Dude I went to ranger school at the top of the order of merit and didn't make it. Twice. I'm not tooting my horn but I slept my way through basic and still got a beret. With all due respect, Ranger school is not even comparable to basic. It places EXTREME physical and emotional demands on you. You have to be a fucking warrior to graduate. Rangers are elite. It is a test of your character more than anything else. You have to want it, because they literally break your body down once you are there.

@fsuwideout133, your security clearance does not mean you are better. I was in the 101st Airborne Air Assault. My primary MOS was 31 mike(radio operator) and I had a secrete security clearance. So does that make me better then the Rangers as well. A soldier in any branch is only as good as the team he is with. Thinking one is better then the other only shows how ignorant you are.
I would not get it confused...one thing is ranger school and another is ranger units....and seal do go threw a pipeline and they do hit most of the army schools....and in my ranger class we did have seals, PJs, Combat ATC and Marine force recon! and dont be ignorant....the course is not the easiest out there to conquer..it took me 5 times around to finish and while those 8 months went by i saw many marines, soldiers and combat veterans fail.....this is not like any other school out there...
Both deserving of respect, but Rangers aren't Special Forces. They are completely different with a completely different mission. And these guys aren't Rangers. They are just becoming Ranger qualified, then going back to their Infantry or other units. Only a few of these guys will go on to 75th Ranger Rgt. Earning the tab doesn't make you a Ranger, the scroll does; just like earning Airborne wings doesn't make you a Paratrooper. Rangers are in Ranger battalions, Paratroopers are in Airborne rgts.

I can't go to Ranger School because I'm a female but I honestly don't think I could finish it even if I was allowed to attend. Being a former Army Ranger and Special Forces member I know what it takes to work along a close group. You see even the Special Ops community found out the benefits of paint balling. They use paint balling as a learning tool to train Army Special Forces in today's Army. Keeping learning and stay focused on the things you love.

@fsuwideout133, your security clearance does not mean you are better. I was in the 101st Airborne Air Assault. My primary MOS was 31 mike(radio operator) and I had a secrete security clearance. So does that make me better then the Rangers as well. A soldier in any branch is only as good as the team he is with. Thinking one is better then the other only shows how ignorant you are.

I would not get it confused...one thing is ranger school and another is ranger units....and seal do go threw a pipeline and they do hit most of the army schools....and in my ranger class we did have seals, PJs, Combat ATC and Marine force recon! and dont be ignorant....the course is not the easiest out there to conquer..it took me 5 times around to finish and while those 8 months went by i saw many marines, soldiers and combat veterans fail.....this is not like any other school out there...

Both deserving of respect, but Rangers aren't Special Forces. They are completely different with a completely different mission. And these guys aren't Rangers. They are just becoming Ranger qualified, then going back to their Infantry or other units. Only a few of these guys will go on to 75th Ranger Rgt. Earning the tab doesn't make you a Ranger, the scroll does; just like earning Airborne wings doesn't make you a Paratrooper. Rangers are in Ranger battalions, Paratroopers are in Airborne rgts.

@KNIhokki Absolutely, that's why I said wearing the scroll makes you a Ranger, not the tab. Some of the students definitely are Rangers, but a good portion of them are just cherry LTs or other Infantryman looking to go back to their units (82nd, 173rd, 101st, 25th) with a black and gold tab.

@KNI I agree. Im not cuttin on Ranger School, but some of their graduates leave there feeling they've reached the pinnacle of their effort in the military and turn into lazy shitbags. We call em Tab-Turds. But all the same, many come out better with a better understanding of their limits, regarding food, sleep, and physical/mental toughness. Im just getting sick of the Army's need to show badges, medals, tabs, at all times just to seek glory and flash. If you want glory, go to the PX and buy it.

I have so much respect for these guys. I'm applying to West Point this year, but being in the Special Operations takes so much more. I can't go to Ranger School because I'm a female but I honestly don't think I could finish it even if I was allowed to attend. So much respect for all of you Rangers and other Special Operations units.

Being a former Army Ranger and Special Forces member I know what it takes to work along a close group. You see even the Special Ops community found out the benefits of paint balling. They use paint balling as a learning tool to train Army Special Forces in today's Army. Keeping learning and stay focused on the things you love.
