@ DivineTrojan - Different types of shisha may need to be packed slightly differently to get the best smoke. For example unwashed shishas like Tangiers & Nakhla need to be packed a bit more tightly/coarsely than others. Check video tutes :)

And you want to fill the base so that the stem sits about an inch into the water ^_^

No rusting, no leaks.  Ice Chamber is rather useless. It works only in super hot days and it keeps the stem cool, it does nothing to make the smoke cooler though.

The chance of burning the tobacco is much greater if you put coals in the middle. You can take those coals you use, cut into them a little bit with a knife across the middle and break them in two. Those halves fit on the outside of the bowl.

@Miraje: Cover the smoke alarm with a WET towel, there is NO way in hell you can set it off with a soaked towel. Second: If you want to get your coals ready with out a stove, buy yourself a $10 single coil burner from walgreens, gets your coals started fast with no flame.

thanks went to london and picked up a small phunnel bowl and a razan hose (i rele need a washable hose and km hoses piss me off about the non washability) and i also managed to buy a tin of starbuzz..came back to italy and getting some rele good smoke...i rele have to scourge turin for AF but i doubt i ll find it...oh well do u also find tht ice in the base does nothing much?? ps. an interesting fact i tried shiny foil side down and for me it works better up!! must be italian foil thts weird!

That's a KM Aqua Zakey, very rare, and not available anywhere in the states anymore. Your second best bet is the 39" Chiller. Great pipes.

@italian: Ok, you need to put that Nakhla down and start looking into AF/Layalina. Those are very easy to smoke and pack, and usually pack a lot of flavor. You need a phunnel bowl as well!

@italian: I would say 70% comes down to my knowledge and experience, and 30% on the hookah. You CAN get whatever hookah you got to smoke good, just not as great as the KM. Try different packing methods, different heat management [less coals, more coals, move them around often, ect]. What stem are you stuck with right now?

Mesquite coals [which are intended for BBQ work perfectly fine with hookah, as long as they are ready and glowing orange/red inside and out.

Yeah, this is a Zakey. Hard to find today. And Phunnel all the way. Vortex Bowl is a neat idea, but it does not work as effectively as the Phunnel. Good bowl, but it can not be compared to the Phunnel.
