Its not that simple, generally it sounds better in the studio because they take several takes, and layer the vocals. But yeah, Chad sounds almost the same, which is awesome because they layer their vocals in the studio SO MUCH! :D

and you can really change effect while playin guitar so you have foot pedals thats you can press with your feet while still playin

They are used for effects mate. They are like wammy pedals/bars stuff like that. You can get different sounds from the guitar using them.

Its just an Eq-ing trick.

Remove the mids and low frequency on the mix of your voice (or the voice amp you're using) and you'll get something similar.
