very informative and very too the point, and I love that. A lot of people give a little history lesson before hand and honestly that throws my minds off into a whole new direction when people do that, but this explains it all and it's exactly what I needed to learn, thank you, may your knowledge and wisdom guide others :D
If you start off with a 1/2" board, would that work? Or would it be too narrow at the handle? I only have hand tools so I'm trying to cut down on the amount of cutting required. Awesome video btw, you've inspired me to want to make a bow.
nice set of videos i have a question. do you have to make the limbs wider if you make a longer bow. my bows are 6 feet long can i still make the fades 2 inches wide and be good. i love the look of these bows. thanks for sharing.
I don't remember the size of this piece but you can make a good strong bow from a 1X3 6'long. It will actually measure only 3/4" X 2 1/2" X 6'.
For the Pyramid bow I usually look for at least a 1X3 although I made one special for a guy in Canada that is 3 1/4" wide and it was Awsome looking and smooth as can be to shoot.
It takes me 5-6 hours of work time to make a bow then longer for the leather grip and extra fine sanding and applying the finish.
You should be able to do it with a coping saw some wood rasps and files and the most important thing is a Sureform Rasp that you can buy at your local hardware. Then some sand paper.
I don't work with glass. All I do is primitive bows but I'm sure you could but it would have to be made of hickory or osage or another bow-wood that would hold up to the extra stresses that glass will put on the wood.
can you use all kinds of wood?

The bow turned out great . How long should the string be for a 62 in bow when it is flat
TayLewis100 1 year ago
@TayLewis100 Sorry it took so long to reply. This comment got lost somehow and I just now found it.
I hope you have made a string already.
I usually make the string 31/2" shorter than the string rests on the tips.

PrimativeArcher101 should i sand the piece of wood down to a little over 1/2 in or cut it with a saw
TayLewis100 1 year ago
@TayLewis100 I use a Band Saw to cut it down at this stage but you must be careful not to cut one side too thin.

How long does it take you to make one? And what hand tools would one need if you didn't have any power tools?

Lots of hard work but fun and worth it.
Good luck man and enjoy it.
