Amazing this album isn't considered more of a classic. I guess with all it's commercial success it gets pinned in with a lot of pop stuff from the 80's but it's one of the best things to have happened that decade.
Never knew there was a video to this, ol poor girl didnt have cable and mtv.lol I love it !!!and you tube :) oh yea ... me and my sis put our money together and bought this album . I think only because of the unique cover. but I know every word to every song to this day! thanks for sharing!
I use to dance to this song back in 1986. Always felt they sang this song just for me. "all her friends did her favors that were really just loan's and she never had dreams so they never came true. " I always only wore boots. I was kickin that habit. I just love this song Thanks for the post
i heard this song 4 the first time cuz my mom wanted me to burn her the freeze frame album and wtf is this stupid shit the i heard this song and im like :DDDDDDD
Women such as Mata Hari and Marilyn Monroe not only had dreams, but they came true. You have to really dislike someone to ignore who they are as a person, and believe only tabloids without verification. Mata Hari had been celebrated, but her tragedy was the way the tabloids could bring her down, and that the very thing the public wanted could became her undoing. This could never happen to Marilyn. She will never fade away.
Such a great tune. Reminds me of when radio actually played a variety of great music rather than pinned to a certain station of a genre where only the hits make the playlist as it is now. Thanks a ton for sharing.
its too bad they dont play this on the radio,I LOVE THIS SONG, I remember when it came out, I also like Rage in the Cage off the Freeze Frame album, was the B side too Centerfold
It's so sad this band disbanded because tensions were to a boiling point between Peter Wolf and Seth Justman. And, it happened as they were in the studio working on the album that was to follow Freeze Frame...... I can only imagine how great the next album would have been. What a waste..........
It took me forever to remember the name of this song and I was pleasantly surprised I found it on youtube......... JGB rocked the 80's. One of the few bands I would listen to in the 80's.......... Peter Wolf and company are absolutely genious.....
Melancholy rising Fading out of tune But striking a chord just the same To a heralded time Lost in pastel watercolored tears of time Painted in the ether A nowhere land That we visit in our minds To hold even closer What we held dear...now even more Never letting go...thanks to a friend
@zowach why thank you, always nice to get a kudo. With J Geils as the inspiration of course...a song like this is like a well preserved bottle of wine, enough said!
WOW, this was a great song , and ya from 1982. This song reminds me of the good fortune I had as I was able to get a few date's with this thin, short good looking busty blond who was living in my town for a brief time. Than she moved on to the big city. Glad to have had met you Deb!
Thanks for this song, idlertire, you are a genius!! One of my favorite jgb songs....hard to choose one, though. Is it me or does that sax look rather tiny to the sax player in all their videos? lol!
I forgot I had this video and ran up on it one day.I noticed the video was not on Youtube anywhere....so here it is....You're welcome...that goes for all of you that posted.
@LenMan619 , cheers for bringing back some memories. J Geils were the first band I ever saw live.
Never really noticed how sad a song it was back then. ''She never had dreams, so they never came true''. Guess we've all come across a few angels in blue in the intervening years.
Memories of NW New Brunswick: Western Maine. Listening to 'then' superb FM station: WDHP 96.9.
They played all this cool stuff.
Northern Maine's WDHP broadcasted into Quebec as well; I remember them receiving phone calls from there; as well as northwestern New Brunswick, Canada.
it's not so often that I come across bands like this nowadays... one has to try hard looking for bands that play songs similar to the "angel in blue." Listening to it, one finds how undying this kind of repertoire is.

This song deserved to be as big a hit as "Centerfold" and "Freeze-Frame". For a J. Geils song, it's oddly sad and beautiful. A true classic.
