  • Great review! Thanks!

  • I absolutely love this library. Tried quite a few of them, but this just sounds the best.

  • Best VST EVER

  • Man dude even thou you play a little music ur still amazing !!!!!!

  • Your accent is transatlantic weird.

  • Out of the many great VSTs out there what can I get if I just wanted (translation : could afford) only one?

Symphobia seems pretty good in the sense that it can be used for it's pre-made clusters.

Can it be used for stand-alone instruments though?

  • I would like to hear a flute by it's self, same with piano. This is really awesome, but I would also like to just build my own layers. But I still don't know the full potential of this program yet.

  • Could at least play a little music, right?

  • @alandaog: you may be able to increase MIDI volume, I know I can do that in Pro Tools

  • Personally I use the "close" mic setting because I can hear each of the instruments according to their location in a live orchestra. I highly recommend to anybody using this plugin to try it because it makes the whole plugin have slightly more realistic sounds. But LASS is good too the strings sound a bit more expressive than Symphobia... I wish I had both but I only have Symphobia.

  • The intro to your videos is always waaay louder than the videos themselves...Edit much?

  • do you know if theres a patch that stops the delay on sounds? because its very inconsistent, there must be something that fixes the timing of pressed notes.

  • Doesn't sound bad, but the strings are a joke compared to LASS.

  • @richieblac thats not the only thing symphobia has a seriously bad delay on sounds making the timing inconsistent, im looking for some kind of patch to sort this because its very bad.

  • what notes did you play between 7:00 and 7:15?

  • Amazing software. Going to purchase this right now!

  • @Drjrecordz Just installed mine & its pretty epic :D

  • @alandaog

You can also change the sensitivity range in your sampler.

  • Impressive sound

  • @floridamusiccompany I have a suggestion for your next review. You know, not everybody has grown up in London and you're already hard to understand anyway, so don't talk so fast.

  • @Firewalkerbg Do you have difficulty with your English? He's quite clear, even if he is a little on the quick side.

  • i got symphobia but i dont see any info on getting it into kontakt 4 how do you do this? i have all the content for it also

  • My friend JARED MORRIS really wants this. lmao

  • I got Cinematic Strings: Monster Staccato, and Stradivari Violin v1.06. And I want to put them both in the library. But I don't know how.

So how did you put a library in Kontakt?

  • this is the best review ever. thank you so much!

  • i downloaded symphobia and kontakt and all the sample libraries, but nothing will play...it says it cant find any of them. am i missing a plug-in?

  • does it come with the kontak player or can i use my old one?

    thnks

  • OMFG

this makes everything twice as fast for me

now i don't have to spend more than an hour just doing effects and dynamics and layering, they make everything way easier and quick

i'm so getting this for christmas

    thx for the review

It's a def Buy for me!!!!

  • Love this review! Well done mate :)

  • is it a VST/VSTi? Runs on Fruity loops?

  • @Luckzzz it's looks like a Kontakt 4 library, so you run it through Kontakt 4 (32bit) for fl studio to use the library

  • @donsargent Thx! I think its to much to me.. I will search for a VST or standalone thing Ç:)

  • @alandaog in almost any DAW you can adjust the volume of MIDI after you play it in. In Logic Pro you would go into the MIDI window and press Esc. 9

  • Symphobia AKA instant Bioshock soundtrack. Demoed it today, what an absolutely beautiful library.

  • ...ALTHOUGH, east west symphonic choirs are probably the best out there...

but speaking strictly in regard to orchestra, I highly recommend this product!

  • I got symphobia after having east west products for a year and I gotta say, symphobia blows east west away, no joke. It's richer, bigger, and more real. Sure, with east west you can really concentrate on the individual instruments (as they say) but symphobia is just more brilliant, IMO.

I don't understand how everyone raves about east west so much when symphobia is so amazing sounding...it's like it's a big secret that no one talks about!!

  • @alandaog switch off the velocity curve on your keyboard. But it would sound artificial then.

  • Stunning piece of software !

  • Hi, great review, hugely helpful thank you.!!

Does this program work in Logic Pro studio? Can you load every sound etc as an instrument and play them in as normal / control their velocities / crescendos etc within Logic only like normal? Not sure how you gel it to a logic work afterwards if not..

Really appreciate a reply on this as I can't find any information on it anywhere.

  • @alandaog I agree. I turned touch sensitivity off on keyboard and dropped a hammer on the keys and velocity is still not as high as when you click it with a mouse.

  • Can these sound sets be used in Sibelius 6?

  • @alandaog It's true, I also found the velocity curve is strange, like if you press really lightly you can barely hear it, but if you try to play something in the middle you end up with almost full velocity. Makes it hard to play it in real time.

  • damn you talk to fast sometimes...lol

  • Hmm....so what about symphobia 2?

This sounds better than eastwests pre-set orchestra loadouts (Well, it doesn't really have any except for the strings). Seems much easier to get the sound straight from your head to live sound!

This is strange because that library is huge in comparison to 18-33GB for symphobia...

  • @TaisenkiByakko EWQLSO has more samples and instruments overall, including lots of percussion and individual instruments (not just ensembles), so that explains the size. The Steinway Piano in EWQLSO on it's own is about 2.5gb.

  • @alandaog If you Use cubse or FL Studio, once Yopu have recorded MIDI patterns or parts, You can edit and change the velocity for the notes.

  • I must say, symphobia is one of my fav tools i'm workin with. I'm also playin violin for myself and was active for a long time in an orchestra: Symphobia's sounds are powerful and clear.

but u'll encounter problems if you are doing fast paced runs with violins. Yeah, its still high class, but slowly, it meets his limit and can not compete nowadays with EWQL hollywood strings for example.

The actual prize tag is definitely too high.

  • is this a program itself or a VST instrument?

  • @MassDisaster221 its a vst library which includes the NI Kontakt Player 3.5 (the interface shown in this video) if you purchase it. The kontakt player is easy to link as a vst plugin in your editing software like cubase or fruity loops.

  • @MonsieurDreamer Ya I use Cubase Thanks :)

  • @MassDisaster221

All of these plug-ins are considered instruments, which you play through your midi controller. Whatever kind that may be. Unless your program is a straight reverb or effect or compressor.

  • Chris does the BEST software demos on You Tube. I always feel like I will get the essence of the product with him. He's just the best.

  • What is better...LASS or Symphobia?

  • i think 8 people missed the like button, one of the best vst's ive seen so far

  • i have a Korg Karma. will it work if i connect the Karma via midi->usb cable to my computer?

  • Dam it i so want this program but dont wanna spend the freaking $1500 bucks

    Honestly its FAR TOO MUCH!

  • ...and so it's over one thousand dollars, $1399.99 to be exact. You could get a lot of soft kit for that, so I'd imagine this is for pro users only & maybe those who already have just about every other quality software plug-in (I'm just about there).

  • Do you know how to unlock the new demo version, I Purchased the 6.0 version and would like to upgrade,i have my own key i need to know how to unlock it the 9.0 version copy and paste the key

  • i installed this software this weekend and MAN what an awesome program=D=O!!! It has everything for my "Film Score" composition=) and i totally love the multi-effects.. (especially the "Blockbuster one"!!!=D.. no more "cheap" VST's this software is a great one for future film score composer=).. highly recommended=)...

  • Symphobia rockz! thank the good Lord for Team AiRISO! +_+ lol

  • @upNyaBizznizz LOL dude, you may not have wanted to post that here!

  • @dariusofwest LOL oh yeah...i meant to say thank the LA LAKERS for whippin' Boston's ass!! my bad!.... hahahahahaha

  • wow I could play the whole orchestra with this software=)

  • where can i find the ADSR page.?

  • what r some other good kontakt player libraies guys

  • @pope2515 , I'd like to know the same thing

  • this can be done from your host sequencer

  • i have to play symphobia with kontakt?

  • What midi keyboard do you have?

  • @alandaog

    press the keys harder

  • Lol

  • @floridamusiccompany

    LOL :D Good advice :)

  • @floridamusiccompany just set the velocity to 0

  • Thanks for this video! :)

  • wich program do you use to recorde or mix the strings - can I do this all with only Symphobia or do I have to have an other programm like reaper or cubase

  • Symphobia can read midi files?

  • I want it but it's so expensive :(

  • How much CPU power is required to use this software. Since it's sample based and reverb is allready in the recording it shouldn't be so demanding, or maybe I'm mistaken.

  • @shangynexiii

    System requirements

Runs as a stand-alone application, VST® or Audio Units? plug-in, RTAS® under Pro Tools? 7/8 . Minimum: Mac OS X® 10.4 / 10.5, G5 1.8 GHz or Intel Core Duo 1.66 GHz, 1 GB RAM or Windows® XP (32 Bit) or Windows Vista® (32/64 Bit), Pentium® or Athlon XP 1.4 GHz, 1 GB RAM. 2 GB of RAM or more is highly recommended!

  • so i was right it's not very demanding, thx.

  • how do you do play all those crazy things @ min 7:10??? like u just play a normal melody with basic chords? or you have to be aware of the drums, extra instruments, etc? please lmk ty

  • Hi @eldante19 unfortunately it;s the old defunct thing called a music education.

    regards Chris.

  • whats a defunct? sorry english is my 2nd language, and what do you mean by music education? (as in i have to know how to write for each instrument? cuz i just hear you using a simple midi keyboard or are you using something else to make it sound that elaborate? sorry i just dont feel like you helped me with my question. and im really interested in purchasing this software.

    thanks

  • my reply is related to the question "how do you do play all those crazy things @ min 7:10???".

Buying this software will not make you sound "elaborate" only your musical ability will help you.

    Hence "A Good Music Education".

    chris

  • i hope im not annoying you but so make things clearer xD, in this video where you playing live with just a midi keyboard? or did you have to pre-record all those accompaniments? its just that for the pricei thought it would be some kind of smart software that complements what you play. you see i am not referring to the piece of music itself but to how the software transforms what you play into something complex (not musically, but instruments wise).

    thank you :)

  • Hi

I am just playing the software via a midi 88 note controller keyboard live.

The sounds are layered in a way that keyboard dynamics will trigger different sound layers within the patch

it does not add or compliment your playing automatically.

but you could always sequence to achieve what you need.

    Chris

  • thank you very much :D

  • Great sound !!! GP Orchestra is good too.

  • Sounds good!

  • how much does this cost?

  • all you need is your ears, and you can make huge orchestra sounds. theory can only speed up your work... i think

  • sounds like a good theroy.

  • Thats essentially true, but never underestimate how much help theory can be :D It speeds up your work 100 fold, and truly opens up new worlds. If you want to learn some orchestration, check out the link on my channel. Its a free, interactive, online version of Korsakov's "Principles of Orchestration"

  • sounds great, but the price reflects it and it will sounds only as good as one's knowledge about harmony and orchestration. Let's not make the mistake to ignore a through harmonic knowledge and think that Symphobia will make up for it

  • That is so true...lol, did you say this because of my demo?

  • hi SSFMP no, I wasn't referring to you of course, I was thinking of some people who will buy the program thinking that it will allow them to write classical music, lol

No you are a very skilled writer , I really like your music. This demo is great, your improvisations are very nice ideas. Sorry about my confusing comment earlier, too much Christmas wine, lol

Merry Christmas and keep these great demos coming!!

  • and i thought i playing in this demo.

    sound like me!!

    regards Chris

  • @luigiperso that's the same with every package mate!

  • such a beautiful sound, I bet they used this in a lot of video games.

  • Symphobia <3

  • amazing!!1! i wish it wasn't so big...

  • Big? You should have a look at the EWSO PLAY to talk about big!

  • i jus nutted listening to dose samples lol

  • Great demo chris i love hearing u mess with the samples man excellent keyboard work

  • WOW! that sounds incredible..

  • 100% impressed

  • Coolness.

  • I suggest you have an external harddrive for this, it's a big one!!!!! BUT SO WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very cool stuff. Looks quite simple to get moving quickly with.

  • I have this program.. HOT HOT HOT!!!!

  • off topic, which usb keyboard are u using?

  • in this video a studio-logic vmk 88 pro

    regards Chris

  • thanks chris! great demo!!

  • thanks a lot for this great vid

  • do all the sound come with the vst

  • excellent review :)

  • Im using Symphobia and I offer to everyone, who wants to create film music, soundtrack, I tried Miroslav Philharmonik, Garritan, East West Gold, and Kirk Hunter Emerald but its way better than these, in quality and in handling too

  • If you are serious in film music composition, I suggest you to buy Vienna Symphonic Library.

  • CHRIS!! GREAT JOB!!

  • Umh, sorry for nooby question, but what is Kompakt and Kontakt and what is the difference?

  • Kontakt is a universal sampler.

  • And what is Kompakt? And all the other names with "K" instead of "C"?

  • I've never used Kompakt or Impakt so I'm not really able to explain those. Everything has a "K" instead of a "C" because Native Instruments is a German company.

  • sound brilliant. movie music

  • damn this shit is nice! I really have to get this.

  • @alagstube... A little late, but Wallander has great brass and woodwind VSTi(s) if you can afford them. No samples just physical models... probably the best around. It would be great if they could split the collection up again into individual instruments like before.

However, Symphobia what a fantastic rompler!

  • Yet ANOTHER great video demo from Chris at Florida Music !!

  • This Symphobia looks great for quick arrangements. It's a shame that for the price, a version of Truestrike isn't included. I'm gonna stick with Garritan's Personal Orchestra and ESQL's Symphony gold version for now. Maybe I can get my director to spring for an office copy... and the 8 core Mac to run it on. How well does Symphobia run under Sonar 7 emulated on a Mac? Don't laugh! :P

  • garritan is pityful though!! mate run logic or pro tools on a mac!!! i use logic on an imac with 4gb ram and east west composers collection and it runs amazingly

  • Epic sounds

  • Hahahha this is so Awesome that it's ridiculous, I'm even laughing! Shit I have to get this program!

  • Ok Im having a major problem with this program. How do you run Symphobia in Kontakt 3? I don't see anything to run the interface that is in the top left corner of the player in the video??!!

  • using it in kontakt player is esaier, like he is in the video...

  • Load the nki file in the symphobia folder directory that ya installed

  • I'm having trouble with the nki file. is it an audio file? when i open the program kontakt can not find the sounds??? i'm lost...

  • You have to intall the symphonic setup file first before it can even recognize the files..

  • Great review, looks like there are a lot of neat packaged sounds here. Good show, Chris.

  • Do they do a uke?

  • Nah but "uke" need to get the fuggout of here with that shit.

  • Sense of humour. Invest in one.

  • Hey is there any Vst for live flute

  • Amazing !

  • now that is what i'm talking about!

  • Comment removed

  • This along with either East West or Vienna, In conjunction with Garritan, Cello and Stradi Violin, Throw in some Ivory Pinao and one of the "Big Drum" collections like Strom Drum.. and frankly if you even have a basic sense of Composition.. you will be sounding amazingly good..

Throw in Choirs and Ra or Ethno World and forget it...

It's a wrap.. Elfman Watch out.

  • @sitizenx you said it brother:)

  • Why do people seem to treat this vst with distain? from what i can tell it is definatly something worth investing in. Hopefully i will have it soon

  • amazing ! now i want it ! thanx flordiamusic !

  • with this you can perfectly remake the gta IV theme:p

  • Holy jesus.

  • I want this program...

  • wow what a sound...

  • Been using this for a while, nice sustained strings, but staccato is pretty bad, winds not to hot ether, nice sustain brass. Its a good supplement for Vienna or EWSO but if used alone may sound unnatural(if you don't orchestrate much)lacks many phrases as well. Can be a life saver on short deadlines though.

  • i just got it up and running....i can def say that there is good potental , if you take the time to lay out your own multi setups=-).

  • How much of this library is actually usable?

  • It depends on what you want to do with it weaponEX. If doing detailed instrumentation I don't really use it at all as the instruments are blended to much. But that was the point of the library. If you need a quick generic piece or music for a short trailer it works very well, also it has some pretty rare rips, fx and crescendos you wont find in other library's and those are usually virtually impossible to reproduce.

  • I've used most of this library in one way or the other, it depends on the project. But like mentioned it's more of a supplement library rather then something a composer would use as a main tool. Overall a good idea, but the price is a bit over the top considering what you get, then again it's the only one out there in this niche.

  • It sounds like exactly what I've been needing. I've cleared some reasonable ground using a mix of Miroslav Philharmonik and the Garageband Symphonic jampack. I was planning on upgrading to EWQL Symphonic Orchestra supplemented by more obscure single instrument downloads from Vienna Symphonic Library. I think I'd definitely find room for this too! Like chefs say, start with the finest ingredients..

    Are you a professional composer?

  • Ahh the old Miroslav, it used to cost around 4k in the Akai days, its still nice for sketching though with its low memory print. I would still recommend you go with East/west with the xp pro expansion first, then Symphobia, you get heck of a lot more articulations and keep in mind Symphobia lacks percussion, but that's what true strike 1 and 2 is for. And to answer your question, yes I do get paid for my work. If your working on something specific and need a tip, drop me an IM.

  • thats bad fucking ass. nice review bro.

  • This is so great!

  • do you need a MIDI controller to use this in FL8 or can you use the pc keyboard?

  • You could use either one.

  • surely if you can afford this then you can afford a midi keyboard lol.

  • I believe Round Robin is automatically implemented in the patch programming, but the Repetitions button is to add additional programming that will pull nearby samples and retune them if you need even more round robin action.

  • Great demo... appreciate the coverage!

  • no vids for months why?

  • Can it be used in fl studio?

  • Yes, you can just load in KontaktPlayer in FL Studio and play it through kontakt :)

  • thank you that was a great demo i really was hoping you would play a whole song sounds great

  • Exceptional demo of an exceptional product.

  • Excellent ,demo.took you thru the presets, showed how simple, and effective this plugin is.greaaat soundz and effects.I am sold will be buying this one just what I need.MYKEL

  • WHAT KIND OF COMPUTER ARE YOU RUNNING THIS ON??? I'm about to buy a computer, but i don't know how powerful of a computer i need.

  • at least get a dual core, amd or intel, 2gb ram, sata2 hd, and most importantly a dedicated external audio interface

  • the best you can afford.

  • Hi Chris,

Thanks for taking the time to show us this. I love your no nonsense whirl through the sounds and features. Gives us a great idea of the quality of this instrument and a clear reality check on it 's usefulless! You're great! Thanks much!!!

  • wow wow wow it costs 1300 dollars. shit.....

  • yeah I know insane

  • that is pretty cool
