  • Someone is walking someone at 3:01

  • Okay so for @fatlikeraisins i think most parts of this hospital or basically whats left of this hospital is Legally functioning today and for the High black fence you were talking about its for the "criminaly" insane so yeah you could say that part is like a jail

  • @Jaws, as far as I know, as I live within walking distance to the facility, certain portions are still functioning. Others, however, are pretty much "Off limits" unless you're lucky enough to sneak inside and grab some nice footage such as this. ;)

  • When I first read that sign I thought it said "Taun Taun Hospital". I thought maybe Han Solo should have taken his there when it froze to death on Hoth!

  • @HandsOfChaos oh it scared me because i thought he was illegally broken in but it was a tour? oh lol

  • part of it is still functional, i was placed there when i was 21 by plymouth county court for a 90 day eval, that place was a horror show

.im 29 now just as a time reference

  • hey i was just wondering if your allowed to go in there legally of do you have to sneak in there

  • 3:01 theres like someone that walks by

  • okay so a couple of weeks ago i went to taunton state hospital and there were a lot of cars parked and i saw people entering one of the buildings? is it still functioning? i noticed some fire damage on the windows of some parts of the building but it didn't look abandoned at all? just out of curiosity does anybody know what's the deal? also that big building that is surrounded by the huge fenced in lawn? what's that building used for? looked like a prison fence

  • @fatlikeraisins one part is turned into a place called howland and its a lock up facility for minors, went there as a kid a couple times and even that building is scary as hell

  • @fatlikeraisins. Have a look on an urban-exploration site named derelicte.co.uk. Look for the Merrifield kids unit in Taunton. Myself, and other survivors of that death hole have posted some of our experiences. x

  • its not random owners its the states and its conservation notrhing can be done with it

  • why do we not try and see that old buildings such as this one (you can tell the detail and workmanship put into it) be renevated into appartment complexes or community centers? i think there should be a law making owners utilize the land and buildings in a productive way or loose all rights to the property after so many years. nit is a shame that these ols structures are abandoned and left to rot liek they have no purpose.

  • @bduhe219 Really? I wouldn't want to rent a place where people were electricuted & given god knows what treatments. The state will never let out what really happened there. I went one time for an AA meeting in support of a friend & had to leave at break 1/2 way through. I like ghost stuff, but I couldn't stay! WOW the hair stood up on the back of my neck the whole time. I agree totally that buildings should be kept up and used instead of wasting good structure and new land, but NOT that place!!

  • was that a grocery pushcart?

  • It's good that there exists some documentation of this beautiful place before it was destroyed.

  • I lived just down the street from this place when I was a kid from 1960-1968. YES creepy is the word for it...but you could use it as a short cut to get to a street on the other side. My dad would drive thru on a regular basis. I live on Hodges Avenue. My 2 sisters can attest to things that happened on that street...I have never gone into nor wanted to go into Taunton State Hospital.

  • A pushcart! Interesting...

  • is this the one in taunton massachusetts?

  • Go to 3 min and u see a ghost!!!!!!!

  • dat is such a creepy palce yo

  • Taunton in Somerset England also had a big derelict Victorian asylum hospital.

"Tone Vale Hospital" now renamed " Cotford St Luke ".

It was turned in to apartments, the chapel a restaurant, some out buildings in to a shop, & the grounds had a new but old looking village built around it.

A shame they didn't save the US Taunton Hospital building it looked great.

  • @askinlad Taunton hospital also had a kids one called Merrifield. It was a death-hole. Even as late as 1991, there were things going on there that no kid should ever see. x

  • @fizzyladybird77 like what????????????

  • I live so close to this place I could walk to it. Great to see how it looks on the inside..seriously creepy! Love it.

  • creepy....ohh........

  • Did anyone else see the man walking???

  • erm... át 3:00 there is guy walking... :O

  • @xoash84xo OMG! there IS!! holy banana nut shits! WHOA =COOL! :)

  • @xoash84xo haha nice!

  • they demolish all of them?

  • Years ago, my brother worked in the boiler room, 3:58-4:18.

I used to hang out with him to keep him company. Interesting place.

  • Abandoned here actually.

  • If i was to walk through this building i would feel more sad than scared because i would be thinking of all the children and adults who were left here because of some form of mental handicap.

  • i always wondered what it was like in there, and yeah there tearing it down one building at a time. its not closed down, just some buildings are

  • i like near here....creepy

  • When was this place closed down?

  • 1975 or so

  • i use to deliver food there in 1983,it was stiil open

  • slowest walker ever

  • at 3:00. who was that at the end of the hallway?

  • his boyfriend

  • I grew up rite near this place &when I was a kid,me &my friends used to play on the TSH grounds. We used to walk up to that building but never had the balls to go in.That place was fuckin creepy

  • I cant wait to go

  • I was watching this vid, then my mom walked in and was like " Hey, ive been there b4", lol.... She use to observe there in college... Man i wish i could have visited this place b4 it was torn down, so much history gone.

  • they didnt tear it down my friend just went there today...

  • @RJK000008.. O my bad. I went on a site and they said it was gone. So there's still a chance to see it

  • I live 5 mins away from here

When I was younger, I use to live on the street that opened up to the main entrance

me and my friends use to play a little bit on the fields, but the adults told us we'd get in trouble, so we stopped like good children lol

  • My cousin was a patient there years ago, he is in a group home now. I see him once a month and if he feel`s he did something wrong he will cry out 'dont take me to taunton'. How that one place affected so many.

  • oh...yeah....thanksforpost

  • one of the most beautiful asylums ive seen yet

  • @jaynies1 There are others that were just as pretty and now gone. You can find them on You Tube.

  • what was that at 3:01

  • Ive worked overnight shift here for 10 years and haven't seen any ghosts yet, although I know someone who works in one of the buildings who found a 100 year old brain in a jar during the construction going on there! if those walls could talk

  • Do you know if it is demolished completely now? I live nearby and would love to go see it if its still possible.

  • was that a ghost walking through the tunnel?

  • I play paintball their

  • Is this hospital still standing? I live really close to Taunton and I'm planning to explore it. If anyone knows about it than message me please.

  • yes it is still standing my dad works there

  • I thought I heard someone say: "Get Outta Here" at 4:36-4:37...

  • @MrNightOwl88 Yep...heard it too... EVP...Awesome catch!

  • I have an Idea: go at night

  • i have its scary shit

  • My band filmed part of our music video (song called Not Insane, ironic) in front of one of the sections....thats until we got told to leave.

The big black fence they put up ruins the whole thing.

  • OMG.

WHO is that walking past at 3:02!?!?! GAH CREEPY.

  • ive ben their before we used to drive up to it in my car till they fenced it up and my moms friend is a guard there

  • WHO IS THAT at 3:01 - 3:02!?!

  • very cool!

  • me and my friends always wnet in here when we were kids and i can tell you this place is haunted at least these people dident hear the screams and the verry sad crying of a woman

  • Great footage.Beautiful building. They don't put that kind of effort into modern architecture. We have 4 Kirlbride mental hospitals here in Iowa. They are all in perfect condition, and three of them are still in full operation. In case you want to look them up on line they are Cherokee, Clarinda, Mount Pleasant, and Independence. Independence was only recently closed but they are using it again for womens' prison overflow and an abused youth shelter I believe. This place is cooler than Buffalo.

  • I know, it sucks how they're planning on tearing down the place...

  • yeah, they should really tear down the green its a traffic nightmare lol

  • watch 3:18 u will notice a quich white distortion on the right of the screen, maybe something maybe nothing

  • my dad is salvaging parts of the building and is taking me along. i am pumped to check out the buildings, maybe the basements if i grow some balls first

  • lol just watch where you step. I went into one of these before, fell through the floor, broke my leg. it was fun...lots of fun

  • oh i havn't been to this place i've been to paul devers, oops

  • is that a camera on the wall? 0:28

  • I see the flash of light but its someone else, as in a living person they give of a shadow when they walk by

  • It's a shame they just abandon such pretty buildings.

  • Oh, Taunton State Hospital is still 'in business'. There are several 'clients' still living on the premises. This is just ONE of many buildings.

  • This was taken months AFTER the big fire. The whole building did NOT burn down. There are/were several buildings on this site. I live about 2 miles from here but never been to it!!!!

  • okay my bad i didn't watch the rest of it after some person just walks by lol i got excited for a moment

  • did anyone eles notice the little spark of light that goes off at 2:55 at the end of the hallway. it was like a little ball of light that glowed for a split second

  • And then a few secs later you see somone walking there. That is creepy unless it was a friend of the folks filming in there?

  • my cousin brings some people there that he catches and he said this was a creepy place and damn if he didnt lie

  • that is creepy .... i think its and old lady

  • where is this place located and is it still standing?

  • Its located in Taunton Massachusetts located around Tremont street area in a back road near Hubcap King and Trucchi's and no the building burnt down in 2006. I think the wreckage is still there; I'm not really sure.

  • jess-james?

  • you are talking about lizzie borden

  • oh so at exactly 3 minutes into the movie someone walks by. Now ive heard that theres some crazy lady that used to go to this hospital and she butchered her parents with an axe. seems pretty traditional. but theres also a rhyme for it too. forgot it though.

  • How much of this still stands?

  • Didn't this place burn down?

  • and can someone tell me why "3 minutes" into the video when he's in the basement someone walks by the passage way.. i thought you were alone?

  • i ran throught that place at night by myself scaring my friends... shit is haunted though

  • dude what if a giant ball of pubic hair just came out out from behind the corner and started to dance

  • lol

  • so many abandon lunatic asylums in america..i wonder if these are MK ultra CIA experiments that are not needed anymore.

is there any videos of real working mental asylums..with crazy people going crazy?

  • sucks the auditorium's gone now..

  • woah woah FUCK THAT. you went ALONE?

  • psh, go at night pussy

    =P

  • oi next time ur there go into the attics all the old records are still there all wiv photos its fukt rite up

  • Looks like a nice old building. Shame they let it get run down. When was it built ?

  • 1854

  • insane video, i love this place, is it still accessible?

  • nahh i waz just up there last week, me and my family got kicked outta there by a security guard and it has a huge fence around it

  • I used to live near there too, and yes, the police keep heavy watch over the place now. Nice footage, though, I wish I had been brave enough to go in when it was less guarded. :)

  • ive only been caught once.(well my fat ass friends did but)yeah i think its cause we made a hole in the fence

  • keep going and i'm sure u will get caught again dumbass

  • its not haunted its just that there is people working there so if you get caught ur screwed. seconds its falling apart so u might fall through the stairs.

  • hey i live in taunton MA and i've been in there many times.theres a broken part of of the fence where me and my friends get in its not really tight on security except for the few broken security cameras so yeah ive been in and it was really creepy. theres charlie brown pictures scattered across the ground and weird rooms . DONT GO DOWN INTO THE BASEMENT!!!!!!!!

  • why not?

and why is it supposedly haunted?

  • i actually work here..there are security and the cameras aren't broken

  • what do you do? place is abandoned. must be real cool to work there, ever see anything crazy?

  • i live right near there :]

  • interesting documentary!!!!!!!

    Elvira from Italy

  • yeah im from taunton this place is something half the place is down but there is still a part that is more new where the mental live ive always wanted to go to this place but the cops have a tight wacth on it

  • Thanks! 5 stars and subscription, keep the Abandoned Mental Asylum footage coming! <=)

  • why is the electricity still running if its abandoned?(the loud electric hum of a generator at

  • i used to live next to the grounds off hodges ave..i lived ryte on the corner on morton street..i used to have people from the hospital walking by my house...it was crazi

  • this aint the hospital in england is it

  • no, this is in taunton massachusetts in the united states

  • oh ok

  • heave you been in the basement? becasue thers a secret they tell.

and nice joke the guy passing the camera

  • What's with the basemnent?

  • they kept the dead body's there...

the mythe is that any one who goes down there is going to die, because the ghosts of the dead ppl never could rest..

  • Hm, How interesting.

  • Awesome this is one of the prettiest hospitals ever. Thanks for getting the footage,I gave you 5stars.

  • what is that at 2:54!?

  • there is a way to get in there without climbing the fence if you have a small shovel or stick just dig under.. do it at night and squeeze under, there is(or was not sure if its still) a broken lock off of one of the doors. no idea how i know thattttt.. anyway, we were exploring the tunnels and then we heard something whistling a tune, not the wind, a legitimate tune. we ran..

  • there's something eerie about checking out old buildings, even if its not a lunatic asylum, I remember going through our old school and walking over the broken glass, trying to see where i was going, and could remember it when it was alive with students, but this is something else, good vid mate

  • Awesome video, good job

  • remineds me of danvers state hospital

  • Ive never been able to get in here cause of that damn fence and security but awesome video

  • there's a slit in the fence...but i wouldnt know anything about that..or about out running security...no sir e bob

  • i hear ya

  • Great shit! I like seeing this older footage prior to the fence and these newbie hardcore emo explorers.

  • YO Slick... not everyone's been able to see Taunton, I got my shit chased out of there beacuse of a fake Open house.... dont call explorers emo... .... the emo kids are too pussed out to even climb that fuckin fence

  • This is so old school. I love it!

  • dig the footage. you get to explore the depths at all?

  • Yes
