I attended this performance. She cast a spell during the Liberame - you could hear a pin drop - it was as if an angel had descended from heaven and sang to us. Will never forget it. I think Caballe is one of the very few sopranos who could sing very lyrically in this piece and yet really ride the big climaxes when she let the full volume of her voice out.
I consider her my inspiration. She's the only singer who can make me cry, by sheer beauty alone.
I pray that somewhere in this world a full version of a performance of her exists in high fidelity which is preserved for all posterity. Currently, there are some great voices out there, but no truly great artists. One can tell that she put her suffering of her early childhood into her music. To rise above a nice sound, good intonation, fine timing and make the piece SPEAK, one must have soul.
God bless her, what a privilege to have the opportunity to hear one of the greatest talents in Singing History!!!!!!!
