To any white child growing up, this series and movie scared the HELL out of you. I don't know why, but it did on some level.

Look at the three races of apes:

The orangutangs: Light-skinned with blue eyes. Aka the high-yellow black people that today can almost pass for white.

Then the chimpanzees: Mid race, aka the mulattooes (half black and half white person).

Last was the gorillas: The pure black apes who were so stupid that all they can do is carry a rifle. The grunts. Aka the pure black man.

That'd scare the crap out of any white kid.
