@MERJOATLOR- uhhh, ok. It does orbit the sun. It does not move in a flat orbit though. I would like to know what you theory of planetary movement is andwhere we get the seasons and 265 days a year if it does not orbit the sun.
I live in Australia, the coldest we ever get is like 17 degrees celsius! But at the moment its not hot though its summer, but its starting to heat up with a few 35/40 degree celsius days.
@AllDaySCIfi Actually, the gyroscopic action is not necessary to keep the axis pointed in the same direction during Earth's revolutions. Even with no spinning that axis would not move. (Of course, with no spin it wouldn't really be an axis.) The spin just happens to be the angular momentum that is in place on the Earth. There is no force that would pull the axis any other direction, so the gyroscopic action has no force to resist.
I had a car without AC for two years in my early twenties and I did get somewhat used to it. I was amazed when I finally got the AC fixed how quickly I became a total wimp to the heat. As I mentioned, the first cold front of the season just came through and it is 55 degrees outside right now, was 90 yesterday. Texas set all kinds of heat records this year, we deserve it : ).
@Krautattack0311 Summer will be over soon, I live in Houston so I can relate. Winter here is Canada vs the Gulf of Mexico. First cold front of the season coming tomorrow for us. Hope you get some relief.
If the orbit is 5 miles farther away during the winter in the southern hemisphere, does it get just a bit colder down there? Is there anybody out there?
a year does not equal 365 it equals 365.25
(or some like da)

No mention of the gyroscopic action which causes the axis to point in the same direction as the Earth orbits the Sun.
