I am right this minute listening to DIANE by The Bachelors with TEARS in my eyes even though I am SMILING .......I feel the vibes from these 3 men from the UK....what soul.....soul comes in MANY , MANY shades.....thank you BACHELORS....love from your pal forever....Hollywood Joe
TREMENDOUS without getting LOUD....!...THE BACHELORS....I remember them well....real man with real soul and voices....they remind me of the early Vaudevillian and Broadway era of New York City....when you it either had it or you did'nt have it.....thank you CONLETH...DECLAN and JOHN forever....hail, hail to the BACHELORS....Hollywood Joe
SON-OF-GUN; JUST MADE IT!!! In 1964 "Diane" peaked at No. 10 thus just making the Billboard's Top 10 and it spent a total of 13 weeks in the Top 100...
The record reached No. 1 on the U'K' Record Retailer chart in 1964...
Other artists who have recorded it are Mario Lanza, Sergio Franchi, Jim Reeves, Billy May, Miles Davis, and Vic Damone...
@Ilove60smusic FINALLY! I heard this song on the oldies station a long time ago, but I couldn't catch the title or who sang it. for a year I have done searches trying to figure out what the name of this song is or who sang it. I did a search tonight trying to find words with Diane in it, and FINALLY a search showed this video. what a great song! thanks for posting!
HAD THE HONOUR OF WRITING A SONG USED AS "B"SIDE ON SEVERAL OF THEIR RECORDS (ENGLAND,U.S.,CANADA) "SWEET LULLABIES ' A NICE LITTLE COUNTRY SONG -THE GUYS DID ME PROUD..................THANX FOREVER FOR YOUR TALENT.......AL RAIN
I'm a huge fan of Con&Dec. Love all their song espically Diane and Marie.Their vocals are totally unique. If I had been their agent they would still be a headline act in Las Vegas. Where every they are and what ever they are doing at the present I wish them health, wealth and happiness. "Dona Nobis Pacem:
I loved this song when it came out and still today, When this song was a hit on the radio my girlfirend 's name was Diane, You never forget you first love.
In all actuality...these songs by the Batchelors are NOT simple. The orchestration and harmony that was worked into all their songs was simple GENIUS. This song and MARIE are probably two on my favorites.
Its a real shame that we cant have this music on radios yet. Tell me that after listening to this rendition or MARIE, that you didnt feel like dancing. wonderful stuff.
These Guys can really sing. I wish mainstream Raido in Los Angeles California would play them You should not have to buy a HD Radio to hear music like this.
It dawned as epiphany this song, written in 1928, is actually a hymn to the Moon. Diana was ancient Roman goddess of the Moon. Consider prayerful lyrics with idea of heavenly luminous Moon lighting the road & visible from every perspective. It fits!
"I'm in heaven when I see you smile/Smile for me, my Diane/And though everything's dark all the while I can see you, Diane.
You have lighted the road leading home/Pray for me when you can/But no matter wherever I roam/Smile for me, my Diane"
Excellent audio - well done!! Proud of these fellas - from Ireland like myself !! I grew up listening to them from my father - anyway pure 60s and takes me back. Thanks :-)

An easy listening song with a great harmony from a time when things were simple and appreciated.
The 1960's were the years of my childhood. It seems like only yesterday except my waistline tells me differently.
I love the digital age, but reserve a place in my heart for the innocence of yesteryear.
