Thanks for the video. I'd like to grow some bananas like that. Where can I get the seed or whatever it is I need to get started? I'm in the Tampa Bay area, not tropical, but pretty mild winters and very hot, humid summers.
@platinumplusenter Banana plants should be readily available in parts of Florida. They are not seed bearing so you need plants or cuttings. Try going-bananas in Homestead they might be able to help you.
Nice. I think I have machetephobia. Everytime I see that it make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I guess I've watched one to many friday the 13th movies. How does the taste compare to the common grocery store banana?
@NewEnglandgardening The machete is basic tool of tropical gardening. It works really well on bananas. Try using it to cut your sweet corn stalks this next summer. Keep it sharp, keep it from bouncing into your leg and it does a lot of work quick. The bananas I grow in California and the ones I grow at my home in Hawaii all have better flavor and texture than the store bought type. Try them once and the memory will persist for life.
