My dad is an OB/GYN and during his residency he often had to work about 130 hours per week, which is just insane. Now, regulations prevent residents from working more than 80 hours a week, and prevent them from becoming so tired that they make clumsy mistakes which could lead to malpractice. While these rules prevent stupid mistakes, they also mean that now residents are not as well trained. Either way, training to be a doctor is extremely demanding.
