I would like to hear a flute by it's self, same with piano. This is really awesome, but I would also like to just build my own layers. But I still don't know the full potential of this program yet.
Personally I use the "close" mic setting because I can hear each of the instruments according to their location in a live orchestra. I highly recommend to anybody using this plugin to try it because it makes the whole plugin have slightly more realistic sounds. But LASS is good too the strings sound a bit more expressive than Symphobia... I wish I had both but I only have Symphobia.
do you know if theres a patch that stops the delay on sounds? because its very inconsistent, there must be something that fixes the timing of pressed notes.
@richieblac thats not the only thing symphobia has a seriously bad delay on sounds making the timing inconsistent, im looking for some kind of patch to sort this because its very bad.
@floridamusiccompany I have a suggestion for your next review. You know, not everybody has grown up in London and you're already hard to understand anyway, so don't talk so fast.
I got symphobia after having east west products for a year and I gotta say, symphobia blows east west away, no joke. It's richer, bigger, and more real. Sure, with east west you can really concentrate on the individual instruments (as they say) but symphobia is just more brilliant, IMO.
I don't understand how everyone raves about east west so much when symphobia is so amazing sounding...it's like it's a big secret that no one talks about!!
Does this program work in Logic Pro studio? Can you load every sound etc as an instrument and play them in as normal / control their velocities / crescendos etc within Logic only like normal? Not sure how you gel it to a logic work afterwards if not..
Really appreciate a reply on this as I can't find any information on it anywhere.

@alandaog I agree. I turned touch sensitivity off on keyboard and dropped a hammer on the keys and velocity is still not as high as when you click it with a mouse.
@alandaog It's true, I also found the velocity curve is strange, like if you press really lightly you can barely hear it, but if you try to play something in the middle you end up with almost full velocity. Makes it hard to play it in real time.
This sounds better than eastwests pre-set orchestra loadouts (Well, it doesn't really have any except for the strings). Seems much easier to get the sound straight from your head to live sound!
This is strange because that library is huge in comparison to 18-33GB for symphobia...
@TaisenkiByakko EWQLSO has more samples and instruments overall, including lots of percussion and individual instruments (not just ensembles), so that explains the size. The Steinway Piano in EWQLSO on it's own is about 2.5gb.
@alandaog@alandaog If you Use cubase or FL Studio, once Yopu have recorded MIDI patterns or parts, You can edit and change the velocity for the notes.
I must say, symphobia is one of my fav tools i'm workin with. I'm also playin violin for myself and was active for a long time in an orchestra: Symphobia's sounds are powerful and clear.
but u'll encounter problems if you are doing fast paced runs with violins. Yeah, its still high class, but slowly, it meets his limit and can not compete nowadays with EWQL hollywood strings for example.
@MassDisaster221 its a vst library which includes the NI Kontakt Player 3.5 (the interface shown in this video) if you purchase it. The kontakt player is easy to link as a vst plugin in your editing software like cubase or fruity loops.
All of these plug-ins are considered instruments, which you play through your midi controller. Whatever kind that may be. Unless your program is a straight reverb or effect or compressor.
...and so it's over one thousand dollars, $1399.99 to be exact. You could get a lot of soft kit for that, so I'd imagine this is for pro users only & maybe those who already have just about every other quality software plug-in (I'm just about there).
Do you know how to unlock the new demo version, I Purchased the 6.0 version and would like to upgrade,i have my own key i need to know how to unlock it the 9.0 version copy and paste the key
i installed this software this weekend and MAN what an awesome program=D=O!!! It has everything for my "Film Score" composition=) and i totally love the multi-effects.. (especially the "Blockbuster one"!!!=D.. no more "cheap" VST's this software is a great one for future film score composer=).. highly recommended=)...
wich program do you use to recorde or mix the strings - can I do this all with only Symphobia or do I have to have an other programm like reaper or cubase
How much CPU power is required to use this software. Since it's sample based and reverb is allready in the recording it shouldn't be so demanding, or maybe I'm mistaken.
Runs as a stand-alone application, VST® or Audio Units? plug-in, RTAS® under Pro Tools? 7/8 . Minimum: Mac OS X® 10.4 / 10.5, G5 1.8 GHz or Intel Core Duo 1.66 GHz, 1 GB RAM or Windows® XP (32 Bit) or Windows Vista® (32/64 Bit), Pentium® or Athlon XP 1.4 GHz, 1 GB RAM. 2 GB of RAM or more is highly recommended!

i hope im not annoying you but so make things clearer xD, in this video where you playing live with just a midi keyboard? or did you have to pre-record all those accompaniments? its just that for the pricei thought it would be some kind of smart software that complements what you play. you see i am not referring to the piece of music itself but to how the software transforms what you play into something complex (not musically, but instruments wise).
Thats essentially true, but never underestimate how much help theory can be :D It speeds up your work 100 fold, and truly opens up new worlds. If you want to learn some orchestration, check out the link on my channel. Its a free, interactive, online version of Korsakov's "Principles of Orchestration"
sounds great, but the price reflects it and it will sounds only as good as one's knowledge about harmony and orchestration. Let's not make the mistake to ignore a through harmonic knowledge and think that Symphobia will make up for it
hi SSFMP no, I wasn't referring to you of course, I was thinking of some people who will buy the program thinking that it will allow them to write classical music, lol
No you are a very skilled writer , I really like your music. This demo is great, your improvisations are very nice ideas. Sorry about my confusing comment earlier, too much Christmas wine, lol
Merry Christmas and keep these great demos coming!!
Im using Symphobia and I offer to everyone, who wants to create film music, soundtrack, I tried Miroslav Philharmonik, Garritan, East West Gold, and Kirk Hunter Emerald but its way better than these, in quality and in handling too
I've never used Kompakt or Impakt so I'm not really able to explain those. Everything has a "K" instead of a "C" because Native Instruments is a German company.
@alagstube... A little late, but Wallander has great brass and woodwind VSTi(s) if you can afford them. No samples just physical models... probably the best around. It would be great if they could split the collection up again into individual instruments like before.
This Symphobia looks great for quick arrangements. It's a shame that for the price, a version of Truestrike isn't included. I'm gonna stick with Garritan's Personal Orchestra and ESQL's Symphony gold version for now. Maybe I can get my director to spring for an office copy... and the 8 core Mac to run it on. How well does Symphobia run under Sonar 7 emulated on a Mac? Don't laugh! :P
garritan is pityful though!! mate run logic or pro tools on a mac!!! i use logic on an imac with 4gb ram and east west composers collection and it runs amazingly
Ok Im having a major problem with this program. How do you run Symphobia in Kontakt 3? I don't see anything to run the interface that is in the top left corner of the player in the video??!!
This along with either East West or Vienna, In conjunction with Garritan, Cello and Stradi Violin, Throw in some Ivory Pinao and one of the "Big Drum" collections like Strom Drum.. and frankly if you even have a basic sense of Composition.. you will be sounding amazingly good..
Throw in Choirs and Ra or Ethno World and forget it...
Been using this for a while, nice sustained strings, but staccato is pretty bad, winds not to hot ether, nice sustain brass. Its a good supplement for Vienna or EWSO but if used alone may sound unnatural(if you don't orchestrate much)lacks many phrases as well. Can be a life saver on short deadlines though.
It depends on what you want to do with it weaponEX. If doing detailed instrumentation I don't really use it at all as the instruments are blended to much. But that was the point of the library. If you need a quick generic piece or music for a short trailer it works very well, also it has some pretty rare rips, fx and crescendos you wont find in other library's and those are usually virtually impossible to reproduce.
I've used most of this library in one way or the other, it depends on the project. But like mentioned it's more of a supplement library rather then something a composer would use as a main tool. Overall a good idea, but the price is a bit over the top considering what you get, then again it's the only one out there in this niche.
It sounds like exactly what I've been needing. I've cleared some reasonable ground using a mix of Miroslav Philharmonik and the Garageband Symphonic jampack. I was planning on upgrading to EWQL Symphonic Orchestra supplemented by more obscure single instrument downloads from Vienna Symphonic Library. I think I'd definitely find room for this too! Like chefs say, start with the finest ingredients..
Ahh the old Miroslav, it used to cost around 4k in the Akai days, its still nice for sketching though with its low memory print. I would still recommend you go with East/west with the xp pro expansion first, then Symphobia, you get heck of a lot more articulations and keep in mind Symphobia lacks percussion, but that's what true strike 1 and 2 is for. And to answer your question, yes I do get paid for my work. If your working on something specific and need a tip, drop me an IM.
I believe Round Robin is automatically implemented in the patch programming, but the Repetitions button is to add additional programming that will pull nearby samples and retune them if you need even more round robin action.
Excellent ,demo.took you thru the presets, showed how simple, and effective this plugin is.greaaat soundz and effects.I am sold will be buying this one just what I need.MYKEL
Thanks for taking the time to show us this. I love your no nonsense whirl through the sounds and features. Gives us a great idea of the quality of this instrument and a clear reality check on it 's usefulless! You're great! Thanks much!!!

How well does Symphobia run under Sonar 7 emulated on a Mac? Don't laugh! :P

garritan is pityful though!! mate run logic or pro tools on a mac!!! i use logic on an imac with 4gb ram and east west composers collection and it runs amazingly

It's a wrap.. Elfman Watch out.

Been using this for a while, nice sustained strings, but staccato is pretty bad, winds not to hot ether, nice sustain brass. Its a good supplement for Vienna or EWSO but if used alone may sound unnatural(if you don't orchestrate much)lacks many phrases as well. Can be a life saver on short deadlines though.

i just got it up and running....i can def say that there is good potental , if you take the time to lay out your own multi setups=-).

How much of this library is actually usable?
weaponEX 2 years ago
It depends on what you want to do with it weaponEX. If doing detailed instrumentation I don't really use it at all as the instruments are blended to much. But that was the point of the library. If you need a quick generic piece or music for a short trailer it works very well, also it has some pretty rare rips, fx and crescendos you wont find in other library's and those are usually virtually impossible to reproduce.
orbit991 2 years ago
I've used most of this library in one way or the other, it depends on the project. But like mentioned it's more of a supplement library rather then something a composer would use as a main tool. Overall a good idea, but the price is a bit over the top considering what you get, then again it's the only one out there in this niche.
orbit991 2 years ago
It sounds like exactly what I've been needing. I've cleared some reasonable ground using a mix of Miroslav Philharmonik and the Garageband Symphonic jampack. I was planning on upgrading to EWQL Symphonic Orchestra supplemented by more obscure single instrument downloads from Vienna Symphonic Library. I think I'd definitely find room for this too! Like chefs say, start with the finest ingredients..
Are you a professional composer?
weaponEX 2 years ago
