Hey man long tme no video post, its been quite hectic around here for weather and work both. I work three jobs so my gardening has been kinda on hold, a good thing though. Two weeks ago 8 inches of snow( ha ha people here in nc panic at the sight of it!) last week it was 85F and not humid with a gentle breeze, currently it is 36F with heavy rain and a few ice pellets every so often. Was going to burn off my garden but something told me to wait. good thing i did. How have things been for you?
Let your grass clumps dry & beat them again with tiller. Sometimes it takes 3 goes. This way the clumps give up nutrients. Don't tamp until you put seed down or step around sets. You have no idea how spoiled you are. We just had 42 below 0 C night before last! Far. & Cel. are same at -40. The green poison has no bearing on seed potatoe but refers to ones you plan on eating. It is neutralized by cooking well. Also there is no need to soak seed spud though it won't hurt any. Good luck.
thx! ya i'm ready to be spoiled! this has been the coldest winter in like 11-12 yrs. we were in the -20's & 40's, but just for a few weeks. i should be puttin the taters in the ground tomorrow
We never plant (seed) before June 1st as experience has taught us it always snows May long weekend. It was a tough winter across North America & sounds like you got a taste to. Alberta though is something else lol. I still have 4 ft snow drifts. Seems our cold snap is breaking though & we had +6 C today. Felt like Bahamas after -42. I'm trying some more diversity this season I am excited to try some medium hot banana peppers. Remember most 90 day or less plants do best direct sown okay.
First welcome back! Second glad to see you out getting prepared for a new season of gardening. That compost pile you had should make for some very fertile soil and a good harvest to come.
hell ya..that of course was the plan. i told a neighbor i would hook him up with some, but i kinda used it all..lol. i saved a trashbag s worth for covering up the potatoes as they grow
haha, luckily none here right now, not much rain, its been sorta warm 60's the past week. i wanted to gett started while we werent gettin rain. it woulda been really wet. & hard to breakup
