  • Actually, I liked the music for this game, especially stage 2. However, what drove me nuts was the voice acting and the constant radio chatter. I get it that that's the way Silpheed is, but if they'rejust going to mumble their dialogue without subtitles, then they need to shut up!

  • The narrator's voice sounds like the voice of Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (the original PS1 version, not the re-dubbed version on PSP).

    And guess what? It's him!

    Robert Belgrade.

  • How to take down energy field surrounding a planet or moon:

    1) steal a shuttlecraft from the enemy

    2) land on the planet

    3) be friend of a bunch of children in furry outfits

    4) go after the shield generator with rocks, stones, a couple of sticks with rocks (actually attached to them)

  • I love the guy in the intro that's like "Holy Shiiiiiiiiiii-" BOOM!!!

  • you have such a one toned voice... i cant tell when you are joking or if your serious... couldn't you put a bit more character into your reviews?

  • @Roxas0987654321 Actually there is much variation in his voice. If you want extreme variation, check out his reviews from 2010-2011, Mark sounds like he had 6 cups of coffee before doing the reviews. It should suit you well. I personally think he sounds too commercial or too much like other reviewers now. I would be much happier if he went back to this style because I like laid back reviews, not hyper active ones where someone sounds like they shot up with speed before doing a review.

  • @Roxas0987654321 Very nice, thanks for sharing man. :)

  • silpheed the lost plannet-- brings back memories

    gameplay10/10

    graphics 9.5/10

    weapon choice 9/10

    sounds10/10

this is the game to get! :D

  • At first I thought this was Lost Planet for PS2 lol

  • AAAH! ZARDOZ. 1:42

  • I prefer Wind Squid tempora myself with a side order of Sushimi and California rolls. ;)

  • I want Wind Squid!

  • shouldent there be no smoke in space, because there is no air to accommodate combustion??/....

  • Zardozzzzz

  • i think this is your greatest review yet!!D except of course for "Ninja Golf"...)

    can't wait for "Wind Squid"!!!3

  • it's like Ray crisis for ps1

  • The voice narration in that opening sequence sounded like the guy who did Alucard's voice in Symphony of the Night.

  • Picked up this game for 2 bucks at gamestop, best 2 bucks I ever spent there :D

  • HOLY SHIT, the Narrator in the game is ALUCARD from Castlevania symphony of the night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @willd3rbeast He also narrated the intro to Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance

  • Silpheed 2: Lost Planet

Silpheed 3: Planet Found, but squashed

Silpheed 4: Dude, Where's My Planet?

  • "HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIT"

    10 outta 10.

  • isn't the dude that starts talking at 00:40 from the first tenchu? he used to read the mission objectives and stuff before every mission!

  • Treasure game, that's enough to know it's a good game.

  • That whole blurb at 7:30 - 8:30 is the way games should be!

  • Man do the weapons suck on this game!

  • I'm pretty sure Treasure already did Wind Squid. It's called Sin and Punishment Star Successor.

  • @DaNorthernLight I'm sure it will be out on Atari 2800 and Vectrex. Other consoles, I'm not sure. And I think it will have online co-op.

  • Shame on you Mark, how could you say this game was any good. This game is TERRIBLE! Slow, clunky, too easy, god-awful graphics, forgettable music.

I love shmups. Under Defeat is my fav game, and I own almost all Dreamcast shooters and have had a few saturn and megadrive ones, but this is simply atrocious.

  • Of course the soundtrack sucks. Around this time, Working Designs was seriously hemorrhaging money due to their unwillingness to develop for other platforms due to a feud between WD's Victor Ireland and Sony's Bernie Stolar . WD's move to Sony only happened because Stolar was picked up by Sega.... Or you can blame it on their expensive packaging, since most of their games were either only deluxe releases or came in foil-stamped cases. Either way, they made some awesome games.

  • yo buddy you just got me wanting to buy this game......now i just need to go to the pawn shop XD

  • @neogoterra It's $3.99 at Gamestop.

  • @beyondthegrave2005 heh got it for a trade at my near by pawn shop

  • @neogoterra Wish I had that kind of luck.

  • "Targets? What targets? That's just rocks. What? Life readings? HOLY SHI-KABOOMPH!"

  • i am trying to remember a game quite like this all i can recall is tow giant squids disguised as alies coming out and distroing me on the 2nd lvl got eny ideas

  • I could never beat that tired boss, that was as far as I got on that game.

  • Silpheed is a weird name but so is Turok. Some people are so random.

  • SHOOT THE CO.oh wait wrong game. Sorry my bad.

  • Windquid, if only, please somebody make it with crazy bosses on seesaw's spewing children everywere. The lost planet looks good though.

  • I am aware of a game creator called Shoot'em Up Construction Kit. It permits anyone to create a Shoom style game without having to know programming. Sadly, it's 22 years outdated and runs on tech too weak for Wind Squid's needs. Update this software and we've got something.

  • Cybernetic Spyder reminds me RAIDEN III level IV

  • is this game in anyway connected to Project Slypheed?

  • The original Silpheed on the Sega CD was awsome! I Loved the epic soundtrack. But this sequal sucked

  • when is wind squid coming out?

  • HOLY SHI-BOOM!

  • just throw on the sound track to thunderforce IV and your set!

  • i so wanna play windsquid

  • i just bought this game on ebay for $1.99 :)

  • Windsquid pre-order link please?

  • I'm glad I have this on both Sega CD abd PS2. But, I have to say that Wind Squid DOES sound so much more interesting. ")

What with the fun balls, technicolor candy cane forest, malt-liquor toaster alligator robots, and the bagpipe soundtrack, what's not to like?

  • i want to be a game desinger mabye i could make a wind squid game

  • the voice actor in the beggining is the same actor that plays Alucard in Castlevania Symphony of the Night

  • : o you are right

  • I appreciate the effort you put into these reviews but I own this game and it's not that good. This, just like the remake of 1942 is way too slow. My copy has been sitting on the shelf collecting dust for years now. I liked the graphics and cut scenes but not the gameplay. I'd give this a 3 out of 10.

  • I like Cephalopod!

  • It´s a great game.

  • ALL HAIL WIND SQUID

  • The voice acting in the game's opening is ridiculous.

    Also, WIND SQUID!

  • LOL... the coments are criminal... really funny...5/5

  • Shame on me for selling this...

  • Another xlnt, and comedic review. Please tell me the name of the reviewer. He's very talented in my opinion. Thanks

  • all hail wind squid!!!!!!!

  • And you'll find nothing will have happened.

  • This game is ass. Nice graphics and design, but the gameplay is dull.

  • Im glad that douche died at the begininng, i hated his voice

  • Imaginary Squid type Alien of Internet-people by side.....

    Western (US,England,ETC)

: Invader our Earth and destroy or take over our home planet....

    Eastern (Japan,ETC)

: Invader our Earth but kill only men and capture only cute girls for some funny with her....

    Um.... it looking different.... :p

  • cant wait to play wind squid i wonder what system it's going to come out for ?

  • xD hillarious

  • good review 5/5 and ps I love this game I have played a week solid with no sleep before

  • awesome review

  • The voiceover sounds so familiar...is that Alucard from Castlevania SOTN?!

  • the reviewer voice was from gt4 ps2 review

  • you mean mark?

  • mark

  • Awesome review.

  • This happens to be one of my favorite games of all time! This video is going in my favorites.

  • one of ur better newer ones..

made a good point about the boses...

  • I know I definately fear the Wind Squid! :D

  • But no one can defeat lord Zonemozonmexonx, for he has so many z & xs in his name that he is the most powerful being in all of existence

  • No mention of Treasure's part in developing this game? For shame............

  • You are correct. Treasure and Working Design. Awesome team, they should do more! -CGRHD

  • @InecomCompany I want more shmups so bad!

  • Heard that Nintendo; You better make Wind Squid for the Wii, now!

  • LOL sylpheed: planet found!!! BEST SEQUEL EVER

  • after Wind Squid, nothing will be the same any more. we will all be wearing ironing boards for hats, and sing the National Wind Squid Anthem, a song with 30,000 different words, set to a fugal version of the Benny Hill theme song. after Wind Squid, mankind can finally leap forward and begin its next evolutionary stage. i will bow for you, Wind Squid god. i will bow.

  • I am currently developing a scrolling shooter called Air Shrimp. One of my bosses is gonna be a robot merman except instead of a fish tail, he will have a machine gun. Also, he will have big breasts because sex sells. Maybe he should be a merMAID...I gotta go.

  • Good idea, make sure one of the bosss batlles is just a cruedly drawn picture of a sea rinosaurus that shoots baby deer at you from its eyes. It only makes sence

  • Yeah, Starwars had that all figured out lol, I look forward to the battle with yourself, and the boss battle with XxXZamonXxXRageXxXMarshmellowLaserBallsZZZZZZZBBQ

  • Sharp sticks. Obviously.

  • This is what I'm talking about!--3d shmup. Consider is bought'n

  • lol, "that nothing just rocks, sssshhhhiiiiiitttttt"
