  • สวัสดีครับ!

What is "pretty" (for women) in Thai? Or can you use "หล่อ" for women too?

  • @vanillesossenchecker "หล่อ" is only used for men. For women we say "สวย" or "น่ารัก"

  • สวัสดีครับครู I would like to ask, when do I use เวลา and when do I use เมื่อ ? I understand that เวลา can mean 'time' or 'when'(assume 'when' in the context of my question). I also know เมื่อ just means 'when'. So, when do I know which word to use? Or are both acceptable? ขอบคุณครับ

  • @aloozer

สวัสดีค่ะ "เมื่อ" is 'when' (conjunction) used when talking about a period of time, or during the time when

ex. When I was a kid, I did not like to eat vegetable. เมื่อผมเป็นเด็ก ผมไม่ชอบกินผัก

** เมื่อ is in written form, we use ตอน in spoken language:)

เวลา is 'when' used for things that are timeless or true at all times; habitual

ex. She tends to cry when angry เขาชอบร้องไห้เวลาโมโห

  • @LearnThaiwithMod Alright thanks. I'll take some time to digest that.

  • pom rak kun ^_^

  • Mod can you make yourself less beautiful? i try my best but 1/2 way through each lesson i stop listening and start dreaming

  • Mod is beautiful/ Mod suay ?!?!

  • @DerJoschica That's correct. kop kun ka:)

  • ขอบคุณค่ะ

  • nationality can also be a 'noun'. like i'd say ผม เป็น คน สิงคโปร์ .

  • @aloozer ถูกต้องค่ะ that's correct:)

  • @aloozer but then its referring to the noun "คน" so its a bit of cheating but :) I do that a lot.. its like saying "You are a beautiful person" instead of saying " You are beautiful" :)

  • @M4o you got it right! เก่งมากค่ะ :)

  • Thank you very much but please explain "kue". I hear it all the time but never seem to correctly use it myself. Khop khun mak khrub na P!

  • I understand so much! thank you!

but I have a question, how to say 'I have a question'?

and is it police have specifix meaning, dtam ruang. I mean meaning of dtam. meaning of ruang?

one more, kue... I think it use for describe meaning like for example, Love is bla bla bla.. am i right?

thank you.. I love you ka 3

  • @marnimarien

    I = pom, have = mee, question = kam-taam; pom mee kam-taam = I have a question.

As for police in Thai is "dtam-ruat". It is one word, you cannot seperate them.

"kue" is mostly used to give explanation. You are right:)

  • @marnimarien Sorry, you are female, so I = chan (ฉัน) :D

  • ... and we have a cute thai teacher -:)

  • So I noticed how well you can "roll" your r's. I can't do this so should I make an L sound or R sound. For example I always thought hot= larn. Thank you :)

  • @tama1550 It is ok to make L sound instead of R sound. Most Thais do that anyway, but I want to show you the corerct pronunciation:)

  • Kop khun na ka :-)

  • Thank you Mod, very interesting!

  • Excellent and very important lesson ! คุณครู ผมขอบคุณ และโชคดีครับ
