  • 90% of eating disorder movies start with someone jogging.

  • why do I keep on coming back to this movie? It's a great movie, but I'm starting to see myself in her.... still- great movie!!

  • I love how everyone at the dance has calf length or longer dresses

but every dance I've ever gone too had ass spilling out and boobs bouncing everywhere.

  • "I'll bring you up some crackers"

LMAO yeah, like you're really supposed to be eating crackers a few hours after having your wisdom teeth removed.

  • Since when do school dances go past 2 in the morning?

  • I love this movie! Can anyone recommend other movies, similar to this one? About anorexia not bulimia.

  • @someone12310 'Dying to Dance', 'A Secret Between Friends' (When Friendship Kills), 'Perfect Body', 'The Best Little Girl in the World', 'The Karen Carpenter Story', 'Centre Stage', 'Little Girls in Pretty Boxes'.

Most of them are here on youtube.

  • Anyone know of more modern movies? Like...last 6 years XD

  • why is it that whenever i watch a movie about anorexia, there a bunch of lesbian themed video suggestions on the side?

  • @lahswe21 i was wondering that too.....

  • lol ugly 90s prom dress

  • Did art imitate life or did life imitate art?

  • @alifeinthelens she was sick from a young age, during the end of filming Growing Pains I think... I watched a docu on her and her eating disorder and there's a scene at the end of the last episode where the family are all eating pizza, except Tracey who picks at it and pretends to chew (you can see she doesnt take a bite)

  • Ok all the people who are mocking her hair n clothes... Get over it! It was the 90's. And also it makes me mad cuz wen I got my wisdom teeth taken out, I had a rap around my he'd and my face was so swollen I looked like a chipmunk

  • I watched this in my health class <3

  • That dress is horrifying.

  • is that the dude who played on saved by the bell? the blonde dude, nancy's brother?

  • @Hbotrublood yes it is.

  • Am I a sick human being for liking to eat pasta while watching these movies?

  • nancy is stunning. But her hair is fucked.

  • THERE IS A MODERN MOVIE ABOUT EATING DISORDERS. It's called: Hunger Point.

  • @HannaColasurdoBrah Yeah, but Hunger Point has some of the worst acting and most horrible characters. I didn't feel a bit of sympathy for anyone in that film....

  • @HannaColasurdoBrah eh hunger point is boring to me.

  • havent watch this in a long time. since 2008

  • It looks like the mom has an ed.

  • instead of makign her parents think its their fault*****

  • ..its amazing how far she took it...ive been there....but...fuck like ending up in the hospital? and why..because her mother was a tad to controlling...? cmon...she has self -esteem issues..and possibly depression...she should of explained that to her parents instead of make them think its her fault. im sorry but she seems so selfish in this movie..but than i take another look..and see how hard she attempts to appear normal..there taking away the only thing she felt in control of..*sad :S *

  • Why is this 30 year old going to prom?

  • why was she jogging in jeans ?

  • @AshGooods they are clearly sweatpants

  • Brother and sister kiss each other on the lips before bed? Anyone else find that strange?

  • @untilmyworldends Yes, this IS strange. :|

  • wow I had to watch this in health class freshman or sophomore year

  • @paulmlg2010 me too. lol I think I watched it ib 8th grade though. don't remember. it was so long ago

  • bro and sis kiss ohhhhhhh

  • my friend is searching that movie on dvd since more then one year, does somebody know, where you can buy this movie?

  • There needs to be a modern movie about eating disorders. Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with the older ones, sometimes, but they're all from like the 80s or 90s

  • @SomethingInTheWay95 I agree with you 100%!!!

  • @SomethingInTheWay95 i agree. i do believe there are different pressures NOW, than there were then..and its a totally different atmosphere generally. i think id like to see a modern depiction of an eating disorder(not even necessarily annorexia)

  • @SomethingInTheWay95 which is quite ironic really, considering in the 80s EDs were much more of an unknown illness, whereas now there's always tv coverage about it, like supersize vs. superskinny, or just general celebrity coverage. It's just yet to be made into an actual modern film.

  • @SomethingInTheWay95 they are!! hmm... we should get on that. especially with youtube etc now adays, it would be so much easier to make an indie flick

  • @SomethingInTheWay95 I think it's considered "too sensitive" of an issue for a new movie these days...

  • @rosemarie8762 i agree. i wish it wasn't considered "too sensitive" of an issue for movies these days...i mean there's sex and drugs all over the media and movies these days, making ED awareness that much more warranted. ♥

  • @SomethingInTheWay95 plus i've watched them like...hmmm 5000 times? :)

  • Black would have been sooo much more slimming

  • I <3 Zack Morris! (Just had to say it, lol.)

  • that prom dress was awful

  • @brunettevideos Lmao

  • Oh wow my brother and me are WAAYYYY different then them

  • Comment removed

  • @KDVx3 I have. We did at my prom.

  • this is a good movie but it is pretty triggering so don't watch it if you have/had an ED

  • @arielrules365 through anxieties of leaving for college and not knowing where she is headed in her life. she felt out of control with her future. ive read that this is an extremely common stimulant for anorexia to develop.

  • @arielrules365 through anxieties of leaving for college and not knowing where she is headed in her life. she felt out of control with her future. ive read that this is an extremely common stimulant fot anoreixa to develop.

  • Did no one else notice how strange that was to see a brother and a sister, kiss eachother ON THE LIPS, goodnight..... ? I thought it was weird... and then the brother was all like, you comin upstairs? like, ...... i dunno, maybe its just me, but i found it exxxtttreeeemmmeeelllyyy awkward lol...

  • @TashaConnor It was on the cheek!!!!!!!!!!

  • In this movie Tracy Gold really reminds me of Brittany Murphy for some reason..

  • @littleboxxes that's so true!

  • Tracey Gold had an eating disorder in real life.

  • @arielrules365 I think she has a fear of growing up. The mom seems to be quite controlling over Nancy's life (the prom dress, her dorm room situation.) Also she is leaving for college which is a major change in her life. I think that, along with leaving her family (And mom who dominates her decision making) trigger her to stop eating. She uses the wisdom tooth pain as an excuse not to eat.

  • at 4:30 is that how yuppies party? wheres the beer kegger!?? LoL

  • Yeah, let's all just dance like we're blind and have three left feet. I think that's a blast.

  • It's not the dress. But it should be.

  • why is there ALWAYS someone jogging at the start of anorexia films?

  • @ThePlanetchild it gets pretty annoying lol

  • @ThePlanetchild hahaha I thought EXACTLY the same!!!

  • @ThePlanetchild Omg i know!1

  • @ThePlanetchild it was the first thing that i noticed :D

  • @ThePlanetchild because anorexia leads to the will of losing weight and to lose weight you ...yes ! you run !

  • @ThePlanetchild Because that is part of the disease. It starts innocently enough, usually. Exercising, then cutting out sweets, and more exercising. People tell you how great you look. No one notices you aren't taking in enough calories to support the exercising. Some one might tease about a bit of fat at some point, etc. Then you think you are still fat and you exercise more, eat less, take diet pills, laxatives, etc. That's why they open with the exercise.

  • @ToniHunterOne Of course you're right. And I think most of us who watch movies like this already know that stuff. But it's still hilarious that it's almost always JOGGING that they use. And it's always with the credits, right at the open.

  • @RaybRay89 Thanks for the reply RaybRay, It does show a lack of creative insight. If they have to start the movie with activity they could start the movie with the anorexic sitting in a suana, or swimming, or being critized by a parent for the inevitable minor weight gain that can happen when puberty strikes. I agree with you point. :p

  • @RaybRay89 Say I thought of two movies that don't start with a runner. They both happen to be about the same person, though, and they would be: The Karen Carpenter Story and Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story. . . My guess, of course, is because they are supposed to be relating true events in her tragic battle with anorexia.

  • @ThePlanetchild lol I was just thinking the same thing!

  • 9:33 like porn for an anorexic..

  • We watched this in Health class!

  • Of all the problems I have I WISH Anorexia was one of em...I'd trade my problems for this one in a minute, trust me!!

  • Are you that fucking stupid... I't almost killed me you asshole.

  • Are you really that stupid? It almost killed me you asshole.

  • @atlasshrugged2u I dont care what you have been through in your life....you should be ashamed of yourself for making such an ignorant comment.

  • @rachelbarker1987 Well thanks for your "opinion" but I meant what I said and If you don't like it that's YOUR problem my dear...

  • @atlasshrugged2u Wow a patronising bitch as well....congratulations!!!!

  • @rachelbarker1987 Why thank you.

You know what they say..."it takes one to know one"

    doesen't it LOL!!

Oh! and learn how to fucking spell genius

  • @rachelbarker1987 what didnt i spell right?......or are you an american who took the english language and fucked it up? So in your own words "learn to fucking spell genius"!!!!

  • NANCY GARIAC

  • i think her dress is pretty and she is so pretty :)

  • @xxLondonxxlondon Yes nancy of Tracey gold was cute as a teenager.SHe used to be a good actress for tv.

  • LEXIJENN PLZ UPLOAD THE PERFECT BODY

  • zack morris

  • omg zach morris

  • I heard that they filmed it backwards... so that all of Gold's "thin" scenes at the end were filmed first and her "not as thin" scenes at the beginning were, in turn, filmed at the end, after she had gained some weight. I don't know if that's true, but it's a theory I've heard. It makes sense, but it's potentially untrue.

  • I was about to ask about that topic... so thank you for posting it. I don't think at all that it's untrue however... a recovering ED/EDNOS actress would not be able to film or act out the last scenes as well without being thrown back into the habit... as far as Im concerned anyway...

  • carol from growing pains!

  • If any of you had seen "growing pains" you should notice that Tracy Gold had a BIG ASS, and in this movie THAT ASS HAS DISAPEARED

  • @monilisbeth93 maybe comments about her "big ass" from people like you had some effect on her lifestyle...

  • @daCrazyWay Hey I'm from Peru and I considered her BIG ASS as sexy, I would be proud having that.

  • Tracey Gold was way too old to play an 18 year-old for this.

  • @iLikeUrChopstickz I dont think so,

I think She looks younger than she is.. because of her skinny body

For me she seems to be a little girl

  • You stupid fucks need to shut up about the dress because that was the style in the 90s. I'm sure not everyone likes what you wear either now get off your high horse.

  • @stewielove101 I think they (production and director) choose that dress for Nancy in order to make her look fatter than she is... I mean... look at her!! SHE IS TOO THIN

  • @monilisbeth93 Yes she's very thin.I prefered when she was a little less thin.In growing pains, she had shapes. Here i feel nearly sad for her.TOo THIN!!!it is not very pretty.

  • Shut up about the dress this is from the 90s.

  • This movie is a total loser.

  • love her necklace

  • I feel fat all the time!

  • @Samantha2011ac same here

  • I think the dress would have looked a lot better sleeveless ... maybe.

  • I think the dress is pretty but definitely not something I would wear. I don't think it's her style nor her color

  • 8:56 - 9:25

That's like...me everyday at my house. Damn it.

This girl, it's like I'm watching me but in someone else's body. Strange.

  • @purpleshadow2010 this took place a looooonnnnnggggg time ago, that was the style back then, her dress is pretty in my opinion. its better than what the sluts nowadays are wearing

  • @he3rtbrok3n exactly....id love to find something like that even now!

  • @safehouse123 ikr? its pretty :)

  • whats the song called ? "i wont go home blues?"

  • the music is so cheesy :P

  • interesting since Tracy Gold was actually anorexic in real life! i woder if that is why she took the role and if it helped her in any real way...

  • god, her mom is so small. no wonder nancy had an ED

  • @cherayaj The actress in real life had cancer. R.I.P.

  • @taylordalee Yeuw, that's disgusting! My sister learned pretty fast not even to try to hug me. Bad enough shaking hands.

  • @zeldaofarel No I'm telling you 17 was!

  • O man I haven't watch this movie n a lonnnnnnnng time

  • Damn, my 6th grade SEX Ed. teacher made us watch this yrs ago...good movie.

  • Jadog113 2 How could you post such a comment? And ask such a question like that? By you asking that question. Shows what kind of person you. A cold hearted non caring individual. How would you feel if someone asked the question about you?

  • she certainly looks to be at a very healthy bmi in the beginning of this even though she had anorexia in real life.

  • she kisses her own brother on the lips?

  • @ClassicKids No it was on the cheek!!!

  • I was running just awhile ago, haha. My running style is quite the same, I run much faster thought (sorry for my English I do understand what you guys are talking about, but writing something yourself is harder...)

  • I love Mark-Paul Gosselaar :D

  • Did anyone else want this fucking bitch to die!?!?!

  • I don't know if maybe it's just me but she looks padded in this first part, maybe it's because she had lost the weight for the rest of the movie and so they padded her to look a little bigger earlier on in. I'm a wardrobe stylist, I tend to dissect movies at times but maybe I'm wrong.

    M.e.

  • @ANewTruMe She was actually was recovering from anorexia when she made this movie. It's probably just the cut of the sweat shirt she's wearing. Those shirts make EVERYONE look bulky. (Though, they may have padded her breasts. The rest of her looks pretty thin to me, though.)

  • @ANewTruMe She most likely is just padded up a bit, because I don't think she lost anymore weight at all while filming the movie. She was in recovery from Anorexia at the time, so I'm sure (depending on where she was at her recovery at the time, cause I'm not sure) that she was already pretty thin to begin with.

  • @labellavitaxox Oh wow...ok. Well I'm glad sshe was recovering, recovery is the first step to getting better. Thanks for your response. Yes, the shoulders and the red dress especially seemed to be a bit puffy and i could see where the padding stopped in the sleeve of the red dress. I really enjoyed this movie.

  • I know this has nothing to do with anything but with the number of times that woman was asking Nancy if she wanted a piece of the sandwich would have driven me crazy. It's like ''STOP ASKING ME, I SAID I DON'T WANT IT!''

  • the sad thing about this movie is Tracey Gold was actually anorexic in it and going through her worst times. According to her interviews.

  • It looks like Tracy over dosed on Dexitrim. Though she was a little chunky on Growing Pains.

  • that mom is sooo annoying

  • This movie is lame. Before you make the same mistake I did, let me warn you before you watch it: Don't watch it!

This movie is predictable, impossibly transparent and so simplified, that is just a waste of time. It's the worst movie about anorexia I've ever seen. Filled with cliches and stereotypical dogmas. And what's with that oh-look-at-you-gaining-weight smile in the clinic? Come on!

  • @werdo66 lollllll

  • Telling an anorexic person that he/she gained weight is like handing a lighter to somebody standing in the puddle of gasoline. And yeah, all cured by the good ol' magic talisman from daddy in the end. No, thanks. If you want to see a good movie about anorexia, watch the Sharing the Secret here in youtube. Alison Lohman and Mare Winningham guarantee the quality.

  • @werdo66 PLEASE DO NOT LIE LIKE THAT. I went to Sharing The Secret on youtube because of this exact reference, THINKING it was about anorexia, when it was actually about bulimia. Not even anorexia/bulimia, just bulimia. But it was a good movie anyway, so I guess thanks lol.

  • @Yellow4494 Guess you're right, my bad. But those two go hand in hand in most cases as far as I know, so, yeah, one good movie which doesn't start with a girl running in a jogging suit.

  • why does this movie start just like "the best little girl in the world"... lol

  • Thank you so much for posting this movie!! :) I've been wanting to see this movies for years. I suffered from Anorexia three years ago, and I know what she's going through.

  • Ik tht they are bro and sis, but did they just kiss on the lips? I have rewinded tht part like 2 times and I still cant figure it out.

  • Wow... an anorectic person without a manic personalty with overly high expectations to her future. oO I have yet to read a book written by a person with anorexia that isn't those things... I hope they have done their research right....

  • Excellent movie about Anorexia. Tracey Gold played it to a tee because she was recovering from Anorexia herself while filming this movie. :o)

  • I am glad that Tracy Gold is okay now and has recovered.

  • That actress was on the tv series "Growing Pains" and the producers told her to loose weight cause they said she was getting too fat so she became anorexic in real life because of that tv show. You can read it in her bio.

  • My mother was anorexic, and her name was Nancy,... odd

  • who kisses their brother?

  • @rachellovessyouu lol no kidding

  • @rachellovessyouu LOL!! You're right, not me that's for sure...and I have 6 of them!!

their considered "cute" by the girls but whatever...

  • @rachellovessyouu

    yeh isnt it disgusting

at one point i thought he was aiming for the mouth ew!!!! x(

  • @rachellovessyouu I would for Zach Morris : )

  • @rachellovessyouu lol agreed

  • tracey is just...ugly.

not gonna lie, it's turning me off to the film.

  • oh my the beginning tracey looks amazing in that red dress!

  • @spaulding069

i think it's Hunger Point, excuse me if i'm wrong

  • She looks a little older than 18 to me...but then again I'm 13 so everyone whose older looks old :P

  • How old is Nancy meant to be?

  • @TheOnlyShauna 18, I believe. She says "18 is as good as can get" or something like that. But she keeps saying "over 18" throughout the movie, so maybe she's 19, or 18 and a few months.

  • What pizza place is open at 2 AM?

  • @HououMinamino I see you don't live in NYC lol. I live on Long Island but I go to the city ALOT and like honestly you can do your Christmas shopping at 2 in the morning because somewhere there will be the equiviliant of a super walmart open lol. But this movie takes place in Suburbia so I dunno how they found that pizza place,

  • @SlashyPotterness One of my aunts lives in NYC. I will have to ask her about that. Most of the pizza places here are chains and I want to go to the big city and try a place that isn't. I had non-chain pizza in Florida, and it was awesome.

  • God I wish I was as thin as her...

  • I always have a bit of a chuckle at her jogging style... :P

  • @MLivingbyaprayer Tracy Gold never exercised in real life, so that must be it x)

  • @MLivingbyaprayer OMG! I hate to laugh at a movie about serious illness but YOU ARE SO RIGHT ON!!!

  • @MLivingbyaprayer - haha i know right? :P

  • RIP Jill! What a wonderful actor. You are missed.
