Please Don't Put Me Down For This....I currently own a 2007 Ford F-150 XLT 5.4L V8 4WD Truck. I have not had one successful burnout, what am I doing wrong? I can get the rear wheels to spin momentairly but then they stop. Im doing it in normal D mode (not first or second gear). What am I doing wrong? I'm also having the same problem with a 2010 Mustang GT. Same Issue, what am I doing worng??????

@fordlover22 I've seen some guys let the car launch just a bit (1-2 yards) so the rear brakes aren't "set". Then the front-wheel brake bias takes over because the rear brakes have freed up a bit.

@fordlover22 I would say your traction control option is on. Now I don't even know if your vehicles have that option but my Lincoln does so the wheel spin is only momentarily. It shouldn't be that difficult to shut off but you can always refer to the manual.

to all you idiots that said it should have done a burnout on the first try. two things you should know. one. traction control. two. when a burn out is attempted in Drive on an automatic transmission with a truck that powerful, it's usually set to start off in 2nd gear. the transmission had to adjust to 1st gear to do the burnout.

More like 367 hp and 375 tq. Look at the power at wheels though, 312 hp and 313 tq. Ford has 300 rwtq. My ford 5.4 is putting down 340 rwtq. The chevy 5.3 only makes 271 rwtq. Heavy trucks need more low rpm tq to move, unlike light cars that want top end hp. Ha, and the tundra only puts down 304 rwtq. Thats why it has to have 4.10+ gears and a very short first gear just to get moving.
