A connection between them is that The Spotnicks were Swedish and Peggy Lee was of Swedish-Norwegian descent. Her version can also be seen here; just type "Peggy Lee - Johnny Guitar 1954s" in SEARCH.
Yes and these guys where there equals but coming from a small country ... So the did not shine due to restrictions in the UK that was broken first after that ABBA made the scene . What a pity...
The band is from Gothenburg Sweden and the story tells that the guitarsound are recording inside a washingroom or something like that. With the cheramic on the wall they got that sound.
