I was truly and deeply sadden when John Edwards announced his stepping aside in the presidential campaign. I feel once again, we now have lost our voice, our champion, and our humanitarian president. Edwards in my opinion would make a fine president and would work to fix several problems. But I must say that it is almost unfair for him to be pit against those that are making history. Ron Paul recommends a flat tax which would tax the poor's income the same as the rich. That is rising the distribution of taxes against the poor. Policies that give more money to the poor are more beneficial as the first thing they do is spend it at local stores creating circulation of capital. Policies that benefit the rich creates investment that goes right back to the rich. Poor people do not benefit from capital gains.
I support the Fair Tax....not flat tax. No one can hide from paying anymore...nor cheat. The poor buy less - they pay less. The wealthy buy more - they pay more. The reason the dems do not support this is because it no longer gives them the power over YOUR money.

Depends how you measure a nation. Yes wallstreet is strong and our military is top notch. If you were really concerned with the welfare of our people you would realize that our liberties have been taken away (and yes, I'm at a lot of policies regarding these) and by all egalitarian measures we are weaker since Nixon and Ford ended New Deal policies (and Paul was ecstatic).

The Dems (Of whom I am not necessarily one) strongly wished to revisit the minimum tax, despite the fact that the Right wanted to ram it through without accounting for it budgetarily. Some "conservatives"! Of course $97,000 per year isn't rich. It was perfectly justifiable in the '70's when the AMT was enacted.

Ron Paul recommends a flat tax which would tax the poor's income the same as the rich. That is rising the distribution of taxes against the poor. Policies that give more money to the poor are more beneficial as the first thing they do is spend it at local stores creating circulation of capital. Policies that benefit the rich creates investment that goes right back to the rich. Poor people do not benefit from capital gains.

Recently, in a large city here in the U.S., a test was taken for Captain. While the white person scored the highest out of 200 ppl., the 2nd place person was given 10 extra points on the test, and was then considered "1st"....just because he was black. One in four homeless people *claims* to be a vet. Doesn't make it so. When social workers and others do their homeless census (very good work and I applaud them), they ask the homeless person their status. There is no fact checking.
When someone like Mr. Edwards parrots that statistic, it adds to the myth of homeless vets. I am not saying that vets don't end up being homeless. They do. I am saying that the percentages are not as high as some think.

wilburjr: Also, as far as the Red States, most of those that I named have not voted Democrat since 1976...Jimmy Carter. I think the difference now are moral issues that would make it difficult for a dem to win a red state.

Actually, according to Public Policy Polling, John Edwards would win North Carolina easily against any of the Republicans, and Clinton and Obama "DON'T." Two polls over the course of this year have shown Edwards defeating all Republicans in NC, and his lead has increased over the GOP in the state. On top of that, he would have won re-election in 2004, according to Fox News' pre-election polls, and his approval rating in July 2004 was over 50%. So, apparently ytdsmom is a clueless idiot.

Both Hillary and Obama are corporatists and Republican-lite. John Edwards is the only candidate that represents REAL change. John John Edwards will get us out of Iraq, will give the country back to the people, and make sure that FEMA and our other government agencies work effectively for the people of this country.

MasterOfSparks, you are correct. I like what Ron Paul has to say about the Iraq War, but other than that what does he really have to offer America? Nothing! Ron Paul wants to get rid of FEMA, FDA, and Social Security - which makes no sense. Where are you going to turn when a natural disaster strikes, who will oversee the safety of our food, how will our seniors survive? Paul has no answers for these questions.

Ron Paul may be the best the GOP has to offer but he's really a Libertarian. Libertarians are anarchists. Don't you people understand that if you weaken the government the multinational corporations are going to move to fill that power vacuum? Did you think they would just go away? Aren't there enough lead painted toys on the shelf as it is? We don't need a weaker government. We need a more effective one. One that will put people ahead of the corporations.
