  • can you use all kinds of wood?

  • What a nice guy, excellent video buddy.

  • very informative and very too the point, and I love that. A lot of people give a little history lesson before hand and honestly that throws my minds off into a whole new direction when people do that, but this explains it all and it's exactly what I needed to learn, thank you, may your knowledge and wisdom guide others :D

  • I like the music in the background.

  • spent the last two weekends working on my bow . Went real well , I thought.

I tillered the bow and it looked good ,after all day the bow broke. wish I could

show you pics. don't give up guys.

  • If you start off with a 1/2" board, would that work? Or would it be too narrow at the handle? I only have hand tools so I'm trying to cut down on the amount of cutting required. Awesome video btw, you've inspired me to want to make a bow.

  • @3rdPersonRocks it needs to be at least 1 1/2 wide

  • Could you make me a bow?

  • @RonniePartain

    Sure, That's what I do.

  • @PrimitiveArcher101 How do u make a Yew flatbow with out sapwood?

  • the black walnut handle you put on does that go over the whole riser ??

  • can u make a pyramid styled bow from ash? ima first timer

  • hi i really want to make one but 62'' is like one inch shorter than me (im 13) would it work the same if i chopped like 10 inches to 1 foot off?

  • what to you protect the bow with? the coating i mean.

  • Thanks for all the great info sir. Fav vid on bow building, five stars.

  • Thanks

  • nice set of videos i have a question. do you have to make the limbs wider if you make a longer bow. my bows are 6 feet long can i still make the fades 2 inches wide and be good. i love the look of these bows. thanks for sharing.

  • It would be really cool if u had a vid on how to make a longbow and my bow snaped how long should i leave it to bend

  • How much would you charge for one ??

  • The bow turned out great . How long should the string be for a 62 in bow when it is flat

  • @TayLewis100 Sorry it took so long to reply. This comment got lost somehow and I just now found it.

I hope you have made a string already.

I usually make the string 31/2" shorter than the string rests on the tips.

  • PrimativeArcher101 should i sand the piece of wood down to a little over 1/2 in or cut it with a saw

  • @TayLewis100 I use a Band Saw to cut it down at this stage but you must be careful not to cut one side too thin.

  • Thanks

  • TayLewis100,

I don't remember the size of this piece but you can make a good strong bow from a 1X3 6'long. It will actually measure only 3/4" X 2 1/2" X 6'.

For the Pyramid bow I usually look for at least a 1X3 although I made one special for a guy in Canada that is 3 1/4" wide and it was Awsome looking and smooth as can be to shoot.

    Good luck,

    Milton

  • I was wondering how big the piece of wood is?

  • i can't find the wood anywhere :-( I'm from belgium :-(

  • 5 stars and faved. Excellent vid thanks.

  • next time if u have a chance can u redo the layouts in pen or marker cause i cant see the line

  • How long does it take you to make one? And what hand tools would one need if you didn't have any power tools?

  • It takes me 5-6 hours of work time to make a bow then longer for the leather grip and extra fine sanding and applying the finish.

You should be able to do it with a coping saw some wood rasps and files and the most important thing is a Sureform Rasp that you can buy at your local hardware. Then some sand paper.

Lots of hard work but fun and worth it.

Good luck man and enjoy it.

    Milton

  • do u think tht u can make one of the pyamid bow with a glass back and belly

  • I don't work with glass. All I do is primitive bows but I'm sure you could but it would have to be made of hickory or osage or another bow-wood that would hold up to the extra stresses that glass will put on the wood.
