Latest Flex sales data is very sad:

If you take away the 5000 units needed to put just one of these cars on a ford lot, it yields true sales of only 4000 units nationwide! Each dealer only sold 1/2 of a Flex in the entire month!) GULP!

What happened to the target of annualized sales of 100K units (8.3K/mon. or close to 2 units sold per dealer/mon.) No wonder Ford shit-canned the Chief Design Engineer Gresens two months ago...Can you say Edsel? hahaha

Okay, so why cry for Kirk Kerkorian's loss of (ultimately) $700M since he invested in Ford last Spring. He was only buying Ford to leverage himself into an already dire cash flow situation at Ford, so I say he got what he deserved. At 91 years old, at least he doesn't have to worry about how it will affect his nest egg...F stock will hit $1.50 in the next 2 weeks, as Kirk unwinds his position. P.S. In case you haven't been following the market, the world DOES revolve around the US. I think it's comical that while the rest of the world gnashes their teeth at the US, they all rely on our strong financial markets to invest their money in. Even more so, that US investors themselves rely. Which is why, the US mortgage crisis is more negatively affecting all of the other world financial markets, than it is our own.

What a difference 2 days makes. Ford Stock at $2.08 today. YOU could buy controlling interest in Ford for a shade over $2.1B right now. Now, with Ford in line to get 33% of 25B (AT LEAST..Watch as they ask for more next week!!!), a shrewd auto maker like der volks doktor(VW) could really make a killing. No limit on how or where that bailout low interest money is spent...see my point? Don't buy this boat until it has a VW logo on the front...that means 2010!

FMC below 3.25 today. IF 25% of Fords dealers are going to be gone by next year, who in their right mind would buy a Ford today? Ford's historical strength was that their small rural dealers (Dealer Select) could support the masses. Those dealers are dropping like flies... Ford corp only sees average sales, and somehow believes all of those lost sales that came from the Select dealers will miraculously shift to the remaining dealers. Very flawed logic. Why'd Bill Ford Jr. sell 20% of his stock?

I've owned an Xb since 2004, and the car is a very well thought out means of reliable and economic (35 mpg) means of transportation. I wager that my Xb has MORE leg room in it's second row (no third row on the Xb, of course) seats than the Flex's. And the XB is less than half the price of the Flex. Add to that, you could drive both of the Xb wagons around, following the Flex, and still use less gas! The Flex gets 17 mpg in city driving. who builds a gas guzzler in today's $4 a gal reality!...

I love how you have all the attributes laid out on a product that hasn't come off the line yet. You certainly aren't talking about existing Fords. Design is personal, so I can't comment on how you feel about this design. But, if you look at the real numbers you are incorrect on all but re-sale value and most of that is based on perception many years old. When the buying public figures it out, and they are, the resale numbers will change. Look at the quality and reliability, and FnF numbers.

No thats not what I was trying to say. I was simply stating that this will be noticed and admired by most of the car world as a fun car to play with. The XB's are shitty but everyone knows what they are because they are at all the custom car shows. They are hard to miss visualy. Im a ford guy till I die . No kidding, My wife is ready to trade her explorer and when she saw the Flex she said, "When can you order one?" No V-8 offered yet but we have a 4.6 V8 now and we'd kinda like a little better mpg. I actually sell Ford's so I'm hoping I can have one of the first ones.
