing is heal.

no. gloorfindel and elrond and haldir can (as a trio) take down any fort cause of blade of purity, elrond's restoration which is heal AND recharge all special abilities, and haldir just has good melee. then after elrond heals/recharges everyone, glorfindel using blade of purity AGAIN. = fort down.

no...the 4 frontal heroes have swords and can take down structures much faster than legolas or thranduil. thranduil is good for garbage like custom helms deep maps or w/e. rank 7 elrond and rank 8 arwen and rank 3 glorfindel pretty much ensure a win. glorfindel blade of purity, all 3 of them + haldir attack the fort, low hp, arwen's heal, low hp again, elrond's restoration, use blade of purity AGAIN, and then arwen's heal AGAIN, and guaranteed win. use your brain...

@Favre4Eva4 not exactly. You are not giving enough credit to thranduil and legolas who are FAR superior to arwen. They just cost a lot but with proper micro you can pick off a rediculous # of enemy troops with them. Legolas has held of entire armies before. I was once mordor in a ffa on buckland and legolas and thranduil were able to hold off all 3 nazgul which is something that 2 arwens wouldn't have a chance of doing.

yeah, and when it comes to taking down a base, you gonna use thranduil and legolas? don't think so. get arwen at rank 8, elrond at 7, glorfindel at w/e, and haldir at w/e, and any base is down in minutes, army attacking you or not.
that's what flood would be for anyways.

@Favre4Eva4 nay I have a different way of playing. Once you have thranduil/legolas at a high level then they can hold off practically any army. Then what you do is gain map control and build malorn trees everywhere. You go for upgrades instead of heroes. Once you get upgraded swords and maybe armor then you move out with lorien warriors and lancers. I'm not bashing elrond/glorfindel but I think that my way works very well too.

@Favre4Eva4 glorfindel has the lowest armor of all elven heroes, dying even faster than arwen under direct fire. learn these thingsssssssssssssssssssss. and its important to know that while in mythology, elves are greater than men, but in this game their str > men, their defense < men.

ik this was 3 months ago, but the elves SUCKED in the Elder Days. they just flat out SUCKED BALLS. read the Children of Hurin, the Silmarillion, and Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle Earth...elves suck dick in every one.

Yes? But all the battles were fought by elves... Dwarfs didn´t appeared too much. Men were too weak, too "young" in the world. And in the Silmarillion, Elves were too powerful, always was. The difference, is that in the third age of the middle earth, they were too few compare to men.

in the Silmarillion, they were not too powerful. the Valar just had so much love and affection towards them that they brought them to Valinor to see hte light ot the two trees, not becasue they were too powerful.

@PreTest04 because Arwen dies to quick. she is only strong with surrounded by other heroes. It takes like forever for her to get to level 10. Elves are nos strong people in physical man.

I guess these are the Wood-elves (Sindar?) from Mirkwood, since this game takes place in the north.
The elves have Rivendell and Lothlorien in the south, and Mirkwood and Grey Havens in the north, right?

they are great. you go and take the buildings (fords of isen) and make it seem like your not by not giving them time to look, and then build like 3, send with warriors and lots of archers, they're gonna have troubles recovering

every unit is weak on their own. it is how you combine each unit to make each combination strong.
combinations can varry, especially who your facing against.
I used to know many tactics, which i would have explained, but haven't played in over 3 months cause it broke.

BFME2 is the only game I have ever owned both for a console and the PC.
The PC version is better in most respects, graphics (potential), control layout, and most of the "little" things in the game (on the xb360 it's hard to end figure out what army you are choosing on the selection screen).
However, the xb360 is better for leveling the playing field for those who's PC can't run BFME2 efficiently. xb360's are also less glitchy in general. PC's can have issues that effect your game.

@dontmesswitdasaints PC DEFINITELY. PC is much easier to navigate around the map and have more actions per minute. There are also more online player for PC than XBOX.

Mordor has some strengths, like Nazgul, Attack Trolls, and the Mouth of Sauron etc.. But their weaknesses a pretty crippling. They have no Cavalry, their early units are crap, they can't build walls (or wall attachments), and they take more structures to build and upgrade all of their units than any other army (6 in total, compared to the Dwarves 3).
Then again, I'm sure a good player can use Mordor efficiently.

I sent the game back to get the activation code but when it returned the first disc wouldnt work. only got to 1% load and then said that that one file about movies didnt work. Any help or can someone send me the first disc? Ill just mail it back when its loaded because i still have my own first disc.

I while back I posted a question on a 3 videos (Dwarf, Elf, Goblin Strategy) and asked youtubers to rank the Armies of BFMEII. I had some time to kill the other day, so I tallied all of the results from each page. 21 people responded, Here is the average rank each army was given:
1. Isengard = 3.05
2. Men = 3.00
3. Elves = 2.48
4. Dwarves = 2.43
5. Goblins = 2.24
6. Mordor = 1.81
1st = 5 points, 2nd = 4 points . . . . 6th = 0 points. I added up the points for each army and divided by 21.
