What is this type of bass playing called, wanna get into doing this, I used to the one note stay in the pocket type of playing.....need answers please.
@Kuuuks This is basically just what playing jazz is like, some of the time you'll be playing walking bass lines ome of the time you'll be doing purely improvised bass solos. Altogether a very fun & creative genre to play in. I'd reccommend some of Ed Friedlands books; 'Building walking bass lines', 'expanding walking bass lines' and 'bass improvisation'
@thesoundofwood They updated the series, 2010 models have new 5 piece neck (the only new feature) the prices are about the same they called trb1004 (or 5,6) +J Like this: TRB 1005J - untill now i only found trb1004j and 5j - Thomann(.)de i think they probably making the same for 6 string but not sure
A horn-like quality. This dude is influenced by the great blowers. Love the bebop lines. Just started to check out the Charlie Parker Omnibook for bass myself. I'm struggling, but love it.
it looks like the pick ups are active since i don't see any magnets or whatever, unless those are covers. so , are the pu active or the only active thing is the 3 band EQ pre-amp?
@misanthroposy thats why i also put "unless those are covers" but thanx anyway still had the doubt , the ony passive non magnet showing pickups i know are probably the bartolini and the emg hz p.u. Probably those kent armstrong pickups but who knows.
how i wish i could also play like that. .

@serazac25 Pickups are active and not all passive pickups have the magnets showing.

Sounds like the Yamy pu's. Like a little 'bitey' sometimes. However, in this guys hands any pickups will sound good.
