The remake is trying to be 'small' since the orchestra is very good. if they do a awesomely mega good theme on it all it will not look like a sequel from the good, old 90 starcraft but a new unknow art performation of a unknow game. OMG couldn't they have gotten a better drummer? He/She just whacks pointlessly and makes the whole thing sound more amateurish... Also the breakdown at around 3:00 sounds like the Godfather came to visit Twin Peaks. The part after that reminds me of Gummibears and le grande finale seems to conclude in Hobbiton, like somebody pointed out earlier. I find this bland and utterly awful, completely unfitting the Starcraft realm.

@elkornel on the whole I like it, although I do agree with your criticisms. It's a sign of the times (as Mengsk would say) that every 'epic' soundtrack has to sound at least in part similar to Lord of the Rings. I think they've gone for more of a John Williams 'western in space' theme. The ending does evoke scenes of Raynor strolling off into the sunset holding hands with some girl, the camera then rising into space as a battlecruiser warp jumps off into a twinkly star (cue the end credits).
