Not much wrong here. I had: Norway: #11 - 2min Slash #29 - 2min Slash + 2min Roughing after the whistle #8 - 5min Fighting + Game misc. #10 - 5min Fighting + 2min Aggressor + Game misc. #2 - 2min Roughing after the whistle St. Malo: #22 - 2min Roughing #26 - 5min Fighting + Game misc. #14 - 5min Fighting + Game misc #18 - 2min Roughing after the whistle St Malo gets a 2 min 5 on 3 then another 2 min of 5 on 4 hockey.
refs made the right calls except the goalie should'av gotten a penalty for slashing as well. but the refs had their hands full with the other players i guess.
This is my penalty : North Way : No. 11 get a minor for slashing, no. 29 get a minor for slashing and a minor for roughing, no. 10 get minor for roughing, major for fighting and a minor for agressor, no. 2 get minor for slashing and no.8 a major for fighting. St-Malo : No. 18 minor for slashing and no. 26 major for fighting. If you have any questions, please reply me.
Everyone who threw punches gets a GM for fighting, first player on green to throw punch gets an extra GM for instigator, Goalie should get a GM for slashing and GM for fight. The players who were fighting in the bottom left should get additional GMs for 3rd man in
@vancouv completely agree. they missed the second slashing call from the goalie. green definitely instigated every aspect of this scrum. rest are gone for fighting and the 1 instigator.
the ref made the right calls under the circumstances, white got a pp cuz green started alll the shit in the first place. Green goalie should have had a match penalty for a blocker to the head
All the penalties seam to be ssued fine, personally as a ref myself, i would give the first 2 players that were going at it 10 minutes for fighting, and everyone else 3rd man in, (minimum of 3 games)
I did, maybe you are from a different league... And which rule book have you read, I read the hockey canada and I would only have given the goalie and i forget the other number a suspension for third man in.
the problem is we can rewind and look at what happened more than once; i can understand the refs not seeing all the little things that happend like the goalie's slash.
I definitely would have called a few roughings, fightings, and a 10-minute misconduct to whoever continued to fight after the ref tried to get them to stop...
WHITE 18- 2 min rough, 5 minutes for fighting 12- 2 mins rough 26- 5 min for fighting 14- 5 mins for fighting GREEN 11-5 min for slashing 8-5 min for fighting 10- 5 min for fighting 2 -5 min for fighting Goalie- 2 & 10 for slash, game misc for intent to injure
GREEN 11 - 2 min minor-SLASH 29- 5, GM-SLASHING 8- 5 Fighting GM MISC. 10 Minute Misc. 3rd man in 10- 5, GM MISC - Fighting 14- 5, GM MISC - Fighting WHITE 18- 2 min minor - Rough After Whistle 12- 2 min minor - Rough After Whistle 14- 5, GM MISC - Fighting 26- 5, GM MISC - Fighting 10 MIN MISC - 3rd Man In
GREEN 11 - 2 min minor-SLASH 29- 5, GM-SLASHING 8- 5 Fighting GM MISC. 10 Minute Misc. 3rd man in 10- 5, GM MISC - Fighting 14- 5, GM MISC - Fighting WHITE 18- 2 min minor - Rough After Whistle 12- 2 min minor - Rough After Whistle 14- 5, GM MISC - Fighting 26- 5, GM MISC - Fighting 10 MIN MISC - 3rd Man In
green was the clear aggressor. Goal stands(obliously) however the goalie should have got a game misconduct for the slash. that it was a clear attempt to injure. and all the other penatlies were fine. If there were to be more handed out i would have to say it would be given to green as they instigated all 3 of the fights
Not sure what the poster is trying to prove...maybe trying to prove penalties were excessive??? There's no mention of the rules in which this game was played (Juniors, USA Hockey, Pro, etc.), which adds to confusion. In USAH game, 3rd player in an altercation gets a game misconduct, plus major for fighting which carries another automatic game misconduct...that would count for several of the 20 minute misconducts. Give the ref. some credit, he seemed to get it mostly right.
@ 2:30ish in the video theres contact @ the top of the scread and behind the play. my guess is the idea is a minor to white for interference which would have stopped play right there. if you follow the same kid in white, he's the one who gets in the first shove right after the goal.
Here is what I would do. (USA Hockey Rules) Green: 11 - 2 Min. Minor Roughing 29 - 5 Min Maj. Slashing Match Penalty Attempt to Injure 8 - 5 Min Maj. Fighting Game Misconduct 10 - 5 Min. Maj Fighting Game Misconduct 2 - 2 Min Unsportsmanlike No Goal
Interference on #14 White would have caused the whistle to blow right away, thus ending the play. (since the white team had possession of the puck.) Rule 621(a)
It reads "A minor penalty shall be assessed on a player who who interferes with or impedes the progress of an opponent who is not in possession of the puck....", thus it is a penalty.
Here is what I would do. (USA Hockey Rules) White: 18 - 2 Min Minor Roughing 18 - 5 Min Maj. Fighting Game Misconduct 12 - 5 Min Maj. Fighting Game Misconduct 26 - 5 Min Maj. Fighting Game Misconduct 14 - 2 Min Minor - Interference 5 Min Maj. Fighting Game Misconduct
first off the slash started the fight and everyone seemed to think goalie slash was ok WTF it the biggest stick heres my run down green penalties: 11 2 slashing 29 2 slashing+2 roughing ?? player engaging white #18 2 roughing 8 5 fighting +game misconduct 10 5 fighting white penalties 18 2 roughing 26 2 roughing 5 fighting game misconduct 14 5 fighting game misconduct after math >>> green short 1 man 4 min Canadian amature rules.. PS cant call double minors for roughing
Just a sign of the times. These penalties are too severe even for a woman's league or a mite league. The new era of hockey (thanks Bettman) and all the ridiculous rules have refs throwing out game misconducts and in this case double game misconducts like they're candy. 12 white roughing (minor) for the retaliation
26 white fighting and game
8 green fighting and game
10 green fighting and game and instigator (he took a run at 14)
14 white fighting and game

Initial shit to start it was green after the goal...he was correct in putting them down
white retaliation by talking...neah no penalty
white retaliation to goalie talking by pushing him...ok good minor
goalie retaliation...yeah i can see a rough there
the 4 guys on screen in corner for fighting each yep
I personally like the refs calls here, green started it and green went down the man

continuted:
#18 White - Major Fighting plus Game Misconduct
#26 White - Major Fighting plus Game Misconduct
#14 White - Major Fighting plus Game Misconduct
in the end...green would be down 5 on 3 with a stacked penalty. (3 minors)
Fightings cancel and green has two extra game misconducts.
Generals1107 2 years ago
As a 8 yr. veteran of USA hockey officiating, I would have called:
#11 Green - Minor Slashing
#29 Green (Goalie) - Minor Slashing
#29 Green (Goalie) - Minor Roughing
#29 Green (Goalie) - Major Fighting plus Game Misconduct
#29 Green (Goalie) - Separate Game Misconduct
#8 Green - Major Fighting plus Game Misconduct
#10 Green - Major Fighting plus Game Misconduct
#10 Green - Separate Game Misconduct
#2 Green - Major Fighting plus Game Misconduct

They missed the goalie slashing the guy. Otherwise everything seemed to be in order, assuming fighting is automatic game misconduct.

The goaltender got roughing??? More like 5 for slashing, Game Misconduct.
gretzkysyotes 3 years ago
Agree. I would have given a game misconduct to the goalie. He is the one responsible for the escalation of the brawl.
From the first time I watched, I would have given :
White : 3 penalties for fighting (+ misconduct)
Green : 3 penaltioes for fighting (+ misconduct), 1 for slashing and 1 roughing & game misconduct to the goalie
So 3 penalties for the white, and 5 for the green. Not sure who was the 4th white who got booked here.

I reffed hockey for 5 yrs ('81-85) & had a number of games that had brawls. This is very tame and the penalties I would have handed out:
29-Gr: double minor (slash, rough)
8-Gr: major (fighting)
10-Gr: major-misconduct (fighting)
12-Wh: minor (rough)
14-Wh: major (fighting)
26-Wh: major (fighting)
You could also have given 11-Green and 18-White minor penalties for the beginning but I wouldn't have bothered.
Major penalties offset. Two minute power-play to White team. Whistle.
