@GOWfanatics A regular crocodile's jaws have thousands of pounds of pressure, and since Utan is so big, he could easily kill you if he wanted. I'm sure he could even kill someone with his massive tail.
xD i wish i could come at the feedin time everytime i go hes asleep and hidden well so you really dont see him n at feedin time its so crowded you barly get in
@crazyben108 He's kept in a pretty big enclosure at Alligator Adventure in Myrtle Beach, SC. He's about 21 feet long, and they say he's the biggest (weight wise) croc in the world. I think one may be longer somewhere else but just not as fat. Because he's so big he doesnt move much unless hes being fed, so he doesnt need a whole lot of space.
@curryman25 Nah, they get heavier than 2000 lbs, Gustave (in Africa) is estimated to be at least 3,000 and perhaps as much as 25 feet and 2 tons. He's known to have killed many people and at least one hippo (making him the only nile croc known to have taken a grown hippo, and the only one that hippos are afraid of). Salties (Saltwater crocs) also pretty routinely reach around a ton in weight- and I know of at least one or two other 21 footers:P
@sonbuhitsunei lol gustave is nowhere near 3000lb nor 25 feet, let alone 2 tons LOL- barr weighed a american croc in rica that was 16 feet and 1500lbs(american croc), which would put gustave of course < 2300lbsish- gustave is a legit 20fter, which is completely rare for nile crocs- if u know gael (the gustave man estimates 20ft, but no bigger)-salties get way bigger and gustave in no way shape or form took a full grown hippo(unless the hippo was injured or dying)-
@TimelessEndless He has a medium size pool and a good amount of room to "exercise". Should he decide he wants to expend energy, he has more than enough room to. Exercising, however, is a human term for something wild animals do themselves. Animals, specifically reptiles as large as this guy, don't want to use energy unless they are getting benefit from it. Because he is fed and does not have to hunt, he does not move around much. to him, "exercising" is a waste of energy. good question!!
You are right, by "exercise" I simply meant if he has enough space to do some crocodile activity. He looks so spoiled doesn't he? Hehe, well if he has enough room to move around then it's cool. How old is he? Would love to see how much bigger he can get. Has he been around since a baby?
@TimelessEndless I havent been able to find a reliable answer on his exact age, but crocs can live anywhere between 25 years (wild) and 100 years (generally only when captive). I would guess that Utan is around 65, but he could be older. He was brought to Alligator Adventure in S.C. about ten years ago from Thailand. Because he was imported, it's tough for them to know his age. and yeah, he's one spoiled croc!
If ya'll come back...let us know. Myrtle Beach is 100 miles from us... but we would love to meet you there and enjoy the day! Thanks for sharing this video! Utan is awesome!
Utan is most certainly the king of the crocs! Seeing him here is one thing...but seeing him up close in person is unbelievable! Roark Ferguson trained Utan at Alligator Adventure in Myrtle Beach. Roark was previously director at Alligator Adventure and it is a great place to go and see hundreds of alligators and crocs and other magnificient creatures! Roark is amazing and has taught Cameron so much! Roark just came to our school for Steve Irwin Day...1300 students had the time of their life!
Is he bigger than Cassius and Lolong?
