I used to work for Intamin (the company which manufactured the ride) as a mechanical engineer. All of the Accelerator range of coasters are designed to be able to cope with a rollback, for it the train does not crest the hill then if it is not stopped it will rollback into the train behind it. That is why the brakes are released straight behind the train. A rollback is safe, a misfire is much more interesting (this is when the train could go at anytime).

@justinbiebergurl987 They get another go.Being in a rollback essentially gives riders a ride and a half.The train will be launched again after the rollback.But first they will be brought back to the station to give them the option of getting off the ride.

It rolls back for safety reasons doesn't it? Otherwise they would all be stuck there and they'd have to get the massive crane out :D I've been on that ride and every time it still makes me nervous!

@lloydy1510 You are right, in that it's not supposed to do it normally, however, and this is what many people get confused at, while it doesn't NORMALLY do that, it IS designed to do that. If that makes sense. As in, it's not normal, but when it DOES happen, it's supposed to be ABLE to. Makes sense, right?

It's as if on that particular day Stealth was intending to rollback deliberately! I mean that was 2010 I thought rollbacks were history on that ride & only occasional! Also that ride attendant had a good sense of humor saying that when he takes his brake he'd try & ride it as well & see if he gets a rollback!

Just watched this, and saw myself and my daughter lol. We were right at the front of the queue ( I have stripey jumper and long blonde hair in ponytail ), for the front of stealth, next to go on, when it did that roll back!!!! The queue got evacuated afterwards, so we were gutted. Also, always wanted to be on a roll back!!! Great video!

It's not really the weathers fault, mainly the fact that the nitrogen isnt injecting fast enough and it looses pressure on launch and not getting to 80 MPH quick enough!

@100strikeout haha mate theres no nitrogen, it simply uses a plane puller which is hooked onto the track. its different everytime due to the weight.

@ThorpePark01 Haha 'mate' actually there is nitrogen! It is the compressed nitrogen that compresses the hydraulic fluid, which then turns a winch drum with the cable attached. Do some research before you laugh at others.

@ThorpePark01 It's all hydraulically driven, no? Kinda like a super soaker. Pressure builds up in canisters, then when it's time to launch, they inject it down lines into the hydraulic motor which then spins a giant drum which then pulls the cable down the track, no?

@ThorpePark01 No really, I know the park pretty much inside and out and can safely say the cable car AKA winch is pulled along the launch track which is indeed used on plane launches. Intamin use one which uses hydraulics which use hydrogen and nitrogen, the nitrogen is injected quickly into the hydrogen which turns a big drum which pulls the winch and the train, the train itself weighs 11 tonnes so the odd couple of stone wouldnt make a difference in the slightest. Its nitrogen which does it.

Hi, cant believe it is having rollback problems again!! So wanted to take my friemd on it this weekend!! The guy in the console was Nathan, he is the one to blame for this disaster lolXD
